Went Friday night at 10:40 after hearing it was free before 11. The girls in front of us were charged a $5 cover, despite saying, "We thought it was free before 11!" The doorman said no, free before 10:30. Either these guys are pocketing the $5 or the policy changed. Either way, a very fun bar with great areas to chill. We met some interesting characters and one of my friends hooked up. A good time.

Pros: Fun vibe, great back patio, cheapish beer

Cons: Supposed to be free before 11 - it's not

A couple of friends took me here, I had been my it a number of times in the past but always wrote it off as a some dirty downtown LA bar filled with gangsters so I never went in. Turns out I was totally wrong. This place rocks.

It's a cool place with regular people and not filled with the "I'm so cool" Hollywood types nor the "I live on the Westside" snobs. They play different music each night so be sure to find out what they're doing before you go. If you like to dance it's a fun place to dance too.

The beer is cheep, the bartenders are cool and the cover is super cheep too. Unlike two other reviewers the door men have always been cool and polite.

They don't serve food. The outdoor patio is nice but it's filled with freaking smokers so that's the only downside with that.

Give it a shot, if you want to get away from the snobs and wannabes, give downtown a visit.

Cons: Smokers on the patio, no food.

A total fiasco, does he really think that he work in Studio 54?!?! This is just a hole in the wall, so please chill-out and relax dude!! anyways, since you can?t avoid the door-man, then don?t even go. Choose another place better and you?ll be more happier, trust me? xoxo XalliGirl

Pros: NONE

Cons: ALL OF THE ABOVE

My first time at La Cita ' PRP' sucked . I'm torn by the good/bad experience had. The place is totally trendy, L.A. hipsters, punks, 20 year olds, 30 year olds...all walks of life. Serious good time potential if you base it on the location and structure. The patio was really nice but the sound system was terrible. Either turn off all the music outside or get a decent PA system. Patio is roomier than the inside bar. Adorable decor and plenty of table/seats to hang out. Decent size dance floor which gets packed despite the low music. Inside was overcrowded to max capacity and they were still letting people in. Music was very good and blended for the eclectic crowd. The bouncers had a heavy 'velvet rope' attitude. If you're not a hot girl expect to get serious attitude from these jerks. My two friends and I made the mistake of going out once through the front door for a smoke break. Although we asked the bouncer if it was cool to go out and come back in and he said yes, my male friend was not 'remembered' when we tried to go back in. He was made to stand in a ridiculously long line when he had been there consuming their overpriced drinks all night. Yes, drinks are over priced and the bartenders not very friendly. Stick to beer if you make it to La Cita. The inside bar had the worse bartender I've come across in so many years of clubbing in L.A. Rude skinny white girl with no mixing skills to speak of. Cursed at me for tipping over her empty fruit trays when I reached for a lime for my beer. Last time I checked I was the customer and this didn't make a difference to the nasty little thing behind the bar. To management- can her and can the meat heads shoving the crowd out like cattle at the end of the night when the lights come on. The employees are a deterrant to establishing regulars who appreciate good service along with groovy ambiance. So long as you dont deal with the bouncers and have a beer instead of mixed drinks, its a really nice place to hangout.

the tiny dance floor fills up with sweaty bodies yearning to be funky. the smoking patio is huge and quiet enough for an actual conversation. yes yes yes, icky hipsters but if you think about it we might all actually be icky hipsters.

You think I'm kidding? I dare you to check this place out on a Thursday night. Crazy, uninhibited, funny, loose, sweaty, jumping- its all that and more. Seriously the best mix of music- shouts to DJ Insulin, that I've vibed anywhere and I've been around. This is what night life is supposed to be all about. Competition take note- THIS PLACE IS THE BOMB.

Pros: gREAT MuSIC, NONPRETENTIOUS VIBE, great dance floor

Cons: slow bartenders, not enough bartenders, too much backyard supervision

.

Cool spot but gets crowded as hell, many hipsters and echo park crowd. But get there early, get a booth, get some drink specials, get a buzz going and it could turn out to be a fun evening. The back patio is cool too, blaze one up and talk over some drinks.... imagine a bar that you can actually talk (not yell) with somebody.

Finally I found a real palce in Los Angeles, excellent music and very cool and nice people!!
No line, no velvet rope, no entrance fee, no stupid dress codes, only good music and good people!
I go there only on Friday night, the dj spins awesome old school punk, ska and reggae!!
I hope to find more places like La Cita in LA!!
SUPER HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!
TRENDY WARNING: This place is the farest thing compared to the Hollywood scene, if you hate Hollywood and mainstream music, you'll love La Cita!

As you speed by the old Angel's Flight and Grand Central Market, you'd never guess how much fun there is to be had at La Cita. The Mexican theme lives on, while a young and fun crowd PACKS the bar. The music is funky and people shake their groove thing on the medium sized dance floor. There is a good amount of open seating and tables, and also a large patio in the back (smokers are welcome). If you love to party it up on the Eastside/downtown, this is a great place to stop by.

Pros: Fun people, Funky music, only a couple blocks away from metro

Cons: Parking is tough when pay lots fill up, can get hot inside

La Cita bar on 336 Hill st. down town is an amazing spot that speaks for it self. Get over the "down town is too far" mentality and check out this must see bar. The outside may be a little too rustic for your taste but don't let the half lit florescent sign fool you. Once you get in you'll know why it's become one of the most popular nightspots down town. The music is always danceable and the wood floor just beyond on the bar has seen a million ways to cut a rug, feel free to show it a million and one. The people in this place are trend setters and they could care less. Everyone is friendly and most of them beautiful. The staff professional and efficient i can't get enough of La Cita. Rumor has it the back patio will be open not just for smoking but for drinking as well very soon.
