I really wouldn't recommend Hi Thai. It's satisfactory at best for campus food, which isn't saying much. The food that I have got there isn't the freshest and tastes like it's been sitting around for a while. The noodles would be your best bet. I don't recommend the boba. The lines are never too long and service is good.

Hi Thai is a great place to grab some lunch in between classes or even while studying with the friendly and comfortable study lounge right next to it. The service is friendly and the food is good, definitely worth giving it a try.

With the opening of Hi Thai last year, UCSD students got another choice in their daily dilemma of what to eat. This restaurant actually offers two types of food: Thai and Vietnamese. Located at the Old Student Center by the Hump, and Main Gym it offers computer access and a student lounge for studying and relaxing. The menu includes pho, Vietnamese sandwiches, ice cream, pad thai, noodle/rice dishes, chicken skewers, Vietnamese desserts, etc etc. The prices aren't horrible but they have risen in the past year. The Vietnamese sandwiches are good but are too small compared to ones you find in LA or at any Lee's Sandwich shop. A review of the pad Thai would get it a 3.5 because sometimes they make it really well and other times it doesn't taste like much. Service is pretty quick and its nice you can use credit cards there though the cash line is usually faster. Overall it's a satisfactory restaurant though the menu can be spruced up a bit.

Hi Thai provides access to different food on campus. With the lack of choices at UCSD, you can definitely come here and get new things. I personally like the lard nar and the pad thai is alright. If you are expecting really good thai food, then this is not the place for you to eat at, but when you are on campus and crave some noodle dishes or curry, then Hi Thai is the place to go. They also have a good selection of tapioca drinks and soft serve. I would not recommend the Vietnamese dishes however.
