Guru Chiropractic

I found this place by searching on Yahoo and the reviews looked like an infomercial for Dr Rubens. But the reviews are right on track. Dr Rubens has extensive training and he integrates a wide range of healing modalities in addition to his exceptional chiropractic skill. I also had a couple massages and the masseuse wereincredibly talented themselves. I havent tried Dr Glick yet but I m told he is just as good.
I have used many chiropractors due to my frequent travel and GURU is at the top of my list! I actually have them on speed dial when I m in LA.

One of the better chiropractors in town! I wasn't able to walk before because of excruciating pain in my back, but Dr. Rubens gave me my ability to walk again. HE IS AMAZING.

I started going to Dr. Rubensl a couple of months ago when I was suffering from back pain. My back would go out easily, whenever I did any heavy lifting, gardening, or particularly stressful things. ;) I would limp around for days, unable to be move normally without feeling pain.
So I found Dr. Rubens and made an appointment. And. He Was Absolutely Fabulous. From his GREAT communication to his wonderful approach and expert knowledge . He taught me some exercises, examined my posture, taught me new techniques for lifting and stretching, and identified my problem. He gave me the best adjustment of my life (I would later float out of the office on some kind of high). I met the other doctor, Dr GUlick, and he was just as great as Dr. RUben. These guys are definitely the real thing. The GUand the RU are the best

I went in with a really bad migraine. I usually have to lock myself in my room and stay in bed. My friend told me to try Dr Rubens. She swears he has magic hands. After a 30 minute session with Dr Rubens, my migraine was gone. Im not sure what he did different then my last chiroprator but whatever he did cured me. Its been two weeks and I haven't had a headache or migraine. I hate to agree with my friend but he really has magic hands. He is definitely a healer. I was shocked he didn't try to tell me to come back once a week or try to sell me a year plan like the last chiroprator I visited. He actually took my insurance and made me pay the $10 copay.
Im definitely going back.

I am 34 years old and have been going to chiropractors since I was 22. I have been to about 12 or 15 chiropractors in my life and GURU is the best.

I like a no non-sense adjustment that gets the job done in one trip and Dr Rubens does that for me.

I can usually get a same day appointment from GURU and I often walk out feeling 90% better. Then after a day or two I fully recover and I forget I even had the pain. What else could you ask for from a Chiropractor?

He is a natural born healer.

After years of back pain from stress and carrying bags that were unnecessarily heavy around the city, I got the good advice to try a chiropractor. I was skeptical until I went into Dr. Rubens and felt better within a week of my first visit.
The initial exam answered my questions. The treatment plan is thorough and easy to understand. .

The only good thing about being in pain, is that I get to see Dr. Rubens! I have seen multiple chiropractors over the years and was pleased when I moved to Los Angeles to put my care in Dr. Rubens' hands, literally. His assistant is a pleasure to work with at the front desk and the office is well located & clean. Dr. Rubens himself is professional, thorough, friendly and most importantly, EFFECTIVE. I have been going to Dr. Rubens for two weeks now and prior to my visits I was having numbness in my left leg & foot. I now have no pain or numbness and feel great. Thanks Dr. Rubens!!!

wow i feel great

I woke up on christmas day with a really sore neck. I could barely move my neck. I tried calling a bunch of places but it was christmas and everything was closed. I left messages on at least 8 chiropractic office and no one returned my call except for Guru. I got a call back and the doctore (Dr Rubens) came in just for me. He saved me. He spent about 30 minutes with me and I walked out completely cured. The best part was that he didnt try to overcharge me. Great service and awesome doctor. Thank you so so much for making my holiday a pleasureable one.

Dr. Rubens is an intuitive magical healer! I received a life changing adjustment the other day that decrease my hip and knee pain dramatically. As a performer/ dancer having the ability to dance without pain is immeasurable. I am so grateful to have found Dr. Rubens- he is the amzing! He really is a Guru.

I had never been to a chiropractor and honestly felt the whole concept was a little HOCUS POCUS. But, I had some neck and shoulder pain that wouldn't go away. I went to Guru Chiropractic on the recommendation of several co-workers who swore by them, and because I was tired of taking vicodin to relieve my pain.
The receptionist was extremely friendly, as was Dr. Rubens. He was thorough in his explanations, asking me many questions and was responsive to my questions and provided thorough answers.
After a general assessment with careful explanations, he decided at most needed one additional appointment after he sent me home with some exercises to perform to relieve my pain. I came back over a long weekend mostly relieved from my suffering. He told me if I kept up with his adjustments I would be fine in no time flat; and I could subsequently perform the same exercises in the future to relieve pain. And he was totally correct. After one appointment and one follow-up I was totally back to normal in just a week's time! I haven't needed to see him since but will absolutely make follow up appointments with him if need be.
Best of all, they also worked with my insurance.

So this was my chiropractic and massage experience and i went in terrified.. Not knowing what to expect and all my friends warned me about deep tissue work and how painful it is. But i put my big girl pants on and went in hoping for the best. As soon as i entered the office i felt warm and cozy and at home.. Pastel colors everywhere lean towards a more relaxing feel and soft music is plus.. The treatment room was nice and clean and cozy. The chiropractor saw me first and really knew his stuff. Then I got a massage for the lower back and then saw the chiropractor again for my adjstment. It was amazing! not only did i learn a lot about muscles and natural energy healing, i felt amazing afterwards. i did have to remove my shirt and put a gown on, so if your not comfortable with that then i wouldn??t do the back. i didn??t have to take off my bra or anything and didn??t feel awkward one bit. Both the chiropractor and the masseuse were very professional and made me feel 100% comfortable with this new experience. Since my 1st visit i have gone back 4 times ?All in all I absolutely positively recommend Guru Chiropractic.

I have never been to a chiropractor before and I was a skeptic. But I must say I was more then pleased with my experience at Guru Chiropractic. The clinic was very welcoming and easy to find. Dr. Rubens not only fixed my neck on my first visit but he gave me exercises to prevent me injury from happening again. In addition to curing my neck he explained to me what he was doing and why. I truly believe in Dr. Rubens work.

Dr. Rubens, Dr. Gulick and their massage therapist are AWESOME! I have NEVER had a bad experience at the Guru Chiropractic . I had gone to several doctors for my neck and shoulder pain, and after several xrays, no one could find anything. I decided that I should try something new and go to a chiropractor.

Dr. Rubens did a thorough exam and was the ONLY one who found that a lot of my neck and shoulder pain was due to a curve in my cervical spine and forward head posture. He explained how these two factors caused the muscle tightness and pain that I had been experiencing for five years. I have noticed a significant change in my pain level, and I noticed the improvement right away. Dr. Gulick has worked on me a few times, and he is excellent, too! His style is a bit different from Dr. Rubens, but it's nice to try different techniques on occasion to relieve my pain.

The BEST massage therapist I have ever had!! I've gone to several other places, and they are the ONLY one who can work the kinks out of my neck and shoulders. They pays attention to what hurts, and keeps working on it until the kinks are gone. Forget the spas! Go see the GURUS

Being a skeptic of chiropractic treatments, it took me a long while (and only after many rave reviews from friends and colleagues) to make an appointment with Dr. Rubens. I can say honestly that he is an exceptionally skilled practitioner. He is open, friendly, to-the-point, and bang on in evaluating and administering the treatment to make all sorts of pains and aches go away.

Dr. Rubens was amazing! I had terrible shoulder/back pain for 2 weeks where I was unable to lift anything. Which was hard considering I had to keep up with a toddler. Dr. Rubens stretched and did his magic in that area and I was finally able to move my shoulder without pain! He was so friendly and patient. The whole office was very efficient, no unnecessary waiting time. I got a half hour massage on me after and that was just icing on the cake. I'm completely pain free after six visits.

My love letter to Guru Chiropractic;

I have been going to GURU for about a month and a half, and I have never had such a wonderful experience at any practice ever. Sadly, I am moving out of state, and have to say goodbye. I sincerely and honestly do not have enough words to praise the doctors and staff. They are friendly, they are experts in their fields, and they go above and beyond when it comes to customer service.
When I first came to GURU I didn't think that there was any hope for me and that my back pain would just be there until I died. Dr. Rubens and Dr. Gulick have not only helped me and my pain, but they have completely convinced me of the legitimacy of continued chiropractic care.
The massage therapists here are simply the best. If only I could pack them in my suitcase! They are amazing, simply amazing. But they are not the only capable therapists, I would feel confident recommending all of them to anyone.

And how could I not mention their wonderful support staff?! As someone who works in medical reception, I expect no less than an amazing front-desk team who are nothing short of phenomenally friendly. Courteous, polite, helpful, everything you could ever ask for.
In closing, if you're looking for the best, look no further. Even this lengthy review doesn't begin to capture the exceptional care I have received here. I cannot express how much you have helped me, I will miss you all terribly, and wish you best.

I've just started going to Dr. Rubens for a wrecked shoulder I have, and even after a few appointments, I have felt a lot of relief. His staff is super friendly, professional, and helpful in scheduling appointments, and the doctor is really nice as well, very realistic, and willing to work with you where you are - he doesn't try to tell you what you should or should not be doing, he simply gets to work and often provides immediate relief. I have always been a bit skeptical of chiropractors, but after going here, I'm sold.

Very gentle and kind. I'd never been to a chiropractor before and my neck was really messed up. He helped me out a lot with my neck pain and didn't bestow a lot of new-age rhetoric on me, which I was weary of.
There is a massage therapist who works in the office too, Leti I think? She was also GREAT.

I was very skeptical about chiropractors . But my back was so bothersome that I was willing to take that risk. I found out that my insurance covered 25 visits a year so I went, and I'm so glad I did. My back was so messed up, by the end of the first month most of my pain was gone. My posture is better and my adjustments now hold for months. I recommend him to all my friends who have back issues

One fabulous experience with the massage AND the chiropractic treatment!

Dr. Rubens is an amazing chiropractor! His treatments are almost like a spa. He does a heat treatment and electronic pulses or ultrasound to loosen up your muscles before the adjustment, then performs amazing deep-tissue massages to help your muscles hold the adjustment. He is personable and kind, and his adjustments aren't painful or scary like other chiropractors I've had in the past.

I appreciate Dr. Rubens. He helps adjust me energetically and gets rid of all my aches. For people wanting to get cracked, this is not the practice. For people wanting to fine tune their bodies to work synchronously, then this is the place. This goes beyond Chiropractics. I have been going for four weeks and have noticed a difference in my energy and sleep and no more pain. He has also helped me with my hip compensation.

I highly recommend Guru Chiropractic. My initial experience was nothing like I had expected. Dr Rubens is a wonderful doctor who cares about doing a great job, and earning your repeat business. Dr Rubens explained step by step what he was doing, and explained to me how he came to those conclusions. My results were immediate and the price was very reasonable.

I recently discovered this chiropractic practice after a couple not-so-great experiences with another local chiropractor. I'm almost 30 weeks pregnant, so my back, ribs, and neck have been killing me. Finding such a great chiropractor has really helped me! Before the spinal manipulation, you will be massaged and stretched. This lasts about 10 minutes, and it really helps to relax my muscles before the manipulation.
Then you go into Dr.??s office with the standard chiropractor bed. He checks the various points on your back, neck, etc. and makes the necessary adjustments. As previously mentioned, I'm pregnant, so some modifications are necessary. But Dr. Gulick and Dr. Rubens have been great about fixing me up despite the challenges of my ginormous tummy. I should mention that I have not felt rushed while I was in the office, unlike some other experiences I have had with other chiropractors. They spend the necessary time to do the adjustments. I feel like they really cares about making sure that I'm feeling better when I leave the office! Since my chiro co-pay is $15 per visit, I appreciate feeling like i'm getting my money's worth!.
In summary, this is a fabulous chiropractic office, and I really wish I had found them sooner!

I??ve been going to Dr. Rubens for the past six months.. I was told by an MD to visit a chiropractor for lower back pain which surprised me - I thought that MDs had a strong bias against this type of treatment. I went to visit Dr. Rubens, and found significant relief. I have gotten almost complete relief from his treatments. I go see him every few weeks for fine tuning and I??m able to function daily with no pain. I highly recommend Dr Rubens for lower back pain!

i've been to both locations. I live in the southbay and work in west LA. So sometimes I go to the San Pedro office and other times I go to the Culver office. Dr Rubens and Dr Gulick are true healers. They are my goto guys when Im hurting. Theay also have the best massage therapist.

My parents are chiropractors in NY and the only people who had ever adjusted me. Obviously I had some uncertainties about seeing a new doc now that I'm in a new town! Dr Rubens rid me of these uncertainties and made me feel very comfortable. He and his staff are professional, efficient, and very friendly. I would recommend this practice to anyone.

My friend Sam referred to Guru and I m very grateful. I went there for adjustments after some lower back and neck pain became too much to bare. The doctors were really nice and thorough. Before they adjusted you, you are given a 15-30 minute therapy session. That was worth the $20 copay alone. I m very happy with this place.

Dr Rubens is the best there is. His hands are strong and his demeanor is professional. He continues to learn in his profession. I went to resolve issues with repetitive stress that caused pain throughout my back, arms and shoulders. We are working on that still-only because I cannot quit my job or stop playing on the computer. I have too long to work before retirement to take medication for the pain I was having -so I decided that chiropractic was the route to relief. It has helped immensely.

Happy to report that I have been seeing Dr. Rubens for some time now. It's VERY DIFFICULT to find a chiropractor who isn't full of it. I've been to many in the LA area and can testify to how awesome and honest Dr. Rubens is.

Number one, he's just an overall cool dude with great hours and stellar location. He is there to listen to your problems and fix them in no time. Sometimes you might be in his office for 5 minutes, other times for an hour. Basically my point is, he doesn't waste your time on frivolous work that you just don't need. SOOOO many chiros in the area will milk you try with useless xrays and recommend you come multiple times a week. Not this dude. He only suggests and gives what is absolutely necessary.

Now, as for his treating capabilities he's ON POINT. I normally just go in for the occasional neck crack that causes my headaches about once every 8 weeks or so but on occasion he's been there to help when I've done foolish things like fall down drunk down some stairs or hurt my back jetskiing. Oh the jetskiing thing - I really hurt my back this summer and I could barely muster the strength to get into his office. He worked some magic on my back for about 20 minutes and the next day my back felt normal again. I mean, this guy knows what he's doing.

Highly recommend this guy to anyone needing a chiro. Works wonders and again, doesn't rip you off. Dr. Rubens is ON POINT.

I LOVE Dr. Rubens. I've been going to him for 3 months now. He let's you come as often or infrequently as you'd like. He suggests exercises to help you and instead of trying to sell you fancy pillows, he suggests simple things like rolling up a towel for your neck. If there was a way to give him more stars, I would double them. He has improved my life immensely with his advice and care. I've recommended him to many people and they've all loved him just as much.

I've seen Dr. Rubens and Dr Gulick a number of times. They are excellent Chiropractors, who know what they are doing. I had a great Chiropractor when I lived in Iowa and was hoping to find another great one when I moved to LA. I had to waste my time and money on a few mediocre ones before I found these guys. They are friendly, professional and dont charge you a fortune for things you don't need. In fact, their rates are very good considering the calibre of care you get.

I was driving by on a Sunday and my neck was killing me. I walked in and got treated without an appointment. I waited about 15 minutes before I got to see the doctor but these guys were a life saver. I walked out completely pain free after 30 minutes. I got to enjoy the rest of my weekend.

I have been going to Dr Rubens for more than 6 months and he is all types of fabulous! He is very knowledgeable, listens to his patients (a true skill in the healing profession), and always takes enough time for you to feel amazing when you leave. I have gone to him in good times and bad, with and without insurance, and early in the morning and late in the day. I can't say enough good things about Dr Rubens

It is no surprise that Dr Rubens has such glowing reviews as he is a true professional. He is extremely knowledgeable, amazingly skilled and has a very calming presence. I am very hard on my body and my profession involves long hours of me on my feet and hunched over. After an adjustment (my favorite part) and the massage, I felt no pain for weeks. I left feeling like an enormous weight had been lifted from my body and had more energy at work for some time following my visit.
I certainly look forward to seeing him again. Also his Culver City space is elegant, clean and very relaxing to be in.

I almost didn't write a review forGuru Chiropractic, as I just assumed they would have a million positive reviews and mine would be redundant. But these doctors really know there stuff. I was first seen by Dr Rubens and he was really good and genuine. But the second visit was on a day he was at his other office, so I ended up seeing Dr. Gulick. I must say these guys are really the best. They are truly gurus of their craft. I've been to many chiropractors but these guys are the best by far.

I travel a lot. I see a lot of chiropractors. Dr. Rubens is, hands down, the best I've seen. The office is a well-oiled machine, the wait is never long and each patient is treated with individual care.
What I like best about Dr. Rubens is that he relies onhis years of experience to treat my neck problem. Rather than guessing, he knows exactly what's wrong. Because I'm only 35, most doctors did not take my . Now I take chiropractic care very, very seriously and am working on fixing the problem.
I highly recommend this office to friends in the LA area. I really think my decision to visit Dr. Rubens last month was one of the best ones I made in my life.
