On my never-ending quest for good ramen... I ended up in San Jose again. I got there right at noon so the place was already packed... waited about 10 mins for a table. If you showed up at 1, most of the tables would be open.

I got the Halu Ramen, added an egg and corn to it. The noodles were chewy and just perfectly cooked. The broth was very flavorul but it was just a wee bit salty for me...still good though. This was the first time a ramen shop cooked my egg to perfection, soft boiled with the egg yolks still soft to the touch. The corn was a fun touch, I found myself digging for gold when I finished my noodles at the end... yellow pieces of sweet crunch yellow gold! =)

I'll say this beats Maru Ichi so far...Halu is #1 so far in San Jose but I still have more places to try. Will update later if Halu loses it's #1 spot!

This ramen restaurant has its own special ramen, called the Halu Ramen.
It has a unique flavor of the restaurant's special soup with your choice or thin or thick ramen noodles!
There are many appetizers that you could order before waiting for your ramen!
The ramen is worth the wait and you could add more of your favorite toppings on your ramen with a reasonable price!
After eating at Halu, when you think of ramen, you would want to go to Halu!

Definitely the best ramen I've had in the U.S. I got mine with less salt and less fat, with an egg.

Haha! Well, up until this point, the only ramen I've had is from them. And now, because of Ramen Halu, I don't think I'll eat any other kind of ramen again! I don't remember what I got, but it was around $13. Yes, that's correct, $13! Forgot about the 10 for $1 stuff you get at Safeway. But, in all honesty, you get your money's worth. My bowl came with more vegetables and meat than in most combo plates at Panda Express! I've tried all the different broths and they're all delicious. In my opinion, they don't taste salty at all. They have a weird schedule, so make sure you give them a call before going down there. Also, it really does get crowded and their dining room is small, so be prepared for a wait.

Pros: Scrumptious ramen noodle soup, decent size servings

Cons: Can get crowded

This place has the best ramen in the bay area and I have tried many ramen places locally. To respond to previous reviewers, you can specify "less salty" when ordering, and japanese ramen everywhere in the world costs about the same, and lets not get into portion sizing...

A friend took me here for lunch and I've been coming here ever since. I love the noodle soup and it is not salty at all. Ramen Halu has a very authentic and cozy atmosphere with a cute little bar. It can be crowded on the weekends, so go early!

If you can stand the salty soup base, it may be worth the try. I ordered the Halu ramen. The taste of the soup wasnt deep enough. I went there because of a lot of people recommend that they have a very good ramen. I was expected their ramen could impress me but they did not. Their items are a bit pricy! I ordered a fatty pork appetizer that come with four tiny pieces and it was almost $5.00.

Pros: Near freeway 280

Cons: , too salty

Just trust me on this one. I've been eating Ramen around Japan and I thought I would never taste it over in the US. But Halu didn't betray me. Great Ramen, actually It's probably the best in the Bay. Give it a try. Go early, theres a line.
