I have to agree with the other reader. Walnut Creek Soccer Club is not well run. The house program is average but the competitive program is below par, across the board. Other clubs hold regular practices but this club, even at the competitive level, does not offer enough for the kids. The competitive coaching staff overall is far below other local clubs. These coaches get paid a good salary but some are extremely half-hearted, collecting only a paycheck. Boys' competitive coach Godwin Odiye is a good example. Good luck.

My children were a part of WCSC for many years, until we noticed that the training was not as strong as other local competitive soccer programs. We also were dismayed by the way we were treated by several members of the league when we expressed concerns about the program. It was obvious that the league is there to serve their own needs and not those of the children. They even told me that they are going to make a policy that once a child has accepted a place on a team (usually in March or April), they will not be allowed to transfer to another team until the next year, whether the fall season has started or not. This policy is a violation of CYSA bylaws and can be overturned by appeal to CYSA, but causes the child to miss several weeks of soccer games while the parent manages the red tape. Think twice before trying out in Walnut Creek!

Pros: They have a Recreational program that is a lot less political.

Cons: They feel like they own your child once you join the team and have complete control, regardless of any parental concerns.
