It was a rainy day when we stopped here. Looked like a nice place to rest up a bit. We had the fish and chips and they were simply divine. Perfect food for a blustery day.

This is one of the best places we ate on our trip to San Francisco. The clam chowder was simply divine (My wife actually ordered that) I had the fish and chips and loved it. This is a great place to go and eat. I highly recommend it.

???? I was a bit surprised to read these other reviews but we found this place to be absolutely wonderful. Our salmon was the best we've had and the service was wonderful, this is the place. My husband entertains clients monthly and this is the perfect place to conduct business as well as impress guests from out of town. You should try it

I ate at Pier Market on a recent trip to Pier 39 and had a great time. The waitress was nice and the clam chowder was D-licious! My dad loved his salmon burger and my sister said the the fish and chips were the best she'd ever had. We'll be back.

Where should you take out of town guests for fish and good clam chowder sourdough bowls? Not here! This place is over crowded, hot, expensive, bad service, and not that great food.

Ok, maybe I'm being a little harsh. The food was pretty good, but I've definitely had better. I think I may have had a bad taste in my mouth from the horrible service. Two of the 3 bread bowls our table ordered were set in front of us (and touched) when the waitress ran back because she realized they were for a different table. GROSS!! I wonder how many people touched my bread bowl before I got it.

I would possibly come back to this restaurant on a weekday evening when it might not be so crowded. But probably not. :( Go to Boudins! It will be crowded, but at least the food is fresh and hot!

Cons: pricey, crowded, bad service

I've been to this restaurant a few times when I venture down to Pier 39. It's not bad, but it's also not the best. The crab cake sandwich is pretty good, and their garlic fries with parmesan cheese are great, but as for seafood, there's much better out there. It's also a bit pricey.

We went here on the 4th of July. The place was packed. We waited about 30 minutes for our table. I thought due to the amount of people that it was going to be a long meal. I was very wrong.our server was excellent. I think his name was Brian? I had the salmon, my wife had chowder in sourdough and my son had fish and chips. The food came out fast and was very good. The staff was all working together. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area.

Five us of visited on a Monday evening about 8:00. Our server was very friendly and attentive, as was the rest of the wait staff. I ordered the bowl of Clam Chowder and the appetizer Crab Cakes. The chowder was thick and creamy with a good amount of clams. The crab cakes were predominantly crab meat and browned well; a crispy crust on the outside. There were two cakes; each about 2" in diameter.

My husband ordered the Shrimp Carbonara. It was not at all like a traditional carbonara; more like a primavera. There were no peas or cream sauce; the dish mainly consisted of shrimp, linguine, tons of zucchini and a couple of pieces of broccoli and and carrots with a sprinkling of bacon. We questioned the server about the dish; they did replace his dish without the zucchini as he does not like it.

I don't believe pasta is a strong point of the restaurant; stick to the fish.

Another great stop on Pier 39 , prices are right for the touristy area. Clam Chowder - not the best I have ever had but stands up and is worth a try!!

I love this place! The atmosphere is great! The people are usually accommodating and friendly; I can't remember a time were they weren't friendly. The clam chowder stands up to it's reputation as being one of the best. But everything that I have eaten here has always been real tasty.

Another great stop at Pier 39, Pier Market Seafood Restaurant offers a superb selection of seafood entrees. Their clam chowder is award-winning! It's always busy though, so plan accordingly.

Among all of the shopping at Pier 39, this stop was most welcomed. The bartender was one of the most friendly & delightful people we encountered on our vacation & totally MADE this place. Aside from the view of the pier near the sea lions & docked ships, the food was great. The bartender highly recommended the sweet and sour calamari -- WOW! This is a MUST. A few stiff drinks & a little more browsing thru all of the pier shops - it's a nice way to end a day on the wharf.

I have to admit I expected a mediocre, "touristy" experience here but was very pleasantly surprised. OuWe were seated promptly. Our waitperson was exceptional and the food was wonderful and fresh. The crab cakes were a treat and the calimari was tender and delicious. My shrimp platter was excellent--several types of shrimp each with its own distinct character (it didn't taste like the same old shrimp just cokked a bit differently--it was better than that!). The ambience was nice and the overall experience was memorable. I have eaten at several of the Pier cafes and rate this as one of the best overall.

The food is good and the service is great! This is a consistent favorite that I often recommend and bring friends because I know that everyone will enjoy it. Parking is easy, the pier is fun, and it is very affordable. This is a must try!
