I went to HomePointe as a ?highly qualified? renter (verifiable income of over 3x the rent, excellent references, etc.). Here?s a tiny portion of why I say DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH HOMEPOINTE:
1.After applying, I called (multiple times) to find out if I had been approved, no one would return my calls. I should have taken the clue then, but?
2.When I went to collect the keys, the walkthrough had been completed without my input and was nowhere near accurate. There was furniture left behind and the place was not clean. I told the agent that I wanted to amend the walkthrough sheet and he refused. I said I wouldn?t sign it and he said he wouldn?t give me the keys if I didn?t. With no where else to live, I signed ? adding my own disclaimer.
3.Some of my service requests included: a flooded yard (from faulty sprinkler system), termites, storm damage, broken door lock, leaky windows, a shorted-out front entry light fixture, a faucet that would not shut off ? not denied ? IGNORED. I had to do most of the repairs myself.
4.The agent asked me to sign a new lease. I said I would if they would fix the problems that they said would be fixed prior to my moving in ? ignored.
5.Once I?d had enough abuse and was moving out, the agent (and the agent?s supervisor) refused to complete the required walkthrough per California Civil Code.
6.They were abusive even after I moved out, claiming I was a problem renter to potential new landlords who contacted them for a reference. (If I was so bad, why keep me as a tenant for 2.5 years after my lease ended and then beg me to sign a new lease?)
7.In 3.5 years, I had four different agents and dealt with the supervisor of one of them. Collectively, they were dishonest, rude, condescending and negligent.
Don?t let their inventory fool you. I rented a nice house that looked well-maintained, but see how much you like living in your ?nice house? with no entry light and a broken lock.

Pros: Absolutely NONE

Cons: Simply Horrible!

HomePoint has the worst service I haver seen. The rental I was in had several city, state and federal code violations. There health violations also. I made several attempt to have the black mold attended to and there was no respnso from HomePointe. The blck mold was from the leaking roof that leaked for 4 months. I made several requests to have this fixed and HomePointe didnt do anything about until my washing machine blew out because the leak was over the washing machin alny at first it was coing down throught the walls and damged a door in the master bedroom. They didnt fix that also. I had to spend 50 dollars to fix the door not to mention the time and desposal of the old door. The HVAC was leaking air into the attac and since that is my background after making several calls and emails I had to fis it myself to get my utlities bills under control. There were no screns an the windows and it costed us about 1200.00 dollars in electricity for 3 months because we couldnt open the windows because of flys and other creatures that fly around. There was also junk left behind by the old tennants that we mad arraigments for the first few trips to the dump but needed several more wgich we made that costed about 250.00 bucks. We were never reimbursed. We also had to paint because a cheap contractor came out and did shotty repairs and did a crappy job. We had 5 or 6 neighbor complaints because this rental was in dire need of attention as a result of neglect. The first day we took possesion of the rental we noticed the living room smeeld like cat urine. We didnt notice this when we first looked at. We spent the next 24 months trying to this taken care of and informed HomePointe about 20 or thirty times and we spent a little over 1100.00 in steam cleaner rentals and carpet shampoo and ultiamtely bought a steam cleaner just to get the smell out. We spent over $4000.00 dollars fixing stuff around the rental mainly because we try to live in a run down house. BEWARE Jannelle SUX
