I've been in towing almost 10 years. Recently I was asked to just call Double R Towing to get information for my Mom because they wouldn't tell her anything. I called and finally got a hold of Martin. He was beyond rude and when I asked him for information he said he would have to call me back because he didn't know anything about the car. I ended up calling him back after 45 mins. He again was rude until I explained that I am also in towing and it's not my car, oh and that I live 300+ miles away. Then he still spoke to me as though I was an idiot but not as rudely. He explained to me their fees and why the vehicle was impounded. He also then told me per CHP "up there" that we would need 2 additional licenses drivers to get a release and that the vehicle could NOT be towed out. HMMM...I've been a contracted CHP provider the last 10 years, guess the Ventura boys do it differently. He then tried to negotiate a CASH deal and signing of the title if we weren't interested in retrieving the vehicle. He also denied access to the vehicle for removal of property unless we paid the tow fees, again with CASH. I don't know how Ventura does it, but that doesn't fly here. I know my tow laws by heart and it's obvious this guy only knows dollar signs. We'll see what CHP says after they listen to the recorded telephone calls.

Had car towed by HOA. I have all of what I am about to post recorded on video at their location. Martin asked that I bring CASH ONLY (when VC section 22658 (k) clearly states any tow company must offer Credit card or cash payments) When we pointed this out to us he told us to leave his property. Then we told him we are aware of the law and where going to call the police, Suddenly he was willing to work with us again but still Only Cash. After we payed the cash(were forced to if I didn't want extra fees or wait another day for my car). Basically we were strong armed into 305 cash to get the car. Even after getting the car there was damage to the inside from where the tow driver had broken in to the car.

On top of all of this once I got the car back and told Martin because I knew my rights I would file to collect legal damages for forcing to pay cash. He then got out of his truck came across the street forcefully and yelled I know where you live.

He also told the clients there before us how to defraud there insurance company and get reimbursed for the towing. There car had been towed for being in a parking lot over night after a (Again every statement I made is true sand I have live video shot at his offices to prove every bit of it).

Below is a copy of the state law available at
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/...

(k) (1) A person operating or in charge of a storage facility where vehicles are stored pursuant to this section shall accept a valid bank credit card or cash for payment of towing and storage by a registered owner, the legal owner, or the owner's agent claiming the vehicle. A credit card shall be in the name of the person presenting the card. "Credit card" means "credit card" as defined in subdivision (a) of Section 1747.02 of the Civil Code, except, for the purposes of this section, credit card does not include a credit card issued by a retail seller.

(2) A person described in paragraph (1) shall conspicuously display, in that portion of the storage facility office where business is conducted with the public, a notice advising that all valid credit cards and cash are acceptable means of payment.

(3) A person operating or in charge of a storage facility who refuses to accept a valid credit card or who fails to post the required notice under paragraph (2) is guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of not more than two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500), or by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than three months, or by both that fine and imprisonment.

(4) A person described in paragraph (1) who violates paragraph (1) or (2) is civilly liable to the registered owner of the vehicle or the person who tendered the fees for four times the amount of the towing and storage charges.

*****IN THE NEXT 2 or 3 DAYS I WILL BE POSTING ALL MY VIDEOS OF MARTIN AND HIS (what I call) Shady Business Practices. I will post those links here.
(about 5 total videos, had to keep starting and stopping on my phone)

http://www.youtube.com...
This is the 1st uploaded video of Martin of Double r Towing helping the two guys in front of us on how to Defraud their insurance company.

We are also filing in small claims on Tuesday for the not accepting Cc (we should get 4x the 305.00) per the law listed above. We will post with the updates as they happen.

A truck my husband sold over a year ago was impounded, they sent us a bill for over 1,000$ claiming he was the registered owner. He called explaining he was NOT and that he had sent in the release of liability and confirmed that with the DMV. The person on the phone called him "hard headed" and said he had to phisically bring in the document to prove it. FYI my husband is a firefighter with one day off, who should be relaxing today not worrying about this bull#$%& going on our credit. Going down the registration line hoping someone forgot to send in the release of liability so you can screw them is ridiculous and dirty. Not cool.

Martin the man in charge is nothing but a scamer.
Disgusting man to do business with. He tows for the police department, but sooner or later they will find out all the dirty jobs he is doing. If yo need some towing use Toms towing, here is the number (805) 647-0733

If you dont believe me just call double r towing in ventura and say your car got towed and you see the kinda people you are working with. Our car was not a police impound, we hire them to tow our car, and they stole a 20 dollar bill, i had by my hand brake, when i tried to talk to them they were totally rude!!

I have been looking them up online and they have nothing but complaints!

and look below if they are replaying to the other man's comment why do the have to rate them selves with 5 stars, the rating should be up to us the consumers not them, see, they are being dirty again!!

Does anyone relize just how many cars are towed on a daily basis??
And everyone has a story! its not mine, I sold it, i have no idea what car you are talking about so on and so on.........

unfortunately not everyone is honest, so proof has to be provided, and the DMV paperwork is said proof

When a car is towed after 72 hours a lien is ran on said car thru the DMV.
The DMV then tell us who the registered owners are and if the car is not picked up by said registered owner they are sent to collections. for services preformed
if the car is not yours then for your records you should file paperwork with the DMV and send copys to the tow yard this covers you in all directions

do you know how many people call a day saying they are not the owner of a car???

Too many to count and we do not argue with people we give them the answers to problem , go to dmv and get proof you sold the car simple. if you dont have time a release can be done on the DMV website and sent to our office.

DMV updated the release record every 6 months and if the person you sold it to does not register it then you are still the registered owner thats how DMV works sorry

thats why record need to be keep when you sell a car dont just hand over the pink slip
relaese it online a keep it for your records

this is a business and someone always needs to push blame on to someone else

unfortunately its always the tow companys fault

This company towed my car illegaly, and now they want to charge fees that are very high to where they make the fees higher than the value of the car so you end up just giving the car to them. Dont ever use their service, My friend got his cared impounded by Double R Towing and he got there the same day and they had already break into his car, stole his laptop and other stuff he had in there.

Pros: Martin the owner is a scamer

.

My Husband and I got a car from Martin's Double "R" Towing "aka" Martin's Double Auto Sales...etc and we cannot get this car a clean title. Per the DMV no transfer of tile was ever received. My Husband called Martin and told him we did not have everything we needed to get a clean title and Martin replied "you have everything and the paperwork was mailed to the DMV and it is not his problem if the paperwork never made it there (in one of the nastiest tones). To say the least we are left with a 2500 lb worthless paperweight due to his negligence. He could have at least re-submitted his part of the the DMV paperwork, or salvage package if in fact he ever did his part of the paperwork. Needless to say here we are 6 months later and several trips to the DMV, and even researching the old owner and having him sign a bill of sale we still cannot get a clear Title, again, due to negligence on his part. Sure, we got an old car, that's what we wanted; however, it would be nice to have it legal, instead of looking stolen per DMV's eyes.

I recommend that "NO ONE" ever use this business.
