If you are looking for a co-location facility or need high speed access to your business, check out BAIS, Inc ( Bay Area Internet Solutions). They not only give you the best price/value in the bay area, they provide you with the best service and support. The support staff is truly knowledgeable and extremely helpful.
two years ago we purchased a T1 line from them and last year, we moved our production system to their co-location facility. 2 months ago, one of our production systems server crashed in the middle of the night. Because BAIS was monitoring our systems, they were able to find out about the problem immediately and contacted us right away. They didn't require us to go there and were able to fix the problem and bring up the server in no time. They saved us. I am extremely happy with their level of response and support. I do recommend BAIS to anybody hwo is looking for a fine co-location space or needs a high speed access.

Pros: support, price, location

Our relationship with BAIS started off as most do with the signing of a yearlong contract that was fairly standard though slightly more expensive than other options.

Several months later we received our usual bill with a $2,000 bandwidth overage charge. We talked to BAIS and Guy (not his real name) was pretty clear that he didn?t know why the bandwidth increased but the problem is ours - though he would be happy to look into it at $125/hour - and ominously warned we better up our monthly bandwidth if we don?t want more charges in the future, which we did.

After increasing our bandwidth we continued to search for the problem and discovered that each and every one of our servers had been setup by BAIS with FTP ports open and anonymous login allowed. As a result we got port scanned and a bunch of gamers started using our bandwidth for their purposes.

We closed the FTP ports and asked BAIS if we could return to the original bandwidth level and they said they would only do so if we signed a new one year contract.

At this point I gave up realizing these were disingenuous people that are willing to bait and switch on their written word. We simply rode out the rest of the contract and then moved to Rackspace.

In the end we got charged a lot of money for an overage that was at least in part the result of lax server setup procedures. We were then pushed to sign up to a much higher level of service that we didn?t actually need. When the error was discovered they refused to let us return to our original contract terms unless we signed on for another year.

BAIS earned literally thousands of dollars off of us for services we never used due to mistakes for which they were in part responsible. If you want an honest and competent internet service provider do not go to Bay Area Internet Solutions.
