During the spring the flowers at the flower fields are absolutely beautiful! It is such a wonderful place to take kids for pictures. They do charge $9 for adults and $5 for children to walk through the flower fields. Parking can be tough as the fields are located behind a very popular outlet mall.

This is a beautiful location to take some fantastic photos. The entire hillside in covered in flowers usually during April and May. I took some great pictures of my girls here.

If you go at the right time, the flower fields are beautiful! Don't forget your camera! It is also an excellent place to buy fresh flowers. You can take an interesting guided tractor ride around the fields or simply walk and take photos. They also have a nice playground for the children.

My husband and I make an annual trip to the Carlsbad Flower Fields in the Spring. As the years have gone by, it's become more and more crowded with sadly less and less acreage. Despite that, we drive from LA just so see the hills become living rainbows of color. Their rose garden has been enlarged and during the Spring it's not only lovely to see but it smells great...unlike the ranunculus that grow on the hills. We'll roam the fields together or apart...just taking photos of whatever catches our eyes. Of course...one of the big attractions for us is not even officially the Flower Fields...but literally...the Strawberry Fields that are just across the street. You can grab baskets and pick your own...our just buy them from the stand. Usually by the time we get home from the Flower Fields, we've gone through at least 3 baskets...and I'm complaining that I ate too many. What can I say? Tradition is Tradition.

Cons: parking gets crazy if you don't get there early
