I recently had lunch with a friend at Miss Peaches in North Hollywood. Its a cute charming place with a really friendly staff. We both ordered chicken and waffles and shared some of the gooey butter cake, which tasted like a fluffy

I actually found this place while looking through CitySearch one day for a veg friendly place in NoHo. I never imagined I would find it in a Southern BBQ joint! Miss Peaches has BBQ for sure and I have heard it is amazing. But what drew me was the vegetarian side dishes! In fact all of the side dishes are made vegetarian style- including the collard greens and bakes beans. The flavors are amazing and well balanced- not too sweet or salty. The corn bread is crispy and slightly sweet, served hot and plentiful. You will not believe these sides are truly vegetarian but they are! Just ask the owner- he is the cook as well!

Cons: Small dining area- no AC

As 2009 ends, I wanted to say that one of my highlights for the year was finding Miss Peaches. I try to get there once or twice a week for all the down home cooking I miss from my childhood.

Everything I have tried on the menu is fantastic. I especially like the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans. Another favorite meal is the 4 veggie combo. The mac & cheese is like no other.

I ordered a gooey butter cake for Thanksgiving and everyone raved about it. I can't say enough about how wonderful the food is and everyone I take for lunch goes back on their own. Umm Umm Good!!!

SO...I was talking about being homesick and one of my friends suggested I visit Miss Peaches. Well...I have been here twice and am in LOVE!! Originally from Arkansas, it is hard to find good southern cooking out here...but I definitely found it at Miss Peaches. It feels like you are sitting in your momma's kitchen and you can't beat the sweet tea in mason jars!! Everything I have had is delicious. My favorites are the fried catfish (w/ plenty of hot sauce), string beans and the yams!! Oh and the cornbread muffins are great! The Red Velvet cake is WONDERFUL but nothing compares to the Gooey Butter cake!! SOOOO YUMMMMY!! Will definitely be back again...again....and again!!!

I had the catfish, greens, yams, and wow the desserts. Everything was amazing. We split the gooey butter cake and red velvet cake and I can't decide which was better. Will definitely go back!

I'm from the south and my grandmother was an amazing cook. I would have to say Miss Peaches is by far the best Southern cooking I have tasted since coming out west. Their fried chicken was not to greasy, the greens and mashed potatoes were very tasty!

The owner is a big ray of "Sunshine"! He makes all of the desserts and they are amazing!! I had the Peach Cobbler and took a slice of the Red Velvet Cake to go.

Very warm atmosphere.....Just like home!

I just moved to North Hollywood from Oklahoma six months ago. Where I come from, there is no shortage of amazing barbeque, mouth-watering catfish, and one of the best soul food restaurants in the state is six blocks from where I grew up. This place is right up there with Kin Folks in Tulsa! We were looking for a place with fried chicken in our area, and we did a google search. Found these reviews and decided to try it! What a find! I had the Fried Chicken and my special lady-friend had the catsfish, which was the best thing at the table. The cornbread was also amazing. Aside from the food being great, the atmoshpere of the place is perfect. So small, there's nothing seperating the seating from the kitchen. The man who took care of us was so cool and friendly. It seriously felt like a small place you'd find back home and tell all your friends. Not like L.A. Cute and laid-back. And the prices were more than fair. It was a great experience and I will be going back soon.

I love Miss Peaches fried catfish and chicken wings, and I loved the collard greens and yams, but when it came to the desserts, omg... the sock it to me cake is to die for. It is the best cake I have ever had! It makes you want to have dessert first then your entree.

Great cornbread but best part is the yams. Make sure you get that as one of your sides. The classic sides are greens and black eyed peas which they do perfectly. The meatloaf is perfect. I also like that I can see the whole kitchen from the dining area. Only a real fastidious crew dares to cook under those circumstances. JB

The main courses are just like your mother used to make, but the sides are all made without meat. This makes for a healthier meal yet the flavor does not suffer, in fact it might even be better. You can bring your vegetarian friends because there is a choice of ordering just the meat free sides with his wonderful cornbread. The decadent desserts are made on site by the owner, the only problem trying to not order them all.

The owner makes you feel as if you are sitting in his kitchen. It is like being invited to a party in his home hanging out with new friends. The restaurant is small and homey and a place I want to go to again and again.

A small but charming restaurant on Lankershim Blvd in North Hollywood, Miss Peaches is a a real find and treasure! The restaurant has a comfortable atomshphere, with the kitchen visible to the patrons. You can watch the staff prepare your meals!! The menu is an amazing collection of Southern dlights including several smothered dishes, fried chicken, hot links and sides like a wonderful macaroni and cheese!! All are freshly prepared and servied with cornbread. No matter how good the meals are, however, you have to leave room for desert! There is always a good selection from which to choose and, again, they are all prepared at the restaurant and vary from day to day. The red velvet cake is to die for!! Truly amazing!! And all of this great food is served in a warm and welcoming atmosphere where, after a few visits, the staff will recognize you and welcome you back when they see you coming through the door!! If you like Southern food, Miss Peaches should not be missed!!!

This is our fave place to go for southern food, worth the drive to NoHo. The staff are helpful and relaxed, the music is cool, and then there is the food. Heavenly. We are trying to make our way through the entire menu and so far nothing has disappointed. Highlights are the fried chicken, smothered pork chop, catfish sandwich and the pulled pork sandwich which are allunreal, coleslaw is crisp, greens are fresh, sweet potatoe fries(which upon recommendation we dipped in honey-yum)gravy should be smothering everything {it is that great} and the gooey butter cake is a religious experience. But don't forget the lemon cake, moist and tart with a touch of sweetness. Also it's fun to wash it all down with a glass of Kool-Aid. When was the last time you did that?

Miss Peaches is hands down the only place I go to for authentic Southern food in Los Angeles! I am from the South and have had my share of great meals, but the fried chicken and baked beans at Miss Peaches take the cake. Its simply amazing! The staff always welcomes me and makes me feel right home. The homey atmosphere is a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Overall my spot for comfort food or when I am in need of some good home cooking- complete with sweet tea! Love love love this place!

We live in Portland and hadn't been to Los Angeles for a bit over a year. With businesses going out of business lately we were delighted to find that Miss Peaches is not only still open but thriving compared to many others. We found the menu had been extended somewhat without removing our favorites. Each time my wife eats meatloaf I ask her how it compares to Connell's.( the owner)) No one comes close. I always have the catfish but this time I wanted to try something else and couldn't decide. I asked the extremely personable waitress to choose something for me. The best BBQ chicken I've ever eaten! Nothing pretentious in this pleasant little hole in the wall but the prices are fair and your tummy will thank you!

I'm not much of a Soul Food fan ...or at least I thought. Being a typical white girl who eats the typical Californian healthy foods, I was in much protest of checking out Miss Peaches for a meal. After hearing about it for so long, a few celebrity friends convinced me to go. First of all let me tell you that I am the most picky eater out there. I don't really eat meat (don't like the taste), I don't like greasy foods, not too much this or that, etc., etc. I 'm even the type of person that pulls out the paper napkin to soak up any excess oil or grease. Well.....let me just say..."Ohhhh my God!!" Talk about comfort food! This has to be the most amazing Soul Food I've ever eaten. I practically inhaled the Meat Loaf (and I don't like meat), the Cat Fish was amazing, and appeared to be baked (even though it was not). The Sweet Tea, Lemonade, Red Velvet Cake, Green Beans, Yams, etc......all top of the line! I took another "California", who told me that she does not like Red Velvet Cake (apparently no one can make it properly)....she was literally eating her words. I did not have the fried chicken, however, my friend appeared to be using the same Hoover Vacuum Cleaner that I use when I go to Miss Peaches. Have you ever had something sooo good that you keep eating it, even though your stuffed - well this is it. ........ Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!!!!

Last night, I suggested this place to a friend because I had been once and loved the food. It's very hard to find authentic Southern food in L.A., and I had a huge craving for it. So, I spent time building up the place to my friend only to end up being extremely embarrassed by what took place.

Yes, the food still tasted good, but I wasn't even able to enjoy it.

Our drinks came after our food, but that was only a very minor thing compared to what transpired next. My friend very nicely, and I want to emphasize, very nicely, told the wait staff that he had been brought the wrong food. The "manager" then came over, and my friend told him the same thing only to be snapped at and told, "You get what the server writes down!" He then grabbed my friend's plate and stormed off to the kitchen which is in open view to the dining area, and then angrily begin to "correct" the order. I think we were both just kind of in shock as we sat there. But then it got even worse. The manager then stormed over and waved the order slip in front of my friend with a "See!" as if it were our fault the order was written down wrong. My friend took the order slip to look for himself, even though it couldn't possibly have anything to with him, only to have the slip then literally snatched from his hand by the manager who then stormed off once again in a huff.

By this point, I had lost my appetite, and I felt bad for suggesting the place. The manager then came over and apologized saying he had taken out his frustrations with the staff on us. Ummm...I think customers should be the LAST people you do that, too. By this time, dinner was ruined anyway. Another staff member came over and then aplogized again saying that if we came back we'd never have to deal with him again. Uh, too late.

The correct food finally came, but at that point who could enjoy it. I have to give it to my friend though for keeping his cool so well with the situation.

We heard about this place from a co-worker. Went in on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy when we got there at 5:30 but the place sure came alive in a hurry. Our waitress was so nice. She didn't bother us too much and our order was taken right after we got our drinks. We had sweet tea which was nice, but different from normal ice tea. I ordered Fried Chicken and my wife had Pan Fried Red Snapper and shrimp.

The portions were huge! Great value for the money! The music was awesome. It was a combo of blues, jazz and good country soul. We had the yams, red beans and rice, string beans and mac/cheese with our meals and lots of corn bread. We were so stuffed! They didn't serve coffee but desserts were awesome! We tried the RED VELVET CAKE and Peach Cobbler. The cake was incredible....took 2 more pieces home for the weekend. The cobbler was warm and gooey. Wish they did it ala mode!

I highly recommend this place. Parking is on the street and it wasn't too busy when we got there. By the time we left, all the tables inside were full. We'll be back and bring some people with us!

I just had dinner at Miss Peaches in NoHo because my buddy had some odd craving for fried chicken and this place was mentioned on Citysearch. He went through the fried chicken like a hot knife through butter. I ordered the smothered pork chops and thought the gravy was great but I wished that the pork chop was a little more tender. We ended our meal with the gooey butter pie... oh man that was really rich. It was like a creme brulee pie.

My family and I were told about Miss Peaches by a co-worker of mine. I took my wife, daughter and parents here to try it out. When we walked in the place and the music was wonderful, the aromas were overwhelming and our waiter walked up and greeted us with a bright smile. We were seated and just took it all in. After ordering drinks - try the SWEET TEA, we ordered dinner. We tried the Fried Chicken, Golden Glazed Chicken, BBQ Hot Links with rice and beans, Meat Loaf and Fried Catfish. The portions were huge and very appealing. We got warm cornbread muffins and a choice of 2 sides with each entree. We tried them all but the favorites were the Yams, Mac & Cheese and Green Beans!

For dessert we had the Lemon Cake and Peach Cobbler. We took some Red Velvet Cake home and ate it while watching T.V. - YUM! All we needed was a good cup of southern coffee and we'd been set.

Parking is on the street infront of the restaurant...we didn't have too far to walk. Nice atmosphere and very nice staff taking care of everything we needed. We liked it so much that we've decided to use them for a party at home over the holidays.

I highly recommend Miss Peaches. Go hungry and you won't be dissappointed!

My girlfriend was craving soul food so we decided to check this place out and it was a "yummy find". If you're looking for a fancy/upstyle place to eat, this place isn't for you. But if you are looking for some good, down to earth soul food, this is the place to be! The cafe is very simple, but cozy. As soon as we walked in, we received a warm welcome. The staff was quick to seat us and made accomodations for our party of six.

We ordered the fried catfish and snapper, the fried pork chop (which was cooked to perfection), the meatloaf, and BBQ chicken. All dishes were delicious! We ended our dinner w/ their homemade lemon cake and "gooey cake( taste like cheesecake, but not)".

We were disappointed to find out that on their menu, they had "new orleans jumbalaya" listed, but we found out that they only have that on their catering menu. There were certain items on their "dinner menu" that were only available on their "catering menu" and we were disappointed that we didn't get to order it as an entree.

Other than that, I would definitely recommend this cafe. Staff is friendly, prompt seating, their soul food is definitely one of the best....

Pros: Cozy atmosphere, Good service, Great food

Cons: Street Parking
