The service at Heaven Dragon is the worst you'll ever experience at a restaurant. The waitresses will make you wait a long time to order. They will ignore your empty beverage glasses and then make you wait forever to pay. Tom, the manager

This food is really quite good; simple and usually flavored as one would expect (some surprises which are nice). The service is quick, prompt and polite. I have tried everything on the menu, and am partial to any of the spicy shrimp dishes as well as the hot and sour soup. The prices are fantastic, especially when ordering the lunch special or the duck (which I think is very difficult to cook well). Bring a date if you are low on funds or a wealthy fan of Chinese food.
Now for anyone worried about the reputation of the owner, remember that we live in the United States(capitolist country)! This man is a great restaurateur, so if the food is good... eat it! The food is great and every time that I have met Mr. Tang he was very nice as was the staff, so I will continue to eat at the Heaven Dragon as long as I can.

Cons: Reputation

Instead of a leisurely dinner with my family, I felt more like I was being served in a Prison Camp. The server was very abrupt and it felt more like we were being a burden, The egg drop soup was bland, the General Tao's chicken was overcooked.
Friends recommended this place as the best, unfortunately I will not be reccommending this place to anyone, now I can see why President Bush ordered take out, felt very uncomfortable the entire time I was in the place, also, it appears as if the recent money laundering investigation has also caused them to lose their liquor license until further notice.

We LOVE Heaven Dragon's food! However, we have only visited once since the drug dealing scandal came to light. We are broken-hearted because I just can't support an establishment that is in the middle of criminal drug charges. Boo!

My family and I had eaten here before with good memories. However, on our last visit it was a great disappointment. The waitress made a rude comment to us when we ordered. Upon asking her to repeat what she said, she denied making the comment. It was too late we had already heard her say it. When the order came (Sesame Chicken) it was very hard. There was also a hair in the rice that we ordered. The taste was bland. This is one family and friends that will not be going back. Big disappointment!

DENVER ?? FOX 31 News has confirmed that local and federal authorities are investigating suspicions that a corrupt cop tipped off an alleged contraband lord that he was under investigation.

It was the largest investigation of its kind in the country last February.

Court documents tie politically-connected Thornton restaurant owner Dan Tang to a multi-million dollar illegal substance ring.

Investigators raided numerous homes, seized 24,000 illegal plants worth $24 million dollars. But FOX 31 News has confirmed that an anonymous letter tipped off Tang that the cops were watching and as a result, he began dismantling the operation.

Police were worried about losing evidence and started raiding the houses. During one of those raids, they found the secret letter warning Tang.

FOX 31 has also confirmed authorities believe the letter was written by an officer on the North Metro contraband Task Force. It leaked details and spilled information only someone involved in the investigation would know.

The DEA and representatives of the eight law enforcement agencies on the task force say they cannot comment because the investigation is on-going. But they did issues a statement saying they became aware of a "breach of confidentiality" last February that "involved the release of information that directly and negatively impacted an active investigation."

They say they launched a joint investigation with the DEA which continues today. And add they intend to identify and prosecute the person or persons responsible.

We are new to the Denver area and stumbled onto Heaven Dragon in Arvada (of w 64th), thinking it was another boring strip mall chinese restaurant. Wrong! It was a cozy, unique little dine-in place. The staff was courteous and service was prompt. The food was great. Even my children love Heaven Dragon. Wether we eat in or take out, the food is always good. The kids love the sweet & sour chicken, I love the orange chicken and my husband always gets the beef lomein. The prices are very reasonable and we always have leftovers - which we always finish the next day. Heaven Dragon has quickly become a favorite that the whole family can agree on.

My family and I have been eating at Heaven Dragon since Tony owned it YEARS ago, when it was in the other side of the strip mall. When Dan bought it the quality and service went up and we've spent TONS of money there. It's the only Chinese place I go to and we order take-out from there as often as possible. I love the atmosphere and if Dan's in when we visit he always stops by our table for a chat. I couldn't care less about the pictures in the reception/cashiers area. It's the food that matters to me and it's FANTASTIC! Too bad I'm stuck in Manhattan, KS and can't just go pick up my favorite dish whenever I want. I miss Heaven Dragon!

The Republican decor didn't bother me...in fact for those who won't eat there because of it all I can say is "Cool...it's just more good food for me!" I absolutely am hooked on thier Wallnut Chicken and I am not big on Chinese foods, but this stuff I love! It's always way more than I can eat and I always have enough left over for another meal for lunch. I loved the decor...the tables and booths were beautiful and I loved the murals. I thought the service we recieved was wonderful. A very nice young lady. I would recomend it to anyone and have taken my sister in law there when she was here from Oregon and she loved it too. We usually do take out and its always fresh, hot and more than generous helpings. It's my favorite restraunt in Thornton.

My friend and I went to this restaurant because I had read the reviews and thought I would try it out. We actually got lost on the way there (I'm still very new to Denver) and when I called, the owner answered and gave me specific directions from where I was. (Very nice!) I was expecting a normal Chinese restaurant and when I got there I was so surprised! The business is actually in a something like a strip mall, but the atmosphere was fantastic! All the windows are a type of stained glass art. The beautiful tables and chairs were even like a decorative part of the whole place. Old style lamps! We felt like we were back in Japan at one of the tea houses there. We were greeted very warmly and seated promptly. As soon as we were seated our server was there with water and ready to take our drink orders. I was so happy they even had choices for their hot tea! We finally decided on our food, not too many choices though. Our food arrived piping hot and much faster than I expected and it was served to us by the Chef himself! The food was very good. Most places have overpowering spices that seem to conquer the taste of the other ingredients. This place had food that was seasoned to perfection! I could taste the meat and the vegetables and it was all cooked. The meat was perfect for the dish and the vegetables were just right. I had the Scallops in Shrimp sauce and it was to die for. My friend had a Beef dish (not sure what it was, but it was tasty). The portions were really big... too big for me to eat. I already recommended this restaurant to several people and they have all told me great things as well. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to taste their meal not just the seasoning!

Me and my family have enjoyed Heaven Dragon for many years. The food quality and service are consistently good. A store front local does not represent Heaven Dragon well and may keep some from missing out on some very good Chinese. The menu is ever expanding and diverse. Personal favories are Orange Beef and Lemon Chicken with Combination Lo mein. I have read a few of the reviews about the Republican lobby which it is mostly, however there is a Democrat or two pictured with the owner Dan. One of my favorite parts of Heaven Dragon is the owner who as a young man escaped Communist China, made his way to the United States and has become an owner of a sucessful business that has served the even the President. A very great and inspiring accomplishment that pallets from either side of the aisle can enjoy.

My husband I have been eating here for years, and his parents even longer. We all agree that Heaven Dragon is going downhill. They stopped putting veggies in the fried rice so now it's just well, overly salty rice. The pork lo mein used to be our favorite dish but something is different - a lack of flavor it used to have. Now it just seems way too full of oil. The orange chicken used to be better too - in fact if you go to Heaven Dragon's counter part in Arvada you'll find that the Orange Chicken is to die for! The way it used to be here. Dan, the republican loving owner, could also use a lesson in being humble. Since he knows my husbands family he always comes to talk to us at our table, which is nice - except when it's just to boast about his recent accomplishment. One recent trip left us disgusted when Dan helped himself to food off of my Mother-in-law's dish!?! Gross. The service is something that has improved. We've always been used to rushed servers who were less than polite. They've hired more servers in the last year who are very friendly and attentive. Bottom line, Heaven Dragon is a long time favorite of ours but it looks like we'll be looking for a new favorite. If you are going to eat here go during lunch, the prices are better and the meal comes with soup and egg roll.

In 2001 my husband and I moved to the Thornton area, and just down the street from us is the Heaven Dragon restaurant. From the outside it doesnt look like anything special. Its nuzzled in a corner of a Safeway parking lot and just looks to be one of the many run-of-the-mill Chinese food restaurants that frequent Colorado, which is why it took us a couple of years of living in the area before finally deciding to try it. Im kicking myself now for not trying it sooner. If youre a democrat, the lobby area can be a little unnerving since there are pictures of George W. and Governor Owens with the owner of the restaurant plastered all over the place. I guess on one of Dubyas visits to Colorado he had a hankering for some Chinese food and someone suggested this place and he really liked it. If the pictures in the lobby dont spoil your appetite, you wont be disappointed in the quality and taste of the food thereafter. My husband and I usually start with the potstickers and share their sesame chicken for our main course. The food is always amazing and the service is for the most part prompt and personal. Despite its outer appearance, the restaurant is actually quite cozy and nice.

Pros: Some of the best Chinese food I've had in Colorado

.

After reading all the great reviews, we thought maybe there could be a good chinese place in North Denver Metro. After all the President loves the place. I figureed he might have an educated taste for chinese food. Well we were certainly disappointed. Perhaps it was what we ordered, but I don't think so.

The way I would discribe the food was bland. The Hot and Sour soup was nothing special and the Won Ton soup looked pretty bad (I did not taste it), nothing green it, not a speck.

The fried dumplings were also only fried on one side and nothing special.

Tsia Chicken (can't remember tha exact name) was billed as being spicy it arrived wtih a hand full of red chile peppers, but the dish had no spice to them, the dish had only a hint of heat, not what we expected, on the plus side the vegies were cooked just right.

Our other dish was from the specialty page of the menu, asperagus with shimp chicken and beef. Again the vegies were cooked just right but the dish was just hohum.

Two bites into the meal and my 15 year old daughter said, well, this is nothing special. The stuff we make at home is much better

The quest for good chinese in the north continues. We will not go back. I guess I still disagree with everything that GW believes in.

Oh yes the price was very resonable though.

My husband and I are both transplants, and spent several years looking for great Chinese food. Well, we finally found it. Not only is the food fabulous, but the service, atmosphere, and attention to detail make it a real dining experience. As for the decor, we are both Democrats, however, we still enjoy eating here. Please look beyond this and take the restaurant for what it is. Support good food and a local restauranteur rather than political beliefs. We all need to lighten up just a little bit.

You get tons of food for luch so you will never leave hungry or satisfied. Plus the fact that the owner Dan is down to eaarth and will walk around and talk to his customers makes this place one of the best. In fact I am going today!

The giant almost lifelike pictures of both George Bushes and Governor Owens (that's three pictures, folks) made me a bit queasy as I waited for my table. The food was good (great Sesame Shrimp) but the service lacked. And then when you go to pay, you're greeted again by the images of George Bush Jr. and Sr. and Billy Owens. Yikes. I won't return.

My partner and I visited Heaven Dragon for the first time recently. We had heard the food was great and went there for my partner's birthday. Unfortunately, we were accosted by a lobby full of (mostly) large, glossy framed pictures of Republicans with the restaurant owner. Talk about an appetite-killer!
But, once we were passed this awful display and safely seated, we enjoyed good food. Alas, the service was terrible, though, so I don't think we'll make the long drive back.

We have been a regular at the Heaven Dragon for about 6 years and the place cannot be beat. Coming from the East Coast we've dined at many fine Chinese Restaurants, but this place out does them all. With their great food, friendly atmosphere, and the value, you cannot find a better place to dine (or take out) for Chinese food.

I hae been eating at Heaven Dragon since my son was 4 (he's now 19). He moved to LA last summer and came back for a visit in April. The first thing he said when he got off the plane was "Can we go to Heaven Dragon?" That's what we did! The best Sesame Chicken in the world and the Shrimp Foo Young is to die for! We drive 54 miles just to eat a $5.95 meal at lunch!

This Restaurant puts all others to shame. The food is excellent. The Staff are so friendly you feel like you are the richest person alive and they are waiting on your every word. The manager comes to find out if you are satisfied and the waitresses and waiters never forget a task. The atmosphere is wonderful and its one of the cleanest restaurants I have attended in the Thornton area.

Pros: conveniently located, open late, large menu

Cons: , lack of advertisement, need more locations

We have been going to heaven Dragon for the last 4 years, ever since we moved to Thornton, and have never been disappointed. I would assume the last reviewer went on a bad night (something we havn't experienced). I can't speak to the service much since we mostly do take out, but the few times we have eaten in the service was fine. It can pretty busy on Friday nights, which i imagine might affect things. As for the decor, I don't really care as long as the food is good, which it always is. We have tried a variety of things on their menu and I cannot recall anything we did not like. I definitely would not say it is bland. The kung pao chicken is quite spicy for instance. Overall, great food, good service, and don't get hung up about the decor.

Pros: food, service

Cons: crowded on Friday evenings

This Chinese rstrnt is the best. The Hunan Shrimp is out of this world and the servings are more than generous. If you eat in the evenings be prepared to take half home for the microwave.

Pros: great value, tons of food, great tasting food

I love their food. The sesame chicken is crisp - and you can tell that it's actually chicken, unlike a lot of places. The Mongolian beef is spicy and tender. And wooah, their hot mustard will make your head pop off - dee-licious. Service is good (and check out the girl at the register!).
