Some friends and I had the tasting dinner on Monday night and it was the best 9 courses of little tastes and flavors I have experienced in a long time. Lovely pork chop centers and mashed potatoes with Mission figs - what a great combo; lobster and salmon and scallops, ceviche in little cucumber cups, and simply neat combinations of flavors. It is a nice atmosphere and feels private, although there were lots of people there that night. We started the evening with lovely flavored margueritas and a mojito. If you like food that is interesting and presented like art work, this is the place to visit. Great waitstaff who didn't hover but were friendly and nearby. They soon will be open for brunch and I will be headed back for that. Try it for drinks and dinner!!!

My husband and I live in central Denver and frequent many of the Cherry Creek North restaurants, but Tula is by far our favorite. We're addicted to the Tradicional margarita and have had just about everything on the menu. My new favorite is the salmon (especially now that swimsuit season is around the corner) but my husband can't get enough of the tilapia. I would recommend Tula for both a quick bite before a movie or for a full dinner in one of the cozy booths.

Pros: Great bar and patio

Underwhelmed? Maybe, I just don't get it. I realize this location may be doomed for any restaurant.. The interior is nice. The female bartender this past Saturday night was unimpressive and unhelpful. It took her fifteen minutes to acknowledge my husband and I, sitting at a table in the bar area. She then walked over, placed the menu's and drink list on the table and said, "I'll be back." It took her another ten minutes to take our drink order. We then moved to the bar, thinking it would allow us to have faster service. My silver coin margarita was weak and had little taste. We then ordered our food and it literally took 3 minutes from the time she ordered it! I guess it was faster. I finished my margarita as dinner arrived. The bartender never came back to ask if I wanted another one until I finished with dinner and was ready for the check. The bartender told me to order the Tuna, in her words, "FABULOUS." In my words, "Tasteless and utterly boring." My husband had the tilapia and it too was boring and lacked flavor. The other thing I would like to mention is the previous good reviews about this restaurant. They are all within a three month period (7/06 - 9/06.) Either it was good when it opened or the staff wrote the reviews? Hmmmm. I also wonder how it made the latest issue of 5280 for places you must eat in Denver? Strange.

Pros: Nice interior, ample parking

Cons: the food, the service, the bartenders

We were underwhelmed by this restaurant. My husband and I were looking for a special restaurant to have a belated Valentine's Day celebration. I should add that my husband is a Mexican national and that we love upscale latin restaurants so this seemed like a good fit. The food was beautiful to look at but the taste was just average. The ceviche appetizer was completely bland. We found ourselves shaking salt and pepper on it every few minutes. We mined the ceviche for some jalapenos at least but sadly only unearthed a few seeded slices that amazingly were just as bland as the sauce and fish. My husband had a mojito and I had the sangria, both of which were fine but not better then anywhere else. I had the tequila lime shrimp entree. The entire five shrimp that came with the entree were of nice quality. The sauce on the shrimp was fine. The ample beans and rice that accompanied them were unexceptional. I've had better at places that cost about 1/8 of Tula. My husband had the chorizo-wrapped scallops. They were also good but not memorable. Perhaps the restaurant is just trying to cater to those with less-daring tastes but we expected bold, flavorful fare from a restaurant like this. There is absolutely nothing bold or fun about the food at Tula. It was nice enough although I would add that the restaurant was far from full but when we were shown to a table yet no one had managed to get around to cleaning it or to giving the crusty menu I was handed a swipe or two. It's fine inside although the repetitive ambiant music gave me a headache after awhile. I doubt we will return.

Pros: Interesting booths and light fixtures

Cons: Boring and overpriced food

Went for girls night last night and was no thrilled with the food at all. After ordering an Argentina bottle of wine which was very nice, we ordered the tuna nachos with very little favor..the sauce on the plate was good but overall was pretty bland. One girlfriend ordered the chicken broth soup which was very good, perfect temperature and a good portion. Another girlfriend ordered the house salad and the roasted corn soup. Salad was gritty and overdressed. The corn soup was luke warm and needed about 2 Tbs. of salt. I ordered the three tamales and was happy with the size of them but that's it. The chicken was bland without the sour cream and salsa which we added with each bite. The pork had no flavor at all!!! needless to say we didnt finish one of them. The staff was very attentive but we will probably not return. We were looking forward to trying a new place but yet again have been disapointed with each restaurant in that location.

Pros: Free parking right next door

This is an undiscovered treasure of Cherry Creek. You can almost always get a seat and the food is superb. Run by a lovely husband and wife team, this restuarant is possibly the best in Cherry Creek.

Significant Other and I were out on an appetizer and drink hop in Cherry Creek and stumbled in here around 8:30pm last Saturday night. What a wonderful suprise! We sat at the bar where Eric and Ryan provided the most attentive service. They introduced themselves and gave us a brief overview of the restaurant and owners knowing it was our first time in! They went out of their way to ensure we were having a good time and recommended original drinks and an amazing appetizer - the tamales three ways. This particular dish almost filled us up for the night as the portion was very large, but each tamale was so unique, one pork with mole sauce, one chicken with green sauce and one duck confit all flavored just perfectly!! We are excited to go back and try a full dinner there! We left there feeling like we just watched a "feel good" movie.....we actually experienced "feel good" service!

Pros: Service, Food, Drink

Cons: A bit overpriced, but it is Cherry Creek North

I've dined here often as I live a few blocks away, and have always been impressed with the food. My favorites are the tilapia (cooked perfectly, not overcooked as so many do), the veal abondigas (veal meatballs), and the caramel sauce and cookies. Now... I feel compelled, yes compelled, to write because last night Tula had a tasting dinner and I cannot stop thinking about my dinner :-). The pork tenderloin was cooked perfectly and served with some sort of black japanese mashed potatoes (seriously) and they were incredible. They were purple, almost looked like black bean and were somewhat sweet and wow. The chef was there with his wife and they were so welcoming. It is nice to someone so passionate about their food, about trying different things and also so kind to the patrons. I will definately be going back again, I was pretty blown away last night.

Pros: FOOD!, friendly owners, parking, ambience

.

I have eaten in the restaurant proper, as well as at the bar. The service was exceptional, with the staff going out of their way to please, from the moment you walk in the door to the time you leave.

The food is excellent & the ambience is superb. You can't beat the location (and there's plenty of parking!)

The place hasn't quite caught on yet, so you don't have to fight crowds. Try the infused vodka drinks - yummy!!

Highly recommended! This is my favorite restaurant in Denver.

Pros: Location. Friendly staff.

My family and I just love Tula. We first experienced it at the Cherry Creek food and wine festival. Since then we have gone to the restaurant several times and have had wonderful food and service each and every time. I was surprised to read that some one had bad service - all wait staff have been very friendly and responsive, which makes me think the problem wasn't with the staff. My 5 year old daughter also loves it. In fact, she wants to go there for her upcoming birthday dinner.

I highly recommend this delicious restaurant! The tuna nachos are to die for!!

My girls night out group tried Tula on a wednesday night. There was one other table seated. Our waiter didn't take our order for 20 minutes- then the food took forever to come out. the food was tasty- although I wouldn't call it 'Mexican'. Our dirty dishes sat on the table until we left. I will definitely not go back to this restaurant.

We were excited to try Tula for the first time. After shopping we wanted to grab a small bite to eat. Apparently that is looked down upon at this restaurant. Though it was a week night, and the restaurant was practically empty, our waitress was quite rude when we presented a coupon to use for our meal. She pointed us out to the rest of the wait staff and did not offer us the complimentary salsa and chips. We were horrified and disgusted by her behavior, and though we liked the food (and tipped her over 20% on what the bill would have been), we will never go back to this restaurant again!

After reading many reviews, my husband and I ventured out to Tula for a light meal. We decided to sit at the bar. The space is hip, but not too out there, and we felt very comfortable. The bartender, though busy, was very helpful, guiding us through the innovative drink list and unique menu. For drinks, we ordered something I think was called the "slide". There were four small margaritas, all made with different infused tequillas. They were served in a wooden holder...the whole concept was very cool. We just ordered a couple of appetizers, both of which were pretty good. The manager and staff were friendly, and we felt very well cared for. Overall, I would definately reccomend that you give it a try. We will definately be back for the full dining experience!

Made the much anticipated venture to Tula for Mexican (it's about time a Mexican Restaurant made it to CCN), only to leave with utter disatisfaction for the service. Our waitress was snippy and very rude - to the point the four of us all looked at each other with alarming disbelief several times. We also waited a good 15 minutes for our bill with finsished plates and empty water glasses in front of us. Not what you would expect for the price or the discerning tastes of CCN diners.

The food is decent but there's many other high-end Mexican spots that pair service and food together much better. We don't plan on returning.
