A repair of my blinkers and heat that cost $630 should last more than a year. Also the initial price jumped another $200 from the original estimate when we picked the car up.We found out the heat wasn't working again after the year warranty because we had a baby and we didn't drive the car for a while. Terry didn't offer to help us out at all. Very disappointing. I will definitely not recommend anyone there and unfortunately cannot say anything positive except that he was nice.

I wanted to take a second to give a plug for East Street. Terry is a treasure.

Here's the story: We were driving ('97 Buick Le Sabre) from Los Angeles to the In-law's ranch outside of Ward for vacation. The "check engine" light came on as we were pulling out of Black Hawk so we stopped in Nederland to see what we could find. The folks at the local supermarket recommended East Street so we headed on over. This was about 2:30 on a Saturday.

Terry came out, hooked up the scanner and diagnosed a problem with the mass air sensor. He took it out - 2 screws - gave it a squirt with some electronics cleaner, put it back and reset the computer. Voila - problem solved! Twenty bucks and twenty minutes, we were back on the road...no problem since!!!

So, our experience is that Terry and East Street are real gems...don't hesitate to take you car there...you'll be glad you did!

We had been taking our truck to a dealer but when we moved to Colorado we wanted a good independently owned garage that serviced American vehicles - hard to find. We decided to give East Street Garage a try and Terry did a wonderful job with the repair. I had asked him to look the truck over since the it is 12 years old; he made a list of items that he suggested that we do as we can. Wow - I really respected that he didn't try to scare into doing all the work at once. Now he's done many of our needed maintenance and repairs - very thorough and will explain why and how something needs to be done. I'm very happy with his work and ethics.

I took my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee to Terry for repair because the power steering wasn't working. He determined the problem was a leaking power steering hose, which was correct. I got a quote for the same repair from Pollard Jeep in Boulder, but decided to use East St. Garage because Terry agreed to charge the same amount as the dealer, Terry seemed like an honest mechanic and I wanted to support the local economy. Turned out to be a $1600 mistake, because without telling me, Terry ??repaired? the leaking power steering line instead of replaing it like we agreed on. He admitted it was because he was unable to figure out how to install the new hose he ordered. When I called to see when the repair would be complete, I was told I owed over $500 (more than Jeep to replace the hose!) because it took a lot of hours to repair instead of replace, the broken hose! I was really unhappy 1) Terry never called to tell me he wasn't doing the work he told me he was going to do; and 2) his solution to go ahead and repair a leaking hose for the same price as a replacement seemed like a terrible solution and a rip-off.

After expressing dissatisfaction and not wanting to pay for this work I never approved, Terry convinced me it was as "good as new" and said his work was guaranteed. I reluctantly agreed to pay a lower amount -- the amount the Jeep dealer 18 miles down the road would have charged to replace the hose -- only after getting Terry's word he would pay for any future related repairs if his "fix" didn't work. I specifically asked him if he would pay for future damage caused by the hose going again, and he agreed. Well now, the ??repaired? hose leaked again, all the power steering fluid leaked out, caused some other minor problems as a result, and it??s going to cost $1600 for it to be fixed this time at Pollard Jeep in Boulder. Jeep even said they would write a letter for me stating the current repairs needed are a direct result of the work done on the hose by Terry of East St. Garage.

After leaving three voice mails for Terry over the past 6 days, no return call. Pretty disappointing and a real unnecessary expense as a result of Terry??s poor business practices. He could have just been honest and called me the first time around to say ??Hey, sorry, this repair is just over my head? because I should have had the choice to take it for a replacement to the dealer at that point. Plus, Terry wouldn??t be responsible now for this expensive damage, and would not need to be screening his calls. -The Grahams

This place is what you hope you will find for auto repairs and a little coffee talk. Out of the way, yes, but it's worth working around a bit to try this place. Terry (owner) is not only an excellent mechanic, he is smart and curious...and knows he can't always know the right answer. So, he is not afraid to use expert resources to help, and he has many...manuals,catalogs,vendors, other shops...people like to work with Terry. He does what he says, charges fairly, fixes rare mistakes on a win-win basis, and takes pride in (not to mention makes his living on) having customers return. He also has good process, and can show you what he did, why, and archives all of his work orders and invoices on disc, so if you call with a question about last year's check up or valve job, he can tell you exactly what happened. I live about 50 miles away now, but still try to use him when I can.
