Stunningly incompetent. I have been a Bellco member since 1983 and have watch as what was a fairly effective CU has dissolved into one characterized by a staff with no knowledge and less integrity. You simply cannot rely on what these people tell you they are going to do. Tracking down responsible parties is impossible, and they have now done what they can to block complaints getting to what is an otherwise uninvolved board. It took a threat of a lawsuit to get them to correct errors they made in reporting to the IRS; errors they openly acknowledged they made and were responsible for fixing. They simple took no action, and dodged and evaded action until a call for my lawyer to their legal department force a VP to track down the staff who had lied repeatedly forced them to issue the corrected forms. Do not rely on these people.

Bellco Credit Union is by far the worst financial institution I have ever dealt with! First, when I took out an auto loan with them almost 2 1/2 years ago they charged me $500 for taking too long to change over my insurance information to meet their requirements (they received it two days late, so two days somehow=$500?!?). I've also been putting extra money towards to principle, and man do they make it tough to do that! They don't accept payment over the phone nor can you make a payment online, only in person, and only in the form of a check (seriously, who uses checks anymore, it's friggin 2010!!). So, I've been sending out checks every Friday to them to go towards the principle.

I used to be a WaMu customer, but WaMu was bought out by Chase... as such, my routing number changed (even though they both still work). So, I figured I would be proactive and change my routing number for my direct deposit with Bellco to reflect my new Chase routing number... well, Bellco doesn't allow you to change direct deposit info online or over the phone, only in person, kind of a pain since my work hours are nearly identical to their hours, but whatever. So, I get down there on a Saturday, and change my information with them... today, instead of my car payment being taken out, they charged my TWICE! They charged one car payment to my old routing number, and one to my new routing number! I get to my local branch at 8am to talk to someone (which is their listed opening time) and the lobby was LOCKED, I saw no one inside. So I called their customer service department (which also opens at 8am), and was told "sorry, looks like we forgot to cancel your old direct deposit info", and "we can't cancel the second payment from coming out". WTF?!? Are you kidding me?

Their only solution was that I can wait until it shows cleared on my checking account, print out my statement and fax it to them, and they "should" be able to try to credit my bank account. I'm glad I at least have the funds in my account to cover it or else I could have had over draft charges because they are incompetent.

Seriously, they are THE most inept financial institution I have ever worked with... I've had several auto loans and checking accounts through multiple banks over the course of the last 8 years and NEVER had an issue. Since I've worked with Bellco, I've had several.... I will NEVER work with another local Credit Union again, nor will I EVER recommend this shotty excuse for a financial institution called Bellco to ANYONE I know.

My family received it's house loan from Bellco and it was a very simple process. Every member in my family has an account at Bellco and we enjoy their monthly newsletters. It is good to know you can count on a bank during this hard economic crisis.
