Great decor and atmosphere. Went here for lunch with some colleagues. Customer service was acceptable. Waiter was attentive and offered eating suggestions, only that he mumbled. Order grilled skirt steak tacos. Good. Will try fajitas and a dessert next time.

Beautiful, upscale Mexican. The freshly-made guacamole cannot be beat. I've enjoyed every entree and every margarita

The location is great in Northfield. Parking is never a problem. The food is excellent. I like the guacomole. The make it fresh at your table and it is really good.

Blown away by La Sandia, an unexpected surprise. Homemade chips and salsa are delicious and addicting. Presentation of food is gorgeous, which to my foodie boyfriend and I is always a pleasure. Have been twice now and gotten excellent service. Margaritas and mojitos are both very tasty. I think of it as somewhere you might go when you want to treat yourself a bit, because of the price.

Pros: Creativity, Presentation, Taste, Quality, Service

Cons: Expensive

La Sandia has good food and is very reasonable if you get a certificate from restaurant dot com. Without a certificate its a little too expensive, but there is no doubt that the food is good.

I always order the fish tacos when I dine here so I can only comment on that entree but my fellow diners seemed pleased with their choices as well. You can't go wrong with the fish tacos though--a winner, for sure. This Mexican restaurant is located in Northfield, so is a little out of the way for us but the parking is free and easy to find and the outdoor dining is fun on a warm week-end afternoon.

We visited La Sandia on a whim while looking at the new Northfield shopping center. What a wonderful surprise! The food is fantastic, very authentic with Mexican cheeses used, homemade tortillas, delicious salsa and guacamole. We took our kiddos, they dined on quesadillas and "tacquitos" which were soft corn tortillas filled with seasoned chicken and cheese. We did not try the margaritas or sangria but saw them in passing and wished we had! Go check out Northfield and eat at La Sandie, you will enjoy a beautiful restaurant and patio!

I been there 3 times, the mole is wonderful, the steak terribl prepared, shrimp entree totally overpriced (18 bucks) for 4 tiny shrimp. They also tried to serve us a regular pork loin that was on the menu as a pork "tenderloin" hoping we would not notice. It was prepared well, but it was a cheap cut of meat priced as the more expensive cut......Margaritas tasty but overpriced as well. They dont like it when you complain, either....managment was less than friendly when confronted with these issues! I would reallt give this place 2 1/2 stars!

I was told to go to La Sandia by a co-worker who raved about it. Food was not that bad I ordered tacos Al pastor
and my lady friend ordered the Carne asada tacos, i enjoyed the tacos as they had a hint of pineapple in them just the way i like it, but for 11.50 for three tacos i think I could find better tacos on Federal Blvd. My lady friend was not to impressed with the carne asada tacos just bland she said. The Mojito Sandia was to die for Mojito with a a spalsh of watermelon, but besides that I think I will skip Chef Richard Sandoval Restaurant except for the Tequila tasting which they have at the end of the month. The service was mediocre at best are waiter was merely bored serving us. Nice looking decor besides the fact that you couldn't tell it was a Mexican restaurant including the music which was Puerto Rican, Cuban but no authenic Mexican music either way La Sandia is pretty much a restaurant you only wanna try once or if you wanna try something different.

Pros: parking, Drinks that are delicious

Cons: A bit pricy for Mexican,

We've been to La Sandia in Stapleton Northfield a few times. I've always seen something else different on the menu to order, and I've never been disapointed. My only complaint is that the tables are a little small.

Pros: the variety and creativity of the menu, value

Cons: the suburban location? ...no cons really

I'm a big fan of all of Richard Sandoval's restaurants and was surprised to hear that he is the Chef at La Sandia. The food definitely lives up to his reputation for great, creative Mexican - but at La Sandia its also served at an incredible price. The space is beautiful with lots of color and very creative design - I will definitely consider the location for fun office events or parties - really great value!!!

My husband and I headed for a late lunch here. We were in the mood for chips and salsa! The servers were less than excited that we were there. I went with the Mexican Cob salad and hubby did the fish tacos. The salsa was pretty good ? not much kick and not much in the bowl. I also decided to have the made at the table guacamole. Not as good as on the border. And the server was less than excited to make it for us. The margarita was as small as the other reviewers mentioned and not very tasty. The menu had lots of yummy options so we might go back another time, but perhaps eat at the bar.

Pros: Chips were yummy

Cons: service was average, expensive

The food was bland for being Mexican so I was disappointed. The staff was rude and seemed disappointed that my friend and I didn't order enough food and drinks to equate to a larger tip. We were asked to leave immediately after finishing our meals and hadn't even finished our overpriced, small margaritas because we were told another party was waiting for our table. This restaurant is very "churn & burn" style trying to make people eat fast and leave to increase table turnover. Since they are rude and the food and drinks aren't worth the prices, my friend and I will never go back.

We got a coupon in the mail so we thought we would try out La Sandia. We missed happy hour (I think it ended at 6) but we got seated right away and had pretty good service. My husband and I both had the house margarita, which were small and not worth it for how expensive they were. I think next time I would try a different drink or just have water. However, the chips and salsa were different (good different) and our food was really delicious. Try the adobo pork tacos. We'll go back but if we miss happy hour, we probably won't be drinking.

My fiance & I chose this spot for dinner because of the allure of the outside eating area. It's a great place to people watch, the margaritas are phenomenal & if you order guacamole for an appetizer, it?s quite fun as they bring you the ingredients & you make your own. Other than that, the food was middle-of-the road & somewhat bland, though I?ve had worse; the ceviche was disappointing ? no taste at all. I?d highly recommend it for a Happy Hour stop ? margaritas & appetizers ? you can?t go wrong!

The atmosphere is very modern mexican. The food is overpriced. I paid 16.00 for a chicken dish that was just not THAT great. The flavor wasn't anything suprising or exciting. I woulld, however, recommend the margaritas. They were 7.00 each but strong and tasty. They also have tequila tastings too.
I recommend this place if you just want to satisfy a margarita craving, with some decent mexican food with a great atmosphere. But I think I'll keep going to Lime in the city for the best chips and salsa.

Pros: great margaritas and tequila, atmosphere and service excellent

Cons: food is nothing outstanding, overpriced

Ambience, decor and service were nice, however the food was just ok, as well as over-priced. Guacamole and chips were very tasty, however the chicken tacos that I ordered did not even compare to the same menu item at Benny's, and the chicken had a very strange taste to it. You can get similar Mexican at any joint in town for half the price, but if you are looking for an up-scale atmosphere and don't mind so-so food, it's a fine restaurant. I would choose Lola or Tamayo over La Sandia if you want unique, upscale Mexican food.

We eat Mexican food out a LOT and La Sandia's is over-priced for the amount provided and quality.
My fiance is a true Queso connoisseur and judges a joint by it... we were not impressed by La Sandia's. The decor is nice, especially the stoneware but with so many better and especially more AFFORDABLE Mexican restaurants in the Denver area that we enjoy more, like Senor Rita's on Colfax, we won't be heading back to La Sandia's in Stapleton anytime soon. The menu was poorly written and inadequate especially for those with allergies. Simply, too expensive for the type & quality of food!

New Review: We have been back to La Sandia a few times since our first time there and it seems that they are using cheaper ingredients now but still charging high prices. I would say that they need to drop the prices or raise the quality of the food to make it a good value. The margs are great but the food is overpriced for what you get.

Old review: La Sandia has a wide variety of items from standard guacamole to more unique items like chayote. The food is fresh and flavorful while the margaritas and tequila are amazing. The atmosphere is modern yet comfortable and the service has been fantastic every time I have been there. There is plenty of seating and this is one of Denver's new hidden treasures!
