First of all, Kathe and Lynn, let me say THANK YOU THANK YOU!
I am Beverly, a male to female transsexual. I transitioned at the age of 55. I went full time as my self, Beverly, after a few years of hormone replacement therapy, and hiding the results of it at work.
The time finally came when 'Mike' had to come out at work as who she really was, Bev. That is when it really hit me, I would be Beverly for the rest of my life, and I wasn't really totally ready!
The hardest part of transitioning and socializing yourself as female besides being one, is developing a passable female voice. I'm in sales, so it was crucial that I succeed.
My natural voice was a soft baritone, and I found it virtually impossible to speak with a truly feminine voice. I pulled it off, but people had to see me in person, see how I looked, see my actions, inflections. Yes, I was female, but with a bad female voice. I dreaded picking up the 'sir phone'. For those of you who are mtf, you know what I mean.
I bought your Cd's the first 2, and devoured them. I played them and practiced with them on my drive to and from work, and any time I could at home. I used the lessons without the Cd's, and used my new voice, even though in my head, it sounded funny. Well, that's the difference....the voice you hear when you speak is totally different from what the rest of the world hears, so I kept the faith, and used your techniques.
A year later: I don't ever think much about my voice....it's just there, and it sounds like most other womens voices sound.
I haven't gotten the 3rd CD, but I might. Bev is doing fine now, goes anywhere without ever thinking of her voice, and is usually the first at work to pick up the 'ma'am phone'
I just can't thank you enough.
