My experience at the Indianapolis zoo was very informational. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. I have been to the zoo many times, for field trips, family trips, as well as with friends. It is great for all ages. Although there is a fee to enter the zoo, it is well worth it. I would recommend sitting in the front of the the dolphin show if you don't mind getting a little wet.

The Indianapolis Zoo has been a favorite place of mine for as long as I can remember. They have recently been doing some changes such as the dolphin pavilion and show. I went during the summer and they were still working on getting the show down and what the audience saw was a work in progress. They were some interesting additions to the pavilion but I didn't think the show was that great, maybe because it wasn't a finished product but for me I don't need anything that fancy. What they did in the past worked fine for me. They should have done something with the seating or atleast let less people in to the shows because we were so crowded I practically had people sitting on top of me and the people behind me had their knees in my back. They were also tons of screaming children who were really way too young to enjoy this type of thing.
One thing everyone needs to check out is Christmas at the Zoo. This is really fun. There are lights everywhere and its really beatiful and makes the train ride more fun. Some of the exhibits are closed later at night but it is still pretty neat because there are less people there. When I went i was in the aquarium area and the snake area with just myself and the person I went with. Usually there are tons of people and noisy children all around.
The train is fun to ride, the bathrooms are relatively clean and its a great experience to do with your family or with friends. I make sure I go atleast twice a year.

We love the Indianapolis Zoo. It is always a fun trip with the family. The new dolphin exhibit is awesome. They also rent the dolphin pavilion for receptions, parties, etc. It is great to see the dolphins swim by during dinner. It has recently added a roller coaster as well. The playgrounds are great for the kids and the water playground is very popular during the summer. Highly recommended!

The seahorses and penguins were a hit with my friend. I loved the polar bear. I was not too impressed with the dolphin exhibit... I found it kind of scary, and wondered what would happen if the tank failed or sprung a leak.

The food was expensive, but was very good. The gift shop's prices were very fair.

Indy Zoo is a nice manageble size to take the family too. It is not a huge zoo and does not have large primates or panda or anything like that but the elephants and rhinos are incredible and the zoo is simply nicely done.

The Indianapolis Zoo is always a fun place to go. They usually have something new and exciting to look at. It's nice that they let you bring your own food and drinks if you want. Theirs are a little pricey. The dolphin exhibit is great fun and of course the polar bears. I do wish that they had more monkeys and apes. It's easily walkable for all ages and they have some rides too.

It's not the absolute best zoo that I've been at, but it's local and rather fun. The inhabitants are diverse, it's coupled with WhiteWater gardens (so you can get admission to both at the same time), and it's not too overcrowded or big. I took my niece there, and she had fun, although she is very particular about what animals she likes. I prefer it in winter, when all the large animals are still out, but there's no crowds whatsoever, and you can observe them at your leisure :)

I absolutely love the zoo and especially the dolphins. I think that my son only wants to ever go to just see the dolphins he doesnt care much what else is in the zoo. They usually have some babies there to and my youngest thinks that is so cool since he is a baby to. THere are two things that I dont like about the zoo. One is the parking because the lot is usually full and you cant park on it unless you are there an hour before they open the other thing is the price i think that it is really high.

While most zoos focus on letting you see the animals, this zoo focuses on learning ABOUT the animals. There are new animals being born to the zoo each year. There seems to be new exhibits at the zoo each year as well. The most recent was the Dolphin Pavillion. While this exhibit was down for almost a year, the results were astounding.

The seahorse exhibit is mezmerizing, and I expect a lot from the Meercats exhibit being introduced in 2006.

I make it a point to get a membership each year. The children never tire of going.

And if you want them to play off some energy before you leave, and it's hot out, bring some towels, as there is a small water park.

I love going to the Indianapolis Zoo. The zoo is surprisingly close to downtown Indianapolis, but once inside you can't tell the city is even there. They have a great selection of animals (I'm partial to the Polar Bears myself). I went once in February, and although a little chilly, I loved being one of the few in the zoo. The animals were actually more active then usual. So, find an uncommon time to go, you'll get the most out of it. They also have a greenhouse next door, so if you more into plants, you can get that too.

Your best bet for the Indpls. Zoo is to get the family membership.

The new dolphin pavalion is bringing conflicting reviews. The dolphins are still getting used to their new surroundings and it could take a year for this to happen.

The new dolphin show is a little dark and there aren't as many shows through out the day.

The other animal exhibits are still fun to visit.

Rollercoaster ride & lots of food available.
They also have a train.

Don't miss the polar bear, he always likes to put on a show for the visitors.

I love the Indianapolis Zoo. My kids and I spend alot of time there. My only complaint is the new dolphin show. Unless you go really early which is next to impossible with a toddler and an infant, you have to lug your kids and belongings to the top of the bleachers which is a scary proposition when you are trying to carry your infant and hold your toddlers hand back down!

The Indianapolis zoo is a wonderful place to bring the family, if you can afford it! This zoo has many great attractions and wonderful animal exhibits. My only concern with the zoo is it is quite costly, and may not be worth the amount of money spent to park and get in!

PROS: wonderful way to spend the day
CONS: expensive

This is a good zoo - not great but worth the trip. It has a new dolphin viewing where you can view the dolphins under water and a great dolphin show. It has a giraffe feeding and elephant shows, petting zoo and pretty much everything that a good zoo has.

PROS: dolphin exhibit, giraffe feeding, elephant show, petting zoo
CONS: parking is $5.00. Also the train is stupid

Considering all the great free zoos in the midwest, I was shocked to learn that it would be more than thirty dollars to take my family of three. The zoo is small, can be managed in a few hours, and not worth that kind of money. Plus, they charge extra for carousel, train and other special activities, membership or no.

But if you can spring for the membership (~$90), and plan to go every few weeks or so, it is worth it. Lots of play areas for the kids, incredible dolphin pavillion opening this summer, and it's fun to just go for a few hours and you don' t feel you've wasted your money if your kids poop out before you do.

Considering all there is to do in Indianapolis that is free or nearly free, going to the zoo is way down on our list. The natural settings are well done, the facility is very clean and it's always fun to take a toddler to the zoo. But $30+ for a family of 3 is an excessive amount to pay for admission, especially considering that zoos like Cincinnati's is roughly the same admission cost, but has a lot more to offer. By walking slowly and trying to stretch our visit, we are still leaving the Indy Zoo in under 3 hours (and that included time to eat a meal and play on a playground that can be found for free in any park). So basically it's a nice facility, but not worth the admission in my opinion.

The always-changing Indianapolis Zoo is a fun place to enjoy with friends and family. Conveniently located on Washington Street in Indianapolis, it is large enough to be interesting, but small enough to be seen in a single day. Food courts are available on the grounds.

Indy Zoo is clean, fun, family friendly, and still enjoyable for adults and teens. I've been to countless other zoos, and not only does Indy's have the animals, attractions, and events, but it is also spacious, clean, and well-priced. The people are so friendly, and it's definitely not to be missed, for natives or visitors.

For the amount of money I have to pay to park and get into the zoo, I think this place is a dump. I could go to St. Louis for free and see a better place!
