We really only do limited alterations, and NO dressmaking at all. We do a lot of heavy duty hemming and patching, as well as all sorts of Custom Sewing.

As the Owner/Operator of this business, now "Retired" but still available to design, do Prototype sewing, Custom Sewing N Repairs on an "Appointment Only" basis, or as found available by calling our home office (765)747-1934 or my Cell (765) 212-6987,

I greatly appreciate all the great reviews over the years, and have made great strides in improving even more.

I have taken project after project here, everything from rifle slings to tow straps, tie downs to tents, and had many different types of holsters, and hand gun fanny packs/pouches made here over the years.

Randall has made hunting bags for me, repaired suspenders, and tree stand carry shoulder straps for me, and custom made dog leads. Repaired or replaced my wifes purse straps and zippers, our winter parkas zippers and sleeping bags zippers.

We have had Randall make cell phone holders, I-Pad belt pouches, camera pouches, and fixed and folding knife sheaths, and tool pouches, and do jeans hemming for us; and he is always fair, reasonable, and fast, with most things done while we watch, or run an errand and come back to pick them up.

He is now retired and prefers to work afternoons, is on a cash and carry basis only (No checks or card of any type) and does give receipts, Good parking, well situated to be found, No . . . Bathroom, and not handicap equipped for access.

Always best to call ahead and know for sure he will be available to do sewing projects. 765-747-1934 (H) or 765-760-7697 (ATT-C), or you can drop it off to his wife Joyce if she is available.

Sow N Sews is about the best I have ever experienced. I am sorry they are experiencing such hard times being as good as they are; it is surprising so many more people have not discovered this great little shop.

I too could not reach them by phone but stopped in to have some tie down strap done and sure enough they are still there sowing and sewing as usual.

They have made great progress in the buildings and ground improvements they started a couple months ago; not finished yet but very close and looking really good.

they are really bringing their shop into an energy efficient state and making it a better place to come to shop and have sewing and fabrication services done. And they are fast, very fast and very professional and competitive in their finished product and cost.

Still no public bathroom yet (yet to be finished) and now no phone or card processing. So it is cash & Carry but worth the extra effort and any inconvenience it may cause.

Even though they are co-located this is a distinct shop and is very well mated to the other side being the Army Navy Surplus. In one you can get field trousers and in this one have them hemmed for free while you watch right on the spot.

They make, modify or repair everything from holsters to bible covers, I was in there when a policeman came in and wanted his swat holster fixed, his armor carrier repaired and some trousers hemmed. They did it right on the spot in less then 30 minuets. They officer was amazed but not surprised and said something to the effect, that this is why I come here.

I can recommend them and I am getting my piece and coming back to get a "three in one" holster made and bring a bag back my wife has been saying needs repair.

Randall is the man, and Sow N Sews is the place for any serious heavy-duty sewing to be done for a variety of reasons but the best reason I can think of is that Randall know what to do, to get the best deal for the time, money and effort

This is one of those shops that is Co-Located with another shop but is a separate operation. Sow N Sews is a play on words; where they sow (Like a farmer sows seed) the word of God, while they do sewing projects.

In this case, the guy does all sorts of sewing projects that your average dry cleaner or typical alteration shop would not like to undertake to try to do. The kind of sewing that can turn a sewing machine into a expensive paper weight if it isn't done just right.

These folks have sewn everything from Handgun Holsters (ankle, hip, shoulder, in the pant, and drop leg) for me, to my fire gear. They even have the PBI Kevlar thread and can sew on the suede cuffs for the trousers and coat; as well as shorten or lengthen suspenders and reset snaps, fasteners and put on post buttons.

In Muncie or around the surrounding areas, this is by far the best place I have been able to find to come get my heavy duty sewing done. And they made a really nice Field Camo bible cover for a friend of ours to take over to Iraq with him to help keep his bible in better shape while in the combat area.

I have had some really heavy duty industrial quality pager and Cell Phone cases made there that are much better then anything I can find in hardware or Big Box stores.

I have come to start taking my jeans when I buy them to him for hemming too. I have trouble finding my length and now I can find what I find and just take him and he usually does them while am standing there. Quick, really fair, and does a great job.

Pros: Really Ingenious, Fast, Fair, Makes it look easy, Equipped,

Cons: Cash & Carry at this time, Hard to see how to get into?

I don't know if it is just me or if I just didn't have a really great expectation at first, but as I have been finding need for sewing, I have begun taking my stuff to Chappy J at the Sow N Sews place inside the Army Navy Surplus and it seems to me I have not found anything he couldn’t do for me so far.

He has saved me a bundle not having to replace things for busted buckles, straps that came loose, or just making something for me from scratch.

I can watch it being made or go down the street and have some breakfast, lunch or supper. So yes, I like it well enough and am still going back for more. If you have zippers in your life going bad? This is the place to take them for repair or replacement.

Pros: Two Thumbs Up!

This is an old time surplus place that has this "sewing shop" inside it. This is not just the kind of alterations shop you might find at the cleaners mind you; it is a custom made to order and repair shop for the heavy duty things in our lives.

They made me a shoulder holster, that converted to an ankle holster and back, with a double mag pouch so I could carry; one in, and two backup. They also repaired my zipper on a tent, and replaced one in my leather coat.

I have some old but still usable insulated bibs and the zipper went bad and needed replacing....no problem. The same bibs had need of replacing a metal studded button...no problem. The same bibs had some holes and torn away pocket....no problem the guy fixed them all as I was asking questions about what else they may sew.

Did a Great job, Fast, and more then Competitive, this is the place other shops need to compare to; my brother and I both love this place as one of our new best places to come just to get our sewing or for some of our serious surplus needs to be filed.

Highly recommend this place to anyone needing sewing and Army Surplus.

Pros: Over forty years of expertise is a really big help, and they have the tools to do it quick

Cons: No bathroom, hard to pull in and out due to overhead RR Trestle.

This is one of those shops one feels good about recommending. Not only is it inside one of my other favorite shops (Army Navy Surplus) but it is so capable that It is a bit hard to rate all the things they could do VS. what I have had done to date.

Simply when I have any Heavy Duty sewing needs; this is the shop I take it to. They have done snap straps for my four wheeler, safety harness for my tree stand, pull tube repair on the outer shell, sail cover repair, several Rifle and Shotgun Slings, two shoulder holsters and a leg drop one too. Heck one is a three way holster that goes from a hip holster, to a shoulder holster, to an inside the pants holster; and all I have to do is change out the rigging in two easy moves.

I have had my coveralls and bib overalls snaps replaced, Metal Prong Buttons replaced, and Leg Zippers overhauled. Then I had a pup who chewed trough a zipper and edge on my rifle case, and had them replace it. They have made me a complete duty belt for security work, and and an EMT Pouch for my volunteer service. They even made me a badge wallet, and neck / belt clip to weal a badge on. The deer stand seat cover went bad after several years and I had them recover it for me.

I tore some serious holes in the seat and knee of my hunting overalls and they recovered them in Cordura Nylon that is both water-proof coated and water-repellent treated on the outside and that gave me extra durable areas that would stand up to the demands of my use.

I took my children's book bag in to have the should straps and zippers repaired and that saved me a bundle on replacing them. My wife takes my patches in to have them sewn on our Leather vests, and she had her Chaps hemmed and waist taken in, while I had to had mine taken out.

Thee is just so much more; and I have seen them working on horse blankets, harness, and belting for a lot of folks from a lot of trades...especially carpenters.

The most telling is that I and mine keep going back.
