I purchased a refrigerator and a range at the Castleton store. Both pieces were from the clearance area in the back of the store. Make sure you check the area out. The frig had a small scratch so I just put a magnet on it. The range was an old model marked down. They saved me 100s of dollars.
Cyndy was really helpful working with my budget. They have a great play area, it kept my kids busy while I shopped. The store has LOTS of appliances and I would definitely recommend buying from them. Ive already told a couple friends they need to stop in and check them out.
And the delivery guys were friendly and very courteous. Actually gave me a couple tips on the care of my frig.

We did business with the Clark Appliance store in Castleton on 82nd street this past summer. The experience we had with the sales staff, specifically Amanda, was top notch. We were very pleased with that end of the transaction and felt good at that point about deciding to spend what we considered to be a fair amount of money (over $10,000) with a local appliance dealer. The breakdown in the transaction began when it came time for appliance installation. We worked with a local kitchen renovation company for a total remodel. The contractor for this company was the go between for us on arranging for delivery and installation. We prepaid all installation charges for all appliances (other than the hood insert) when we made our appliance purchase. Our contractor was responsible for making sure all the cabinets and wiring were ready for appropriate appliance installation. After a two week delay in receiving the appliances, a delivery date as set and an installation window was given between 12:00 and 3:00. The entire afternoon was spent at home that Friday awaiting the Clark delivery people. Finally, much later at 6:30 pm on that Friday night a delivery crew arrives and all mayhem ensues in our kitchen. We have installers showing up from all over the place, in each others way, trying to rush the installation job since it is so late on a Friday evening. At one point, as the double ovens (that we paid for them to install) were being brought in, we were told the cabinet opening wasn't large enough and we would have to wait until we could get the cabinet maker back out to retrofit the cabinet (of course...during regular business hours...not at this point 8:00 pm on a Friday night) before they would install the ovens. During the rush, we later learned that the gas range top was installed incorrectly that evening. The ignitor switch would continuously fire on all burners even after the flame had been lit. We made numerous calls back to Clark about this with absolutely no satisfaction to the problem. Eventually, our electrician that we were paying to work in the kitchen discovered that the range had been installed incorrectly and the wires were installed backwards. Thankfully he was able to fix the problem, even though we had paid Clark appliance installers to not only do the job, but do the job correctly. In addition to these problems that occurred installation night, the hood insert was installed incorrectly and was loose and not screwed into the frame securely. After my kitchen contractor was able to get back out to our house on the following Monday, a minor adjustment was made to the oven cabinet opening and we were ready for the double oven to be installed that we had paid in advance to be installed by Clark appliance. However, we could not get Clark to come back out that day. It was going to be over a week before they would come back to put in the oven. My contractor and his assistant ended up installing the oven themselves. We showed our contractor at that time the loose range hood insert and he said that Clark would need to come back out and reinstall as it was not installed correctly the first time. The screws used were too short and the insert was barely held into the frame. Over a week later, we finally get Clark back out to work on the hood insert. I wait once again, all day at home, for an appointment time that is not met. Once the installer arrives lateafter 5:00 pm..he comes in my kitchen and says that he cannot work on the hood insert as he is not a custom installer. He only installs in apartments and was up the road in Anderson so they sent him down to my house on the north side. I now have to wait longer as he calls the installation manager to find out what should be done. 2 hours later at 7:00, the installation manager arrives and tells me the problem is with the cabinet opening and not the hood. Of course, at this point, we are once again after what would be considered normal business hours so I cannot get anyone with the kitchen contractor to confirm whether or not this is the case. The installation manager leaves my home with the insert barely attached; the wood frame around it cracked, and black grubby handprints all over the brand new white cabinetry.

Clark Appliance is the only dealer/ servicer of major appliances in the city of Indianapolis. There is good reason for this, (service most typically is not profitable and the servicing company is held accountable for taking care of the manufacturers flaws). When purchasing appliances from any other retailer in Indianapolis, that is simply all that you are doing...there is absolutely no customer service after the sale at all. If you have any product related issues, they will give you a phone number to either call the manufacturer or another local service company. Service is not an easy business, although Clarks has not subbed out to other companies for their service needs, they do their own servicing. Keep in mind that the company that sells the product to you does not actually make them, and when it comes to service they are required to get authorization from the manufacturer for servicing needs. Clarks is also also a family owned business!

I purchased a complete stainless steel DACOR kitchen appliance package from Clark Appliance in Feb 2007. Clark supplied and installed 6 seperate pieces of equipment. Since then I have had to have 2 service calls on a $7000 refridgerator to fix the same problem (factory recall?) paying about $300 out of pocket (what warranty?). Now my $1000 DACOR dishwasher is not working. When I called to schedual a service call I was told it would be 3 days. This is my first expierence w/ high end appliances and scheduling appliance service calls for them and I continue to be greatly disappointed. CLARK Appliance said thier service dept can be 2 weeks out in scheduling. Here's an idea; how about hiring more service technitians. Taking the high maintanace of DACOR appliances and the premium prices they command into consideration it appears that CLARK Appliance is only attentive and concerned at the point of sale w/ no regard to servicing what they sell in an expeditious mannor. I would not recommend CLARK Appliance service dept or the DACOR brand based upon my expierence.

Recently, the day my mother passed away, our "still under warranty" ice-maker stopped making ice. Called the service dept. and they could NOT accommodate our special request for quick service. Had to go through the entire funeral (whole family home) without ice. When they finally came out they did a "quick fix" which lasted about one day. Called back and they could not guarantee a morning or afternoon appointment.--said I had to be available ALL day. They cannot give you a "window" of time until the morning of the repair. WHO DOES THIS? I deal with a lot of servicemen who ALWAYS can give me a window of time. My schedule does not allow for me to be at home the entire day! Additionally, the phone person kept calling me to set up apppointments., even though she had already called the day before and in one case, the hour before. Did not have any cognition that she had already called me. I will go to great lengths to avoid buying products from Clark's--even though I have purchased several appliances from them through the years.

I purchased a Fisher-Paykel French Door Counter Depth fridge from them in April of 2008 and had a reoccurring service issue relating to the in-door-water dispenser. Their service technician was relentless and creative in his determination to resolve the problem for me and was willing to recommend replacing the unit if he could not get it to operate reliably.

In the end, I am very happy with the service I received from Clarks.

Would give zero stars if I could. Their selection is very good, but they do not believe in customer service. We bought all our appliances for our house from them. They installed the range vent hood and never checked to see if it functioned properly. We found that neither the fan or the lights worked. It has been 4 months and it is not fixed. Not only can they not fix it, they refuse to replace it. The lack of customer service on this issue has soured us on this store and we are committed to telling everyone we can to go elsewhere for you appliances.

Even though my family has always bought locally (in West Lafayette) for basic appliances, we upgraded to shopping at Clark's for a fancy new dishwasher. Prices are reasonable and you really can get the best of the best: the newest models from the best brands.
