We tried Alto on a recommendation from a friend and were very impressed. We were feeling unadventurous that night had the chicken parmesan and penne with vodka sauce which were both out of this world. The penne was probably more like baked ziti than traditional preparations but the flavors were subtle and well balanced. We also tried a peach amaretto gelato which was very good as well. In truth the only part of the meal that wasn't excellent was the polenta appetizer which was merely good. Service was prompt and friendly. Cocktails were properly mixed unlike many places in state college. For the area the prices were a little high but in reality it was an excellent deal. Each entree was ~$17 and provided left-overs for the next day. One tip, if you're going to the restaurant call ahead and ask for a window table. The restaurant is in a lovingly restored victorian and offers seating in what was presumably an outdoor porch at one time which offers some very charming views of downtown Lemont (Its quaint). Also, bring a sweater as it was a bit cool when we went.
