Ratings_icons New patient--very poor experience

NeM

I just had a very negative experience with Dr. Jennifer Parish. New patient, no intro or even eye contact. She was scribbling a prescription before even giving me the diagnosis, and when I asked her (very politely) if she would repeat the diagnosis slowly and write it down, explain to me what she was prescribing and why she was prescribing it, what caused my problem and if there were any lifestyle changes I could make, she was brusque to the point of rudeness. I had brought along my sunscreen, makeup, and facial cleanser and my other medication and when I asked her if any of these were contributing to the problem she didn't even look, just said "just see how the medicine works and then we'll see." I was in there a total of five minutes, so it wasn't as though I was asking for a long, drawn-out explanation--I just wanted some basic information about potential causes or triggers for flare-ups, which she seemed too rushed to provide. When I got home and looked up the condition on the Mayo clinic pages I discovered that they recommend several otc remedies and tea tree oil BEFORE trying a prescription--and she did not mention any of these options, though I'd specifically asked if I could try an OTC anti-fungal before the prescription.

Pros: did not wait long

Cons: unwilling to explain diagnosis or medication, or answer ?s

Ratings_icons Bad Experience

Jennifer's father was the man who saw me. I waited 1 hour, he saw me for 5 minutes and didn't know how to listen to what I was saying. The antibiotics were making my stomach ache, he said that's not possible. The acne med's were making it worse, he said, "Well, you're not black or white, you're brown, so that's what it's suppose to do initially." What does that have anything to do with anything? He didn't answer. He was in a rush, he said come back in 2 weeks, I said, "Yea, because you want my co-pay and not do anything." 1 week later, I went to my regular physican, he prescribed a great acne medication, and my face is doing great. I cancelled all further appointments with the Parrish family.

Cons: Jennifer's Father

Ratings_icons What an awful experience!

I visited Dr Lawerence Parish. I was one of the first appointments of the day and the waiting room was empty. I was quickly taken back to an exam room, but then I waited for over half an hour for Dr Parish to come in. When he finally came in, he did not introduce himself, shake my hand, or even confirm that I was the correct patient.

As soon as I started talking, the phone rang. Dr Parish answered the call, so I had to sit and listen for 10 minutes while he debated which dermatology textbook is best and make dinner plans for his family with a friend. When he finally got off the phone he didn't even apologize!

He spent less than 5 minutes listening to my history and complaints, and then told me that I had a problem that I know was incorrect (I'm a nurse). I refuted his answer, and he said "well you can call it an apple but I'll call it an orange." Then he gave me a prescription for a very expensive body was that didn't resolve my condition.

I would never recommend that anyone go to this practice.

Cons: Poor bedside manner, long wait time, incorrect diagnosis

The medicine prescribed was too expensive to afford. The wait was long. The doctor was too quick and did not seem to pay attention. Why bother?

Ratings_icons Expert in the area of Dermatology!!!!

Hauben6

In the mid 1980's and after the birth of my first child, I had the onset of adult acne. As a teeneager, not one blemish! I went to several dermatologists and tried so many different medications, creams, switched detergents, shampoo, and even deodorant....nothing worked! In my mid thirties, my face was scarred terribly and I felt that by this point in time that no matter what doctor I went to.....I was just a number.

A friend recommended Dr. Lawrence Parrish and upon my first visit, I will admit, he was in and out in a short time therefore, I didn't expect much. However, I couldn't have been more wrong...Dr Parrish's treatment worked in just a few short months and then I went back to him for (several) chemical peels to eliminate the poc marks. Now in my mid forties, I am so very thankful to Dr. Parrish!!!!

Pros: Results!!!!

Cons: None

Ratings_icons Rushed through appointment and examination, did not address concerns

catoufc

This was my first appointment at this practice. Both my fiance and I saw Dr. Lawrence parrish. They were short-staffed that day and he squeezed my fiance and I into one appointment/ exam room. I found him terribly unprofessional. He rushed us through the exam, was condescending and did not adequately address our concerns. We were seen for about 5 minutes for the both us! We are not returning to seek his care. I do not recommend this pracitionner.

Pros: short wait time

Cons: unprofessional, rushed, unfriendly personna

I just had an appointment with Dr. Jennifer Parish. I was appreciative that I was able to see her for an emergency appointment the week that I called, She has expert knowledge and was able to diagnose my problem which my general practitioner missed. She was compassionate and explained in detail my condition. I would highly recommend her!

Pros: Kind and intelligent

Ratings_icons Hopeless Doctor

calex123

Waiting periods are usually 15min to 1Hr after called into the rooms. (Not the lobby waiting), Doctor comes in and takes a look for hardly 5-10 seconds at the skin, Never gives you time to explain your problem, comes up some sort of diagnosis within next 5 secs, I'd be happy if it worked, but it never did. He just cant think beyond certain book rules....c'mon he should understand every body has a different metabolism and reacts differently to a medicine. Irrespective of change in condition he'll keep on prescribing same medicine over and over....huh...oh God.!!

Ratings_icons worst doctor I have ever been to

ly1234

Dr. Parish was terrible. He kept me waiting for an hour and then saw me for 30 seconds. He was supposed to check me for skin cancer and barely even looked at my skin. He quickly glanced at my back and did not check any other parts of my skin. He is an awful dermatologist and I do NOT recommend him at all.
