I worked in the area last year. One day, as I was passing through Ame's parking lot, I noticed someone had dropped a pair of eyeglasses. I entered the establishment to ask if they belonged to anyone there, but the answer was negative. I was blown away by how beautiful the place was and made a mental note to schedule some "me" time there in the future.

Not long afterwards, I had a bad run-in with an Ame employee. She was orange-skinned with a black beehive hairdo, which made her scary to begin with. But then she pushed it further by verbally abusing me. For what I will not say, as doing so will reveal my identity if this monster should read this. What a total Jersey Shore reject and skank. Thanks to her, Ame will never get my business. This employee should have kept this in mind while she vituperated me.

Horrible experience. I never write reviews for places, but I felt this one was warranted. I went to AME Salon and Spa for golden highlights, and showed colorist two pictures of what my OWN hair looked like with golden highlights I had in the past, which should have been easy... I have gotten many highlights in the past and never encountered a problem. The colorist COMPLETELY DESTROYED my hair with a BLEACH based dye which she then put under a hot dryer. I could literally pull my hair where it had been dyed and it would stretch and break off. I was so upset that I didn't even want the colorist to do a corrective toner; I didn't trust her to touch my hair again. To make matters even worse, when I was explaining to her how unhappy I was, and how the bleached-out-practically-gray look was not what I was going for, she tried to tell me that it's just how my hair took color. As someone who's been getting highlights for 13 years, I can tell you this isn't the case. That's when I got up and walked out. I told the woman at the front desk that I was leaving and not paying for what had been done, to which she said that she would have a manager call me to rectify the problem (she still hasn't called...) When I was driving home I drove past John Andrews Salon, walked in (and this is not a "walk-in" salon). The owner, Alex, sat with me and calmed my nerves by explaining to me how we could fix my destroyed hair. The staff at John Andrews was nothing short of amazing, and my hair, although completely destroyed from Ame's colorist, looks so much better because of Alex. I would never recommend AME Salon and Spa to anyone, not even my worst enemy. Colorists like the one I had give a bad name to the profession. I'm not naming names, which I very well could, but I don't want to ruin her career because of one mistake. I do however, blame AME Salon and Spa completely for hiring someone who is so obviously clueless when it comes to coloring hair and listening to a client's wishes.

I just moved to the area and AME was highly recommend. I was hooked from my first few visits in the spa. I def. would recommend the physicians rx facial.
I recently had my cut and color done there and i was so impressed with the results. They turned my beat up summer fried hair into natural looking sun kissed hair. So glad I found this place!!!!

Really nice atmosphere. Parking is tough though. Nice hair dressers, felt like I got special attention when I was there. Fun trip, quality service.

I went to Ame for about 2 years and was always pleased. The salon itself is very nice and the women working there were always pleasant. My hair dresser left, so I didn't continue to go there. My only complaint was that the prices are very high. I'm getting my hair done now for almost half the price.

I had made an appointment 3 weeks in advance for a speciality pedicure. The pedicure was supposed to be 15 minutes more than the basic pedicure, but I waited 15 minutes and the service was only 50 minutes. She left me while I soaked for like 10 minutes and then did a choppy job with my nails. The paint job was smudged and I asked to get it fixed and the technician, who had moved on to her next client rolled her eyes before she quickly fixed it. To top it all off, I have a nail fungus in my big toe now, and that was my first pedicure in 3 years BECAUSE i am nervous about cleanliness but was reassured that they disinfect their equiptment thoroughly. I called to complain and left multiple messages and the owner never bothered to return my calls. NEVER AGAIN.

I have been going to Ame since they moved into this facility and love every minute I get to spend there. Nails...massage..hair I have had it all done. They even did my wedding party. Now I have to comment on a previous comment left by another because it is not fair to Ame- if you were late then you cannot complain about being taken in for your treatment in a timely manner. They were waiting for you to arrive! So many people have gone to Ame and get there without a problem, so they probably did not follow directions correctly to be so far off track. And just because someone "checked- in" on you, does not mean they want you off the porch. They may have been checking in to make sure you were not missing another appointment, to make sure you did not need anything and your needs were met. the louge chairs are there for that very reason- to lounge! that said, Ame is wonderful and disregard the comments made by one disgruntled person. there is a reason why Ame has won numerous awards from the mainline to philadelphia magazine.

A friend and I were having a spa day together. I followed the directions on the website which took us nowhere close to the spa. After calling and notifying them I was running late and asking for direction from where I was currently at, I received not so great customer service and practically had to plead for someone to give me directions. Once I arrived at the spa, I had just sat down to relax on the porch when they called my name for my treatment. I can't remember what I had...it wasn't that memorable. My friends treatment didn't start until the tail end of mine so I returned to the porch to get some relaxing in. I noticed I was being "checked" on when finally a staff member came to me and asked if I had another appointment. I explained...no my friend is having her treatment now, I'd rather sit here and relax than shower and sit and wait. I was told she would be out very soon...hint...they didn't want me on the porch. I took a long shower and my friend still did not get out of her treatment until after my shower to which I had to sit and wait for her to get ready exactly what I wanted to not do. I thought the whole idea of a spa was to relax and enjoy and I hardly got that here. My friend also was not happy with massage, saying it was probably the worst she's had. I would not go again and definitely would not recommend this spa to anyone else.

I had my eyebrows waxed at Ame. I should have listen to the previous reviewer because, for $22 I must have paid for the location. For $8, those Vietnamese ladies at most nail salons do a neater and more professional job. When I got home, I had to pluck out my own stray hairs, and my family and friends said it looked like there was no difference. :( I plan to give the salon another chance with a pedicure another time.

I got my wife a gift certificate at the suggestion of my daughter. My daughter has nothing but wonderful things to say about this place so I hoped my wife would like it. She wanted a new look and certainly came home with one, and I think she looks great. (OK she is helping me write this!) She says Brandi did her hair cut and color and made her look years younger. Kathryn did her manicure and pedicure. Now she wants a new ring (just kidding). My daughter told her husband what a "good idea" I had and he called me for the information.
Guys out there-she is so happy I had to write this. I usually use this site for restaurant reviews and she told me I had to write this review too!

I have to say I have never been loyal to a stylist ever- I am a reformed Supercuts girl- but after I received a gift certificate for my birthday last year, I went in for a cut and color. My stylist Heather did an excellent job with the color- it was my first time going darker and I was thrilled. I left feeling twice as attractive as when I went in, and that's what it's all about, right? I have since not gone anywhere else to get my hair done!

Also got a pedicure that was excellent last fall too!

Ame was highly recommended to me by several people for hair and makeup for my wedding day. I recently went to do a "run-through". The woman who did my hair was good. She was patient and willing to try a few different things until we came up with something I was happy with. She even knocked off some $$ because it was only a trail run. However, when it came to make-up I was seriously disappointed. After telling the girl twice that I want something soft, subtle and feminine, she gave me heavy dark brown eyeshadow (I am very pale skinned, blonde hair and blue eyes), unblended eyeliner that looked like two solid lines on my upper and lower lids, foundation that didn't match my skin tone at all (it had a lovely orange hue on me) and uneven dark blush. I didn't get see the finished product until she was done, but I was speechless when I looked in the mirror. I went home and immediately washed my face.
I am going back for my hair on my wedding day, but I would never go back for makeup.

I am an experienced spa attendee, having received over 100 massages from over 20 different spa facilities. This was by far the worst massage I have ever had. The masseuse appeared to be a newly-converted nail person, because she was also responsible for my pedicure that still was not dry 4 hours after I left the salon. But back to the massage. I purchased a 90 minute massage, and almost told the masseuse to stop during the first 15 minutes. She had obviously been trained in the "techniques", but had no awareness of the muscle structure she was massaging, because the techniques were often applied incorrectly. Add on to this that she did not have a smooth and calming approach (tended to do things very quickly, no fluidity in transitions from one movement to another), and I wanted to jump off of the table. I will admit that she was better on my legs and feet, but my arms, neck, head and back suffered greatly during the 90 minutes I was being massaged.

I also had a disastrous eyebrow wax. The technician was very quick, and in her quickness, she thinned out one eyebrow enough that I now need to use an eyebrow pencil (something I have never needed) so that the end of my eyebrow doesn't disappear and appear off-balanced with my other eyebrow. Additionally, the technician did not wax the bridge of my nose evenly, and now my eyebrows are lop-sided.

After returning from my spa afternoon, and realizing the fate of my eyebrows, I called the salon to apprise them of my experience. They apologized, and promised to get back to me within 1/2 hour with a solution. I never heard back from them.

I will NEVER return to this spa, and will not recommend it to any of my spa-loving friends.

When I lived in PA I frequented (then) Pastore's I saw M'liss for hair and Diane (Di) for nails and wax eventually massage body treatments and facials.....Because of all the great people I came to know and love there I decided to go away and get my license in Massage and Esthetics with the hopes of working there (now AME) when I came back to PA. Long story short I still haven't moved back but this would be the first place I would go if/when I do...for a job and or services!! I think I started going in 1994 and as long as I was around the staff was WONDERFUL...not to mention the fact that Lori Pastore as an owner/manager does what she does so well that I never saw any "turnover" in staff...all I ever saw was GROWTH...I rem when Brandi was the baby of the place and had just started assisting....as a client past and hopefully future and a present employee in the industry that speaks volumes to me about the people and the place....I love my job and home in NC but on the slim chance I ever get back up there I would love to work and play there....I've seen the way things are run there and I've seen other places and it gets no better than the folks at AME!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this place! Maria was my hairstylist and she gave me a perm. I went from boring stick straight hair to subtly wavy. I've received many compliments! I also got a half leg wax and the woman who did that was great. She was quick, friendly, and made me feel comfortable.

The amience of the spa is VERY relaxing...and it's only 15 minutes from Philly:)

This was my first experience at a spa and I am in love with Ame! I don't know why some people didn't like this place, but to each his own. I started out with an express facial with Geri who was very friendly but quiet during my treatment. Not only was my face cleansed, steamed, and masqued, but she massaged from my hand to my shoulders. The aroma and music were wonderful and it was in a separte room which was especially nice. And my skin GLOWED. Then came the Tubs and Rubs. Imagine soaking in a jacuzzi with soy milk, then coming out feeling all loose and soothed and THEN having a glorious head to toe massage for an hour. At the end, no one forced me to buy anything, something a lot of spas do. They didn't even bring it up. What a wonderful morning it was.

I have no idea what some of the previous bad reviews are about! I have been going to Ame (previously Pastore in King of Prussia) and Brandy has been doing my hair for almost 10 years! I have never had a bad or negative experience. I had a tech ONCE that talked too much and I asked her if we could not talk because I wanted to relax. She was apologetic and understanding and I thoroughly enjoyed my treatment. They have been named in Philadelphia magazine and national publications of InStyle Nov 05 (for nails) and Allure May 05 (for body treatments) magazines as a place for exceptional treatments. This is a high quality establishment. They all know me there and I hate to see the place get those bad reviews, maybe by someone from a competitor like the other poster mentioned.

I read some previous reviews and decided to give this place a try. I LOVE IT ! Quiet, professional, and classy. Anyone who says otherwise does not recognize quality. I tried several of the people mentioned in the other reviews and they were great. Haircut and color by Brandi best I have ever had. Manicure and pedi by Katie relaxing and lasted a long time. I did notice 2 clients walked in late and were still taken and treated nicely despite the inconvenience and upset to the schedule they caused. They have a relaxing room where you can sit quietly or have a conversation with another person waiting. I will definately be going back. I told my hubby I want a valentine gift certificate!

I go the first Sat of every month as that is when my favorite manicure/pedi person (Katie) works. She explained in detail the disinfection process used and as a medical professional I was very impressed!. Brandi and Kim do fantastic low lights and cuts and all massage therapists are top notch. In fact entire staff and atmosphere fantastic.
I have a feeling some reviewers work for competitors so read profiles carefully!
I live in NY and only visit PA but always love a visit to Ame.

I was highly recommended to Ame and i had the worst experience when I first entered to the very end. Evidently, they were not "ready" in general. The lockers had no locks for me to lock my personal items. My first services were 20 minutes late I had therapist that just got out of massage school. The esthetician made a lot of noise before my facial began and talked most of the time. The japaneses shower/ steam was only a regular shower. When I checked out, the front end was the best experience that I had at AME.

I went to AME salon in Wayne for a change (fall 2005) since the place is very close to my house. I asked for highlights, darker and lighter. After 3 hours my hair was only "colored" and you couldn't see any highlights in my hair. It was 9pm so I went home. I came in to work, all the girls in the office were totally surprised to hear I even had my hair done. Always coming from the other salon the change used to be noticed without even saying anything. I will certainly go back and see what can be done. Time wasted. I don't mind paying the money that was why I selected an expensive place, for quality, but when you receive such service what for?

My first experience at Ame was not so good. My facialist talked too much and was not that great. Receptionist was not friendly - a turnoff. Now I go there on a regular basis -they are super nice to me. (I know this is a con, BUT, for the most part the new receptionists are really nice, and the salon is really good)

DEBBIE is the best spa treatment tech. I used her for facials, microderma, peels. Great demeanor, knowledge, and expertise.

Use BRANDI for haircut and highlights. Love her!

Staff is trained to suggest products customer. Products are great, but I learned to say no if I don't want something.

The zen feeling of the salon with the waterfall and music upstairs is very relaxing.

They are open every day of the week and are open until 9pm on some nights. So convenient.

SALES PRESSURE!!!! I went to AME to relax and to enjoy a list of services. I was offered a list of products to purchase about 3X before I got nasty. The front desk staff even rung up products after I said I didn't want them!!! Very pushy and over priced!

This place is absolutely amazing! Upstairs, they play Japanese music that is transporting and relaxing. After a massage or water treatment, I never want to leave. Thank goodness they let you sit in thier relaxation area for a while before you face the cold weather outside! It is the best place to go after a stressful week. Plus, my eyebrows have never looked better.

I followed this place from their beginning in King of Prussia to the new location in Wayne. I have gone there originally for haircuts, & now since they have branched off into more spa offerings, I have taken advantage. Try the 'burnout buster'. I got my haircut by Sarah Michelle (back in KOP) & the next time I went back, she had left, so I was put w/ Brandy & I have been going back to her ever since. I believe she had just been 'promoted', so if you want a great haircut, ask for her!

I have lived in the area for years, and finally have found a place that does its best to keep its customers. After the wonderful services they provided for my wedding (with an on-staff wedding party consultant to smooth the process - necessary for the big day!!), I have continued to go for the ambience and WONDERFUL staff who always remember my name - this puts them a cut above just about anyone else in the area. Worth the ride to Wayne!
