To make a long story short....we renewed a termite contract with Humphreys on a house that we just bought. The previous owners used them, so we figured we would continue their services since they did previous work and knew the home. I realize now I made a HUGE mistake. I haven't even officially used their services and I have found them very rude, defensive and unprofessional. We are not living in the home at this time due to remodeling and I told them that. My appointment was for 9am. I showed up at 8:57am, only to find that the tech had already been there and left a tag on my door stating he was there at 8:50am, but I guess he couldn't wait. I called the local office and spoke to a man who couldn't locate my account. After 10 minutes, he calls the tech to see if he could come back since I was there. I was told that he couldn't guarantee the time but it would be sometime prior to noon. 3 hours they expected me to wait in a house that has nothing in it since I don't live there. I get transferred to a "manager", named Michael, who tells me that when he makes appointments he doesn't mean "that time on the dot. It could be 15 minutes earlier or later then the time he says." What is that?? I make appointments for the time that I want them for, not the time that I want it to be "around." He said that he wouldn't tell me a specific time like that "in a million year." I ask to be transferred to his boss because I can't believe that he is a manager and is speaking to a customer like that. I end up on the phone with Mrs. Humphreys, or at least she claims to be her. I honestly don't think she was any better. She tried to be nice, but she just kept defending her workers. She never once tried to contact the tech to see if he could come out while I was still at the house. When I mentioned how I was spoken to by the "manager", she changed the subject. She couldn't figure out how to work the system that makes appointments. I couldn't even get squeezed in this week for my inspection. Next week the tech is on vacation, so now I have to wait another week until someone can come out.I used another Pest Control company, Lethal Exterminator, in my previous home and they were wonderful. I called for issues and they were there the next day. They were flexible in every aspect and nice every time I spoke to them. I plan on canceling my policy with Humphreys and going with my previous company. In today's time, with so much competition, companies need to be #1 in customer service, and Humphreys does not make the cut!!!

This is a copy of an e-mail I sent to Humphreys. It describes how bad they have become.

Please pass this on to your company??s owner and management.

I am writing because I just called every phone number you have listed and not one has an answering machine! Amazing. What a way to do business. I have been a customer for years and your service now sucks. We were sprayed on May 9. The current problem was little ants in the kitchen and bathroom (which we haven??t had for 20 years). When the problem remained after your man sprayed, I called 5 days later and was told the absolute lie that sometimes these problems take over a week to resolve. I was told to call back after a week had elapsed. We went out of town for a few days and on our return the problem was worse. They are now in the cabinets and stove. I called today (Saturday) and was told no one is available until Thursday. That is outrageous! If I had a customer who was given bad service, I would go fix the problem myself if an employee was unavailable. The bottom line is that Thursday is too long to wait. By then the ants will own the house.

Not answering the phone or having a message answering service is also unprofessional, and rude to customers (and pretty stupid if you ask me). I have not only been a customer, but have gotten your company business, including termite jobs. Back when Bob was our service man, we never had any problems. He sprayed big mists outside every spring without being asked, which prevented ant problems. The other guys are nice but are no match for Bob??s knowledge and professionalism.

I will be putting out the word about your company??s customer service and will see if there are any websites out there to let people know how bad you have gotten. Get your act together before you are out of business.
