I have been going to Squirrel Hill Family Prcatce for over 10 years. Recently they switched from Highmark to UPMC so I even switched along with them to kepp my PCP. Mistake #1. \r

First, UPMC didn't cover my prescriptions. A year later

The doctors are mediocre at best, often prescribing out dated medications to treat conditions or suggesting regimens that have already been found ineffective. The doctors are clearly not up to date on medical info, which means they could easily prescribe dangerous medicine combinations. The staff is decidedly lax in their attention to patients. As the previous reviewer said, appointment calls will go unanswered, they don't keep track of who's checked in or out, and they'll openly scoff at you if you ask for help.

This practice is currently the subject of several negligence/wrongful harm suits, which should tell you about the level of care you'll find here. If you're in Squirrel Hill looking for health providers, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere!

Pros: Location

Cons: Staff, ignorant doctors, poor standard of care

I really liked a few of the Doctors but the one I really liked left. I felt in good hands when there.
My bills were all incorrectly submitted to my insurance company. I noticed they had the number wrong at the second appointment and notified them. Then the bills were submitted six months later, with wrong social security number and I was billed six months worth of visits all at once. My insurance of course denied because they used the wrong number (which I had asked them to correct). I just received another bill for services back in November (it's June). They are zero bills correctly submitted for over twenty visits for a simple account number problem. I finally changed doctor's office because between the billing, can't get an appointment (won't call you back) and not crazy about my new doctor it wasn't worth going there anymore.
Getting them to call you back to make an appointment is not reliable. Over half of my phone calls for an appointment were not returned at all. No problem making an appointment in person but that's ridiculous to have to go down there to make an appointment.
The offices are clean, well let and pleasant. The nurses and front desk staff are great too. It's a shame I have to change doctors over the billing department and can't get an appointment (because they won't return my calls). I suspect they wanted me to change offices.

Pros: Good staff, parking lot next to offices

Cons: Billing department, trying to get an appointment
