In February 2009, my husband and I purchased a used car from Spankey's Auto Sales in Carlisle, PA. We bought a 2003 Kia Sedona for $7900. We also traded in my husband's car (which needed some work) and got a $1500 trade-in for it. Spankey's offered a 90-day warranty through their dealership and then we purchased the extended warranty. When we purchased the minivan, the "check engine" light was on. They quickly brought the car into their repair shop and "fixed" the problem. Within a few days, the check engine light was back on. The only reason we purchased this vehicle with the check engine light on was because of the warranty. Between Feb 23 and May 23 the car was back into their shop 5 or 6 times. When their warranty expired in May, we took the car to Kia to see if they could diagnose the problem. We paid $95 for them to hook it up to the computer (for the 7th time) and we were told that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The final cost would be $2900. I called Spankey's multiple times and they are not willing to fix this problem even though they have acknowledged that it's been going on since the day I bought the car. At this point they are not even returning phone calls.
