Yay! I love Chloe! They have really delicious food, I frequent there and I have yet to be disappointed. I know there are some concerns with the staff but I have never been anything other than pleased with the staff and my expereinces there. My only gripe is the no reservations policy which kind of blows if you're trying to plan your evening... oh well, definitely check it out!

Chloe is, hands down, my favorite restaurant in Philadelphia. It is not cheap, yet is affordable and well worth the price. I recommend it to any one that asks, for any occasion, and have only received great feedback in return. It is a quaint, intimate restaurant that even when full, gives you the feeling that these are your own private chefs/servers. When I have the time, in the fall/winter, I try to dine here every friday night and am amazed that I have never had to wait. They do not take reservations yet even on new years eve the wait was not obnoxious and the atmosphere was so fun that my party ended up making friends with another group. The servers are very personable and the food... Well don't get me started. I was a vegetarian for 14 years yet still found new and exciting things at chloe. Everything is made fresh on the premises and the desserts are to die for. Between my boyfriend and I, we have tried everything on their menu. There is nothing that we wouldn't recommend. Go see for yourself.

This was one of many times dining at Chloe and usually have a fantastic experience, however my last meal may be just that.

I tried to add something to my Chloe salad and was told by the waiter "she won't do that" I assume he was referring to the chef. I was just puzzled by that since it was just adding an ingredient from another salad onto the Chloe salad. I've had this experience before and it really makes me wonder what the rationale could be. Whatever the reason, it spoiled the rest of the meal, and in the end cost them more than the trouble it would've been to accommodate the request.

If I were the server, I would've figured out a way to make my guest happy regardless of the policy.

This was my first time at Chloe. On a Saturday night, I was told that there was going to be an hour and a half wait, which knowing the long timeframe, was pleased to find that the wait was 45 minutes. The description of specials was presented in an appealing manner, the meal was quick to be served, delicious, and the atmosphere was quaint and personal. As a BYOB restaurant, any dish could please our choice of wine, which was a pleasant surprise. More importantly, our hostess Colleen left an everlasting impression and has caused me to write this review. I cannot wait to go back.

Thank you,
Aurora, Stefanie, and Sean

Let me tell the other side of the "Memorable?" post by theappetite on 5/2/09. The story would lead you to believe that they had ordered their desert & coffee, asked for the check & then asked to have ANOTHER bottle of wine opened ?? not quite. They had long finished desert & coffee & had paid the check. A party of 6 had been waiting outside for the table. The waitress told the woman very politely that she would open it, but that they could not drink it there because they needed the table. She agrees & does not appear to have a problem - then turns around to the others & tells them how they were basically just told to get the hell out! HUH? Another woman (the one who wanted the wine opened) who was slurring her speech & flailing her glass around, repeats about 6X, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? - much louder than she realized because drunks never know their own volume. It was only after this uproar did the hostess step in to explain that they could not sit there & drink with people waiting for the table. As they continued to twist the story & talk trash about the staff who had made every attempt to be polite, I could not take it anymore & had to speak up - pointing out the group waiting outside. theappetite thinks I was explaining the dynamics of BYOB dining? No, I was explaining the dynamics of not acting like an ass! She tells me how much they just spent ?? um, so? Your not paying for the wine you want to sit there & milk. Even her post announces the amount of the check & tip??as if that entitles them to take business from a small restaurant, take tips from a wonderful waitress & keep 6 people from enjoying their meal & spending just as much. SELFISH! Take your money to any one of the restaurants in the area that have a CASH bar where you can sit & drink yourself into a blackout & PAY FOR IT.

What??s with the "crown" references (mind you it was a dollar store tiara being worn for fun). I would rather ??announce? my bday, than announce that I've had too much wine by the way I act. Had they gone to my second favorite BYOB, La Locanda, they would have been told to get out just the way it played out in their heads - I wonder how that post would have been embellished ?? that they were punched in the face? - now there's a fantasy!

I'm sure they believe that their version is truth, but several sober people saw it different. Nearly everyone applauded when they left & the thank you shouted from one of the other patrons was for finally leaving!

Pros: The Staff, Gnocchi w/ Duck Ragu, Ribs w/ Mac & Cheese

Cons: Closed on Sunday

When we walked into Chloe, the amazing Flavors of the food immediately got my attention. The waitress greeted us with a smile and kindly said she would seat us when our party was completed, in the mean time she offered to open our wine. While the restaurant was pretty full, we wondered where she would seat us! We were a party of 6. As we sipped our wine, I was observing the the cozy ambiance, along with the two servers glidding by eachother working in high volume. Several others came in after us and put there names on a list. (one of which seemed to be a regular) whom, gave the server a hard time because she was not going to be seated right away! The server explained that a party of 6 was infront of her, and offered to open her wine while she waited. Immediately, after our party was completed the server rearranged some tables and sat us comfortably in the back of the restaurant.

Well, I dont know what everyone is complaining about! The food was amazing. To start we ordered the Fennel with Mozz Chesse, Potato soup topped with truffle oil, (unbelievable) and the beat and chloe salad. For our main dishes we got the Ribs, served with Mac and Cheese, the Halibut Special topped with ham, and the Pan Seared Scallops. To end our night with something sweet we orded the banana bread pudding with Pumkin Ice Cream, topped with Carmel Sauce, the cheese cake, and the peach cake with coconut gelato.

All and All we had a fabulous time. The Flavors were amazing, The Service was Sweet, and the Ambiance was Cozy! What more could you ask for, the first weekend of fall....

We just got back from our first dinner at Chloe and will never go back. The food was fair - a little bland (we needed to ask for salt) and the service was slow even though there were only three other tables in use. However, the HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, especially from the owner/chef sealed the deal. One would think that with an empty restaurant and mediocre, over priced food she would try to be a little more welcoming to the few patrons there.

.

When you have pretentious people who are in the position of being in customer service, it is the most unfortunate circumstance for both parties. Let's face it, clearly the staff of Chloe hates their jobs otherwise they wouldn't treat customers with such disgust running off their faces.

The food was excellent, but I would never EVER go back there because of the service. When we confronted our waiter about him being so rude to us, he simply said "I'm sorry you feel that way."

I hope he gets fired.

Where to start...

So, we thought we were going to be seven. We were told that Chloe does not seat more than six.
Fortunately, we had a last minute cancellation which trimmed us to six.
The staff was more than accommodating in arranging our seating.

The menu was small, but had an ample and varied selection. We ordered both appetizers and dinner.

The ravioli and the oysters drew raves. The asparagus was a little more burned than grilled, but on the whole, there were no complaints.

Five of the six dinners were perfect. The special of the day, halibut, was superb and about as large a portion as one could possibly expect. One diner in the party ordered salmon well done which, while "overcooked" to the rest of us, was done perfecly to her liking. Kudos to that kind of service.

The only meal that was lacking was the ribs. They were underseasoned, undersauced and undercooked. Honestly, if you're not a 'rib joint' you shouldn't offer this item. Ironically enough, the side dish that accompanied the ribs, macaroni and cheese with truffle oil, was unanimously voted as the single best menu item at our table. It wasn't even close.

Then the fun began. Ugh.

We ordered dessert and coffee and asked for the check.
We also asked if they would open our last bottle of wine.
Even though we were six splitting a bottle (one glass per head) some woman who worked there in some capacity and was wearing a crown to signify that it was her birthday felt compelled to tell us that we needed to leave soon.
It wasn't so much that we didn't understand that a 30 seat restaurant needs to turn over tables to be profitable or that we wanted to stay much longer. It was that she was blatantly impolite about it.
This became the subject of conversation at our table amongst a few of the diners.
A nearby table of two gentlemen, one of whom was now wearing the aforementioned crown, chimed in and attempted to explain to us the dynamics of BYOB dining. Gee, thanks.
The woman who had been wearing the crown came back to our table and informed me directly that she didn't want us causing trouble among the customers.
Huh?
"We don't need that" and "We could take it elsewhere", I believe she said.

For the record, she initiated any rancor with her rude demeanor.
The nearby table, presumably of regular customers (as evidenced by their familiarity with the staff), interjected of their own accord.
And, I was uninvolved with the entire incident until it came time to 'reprimand' us.
After we left a gentleman came outside on the stoop and hollered a "thank you" to us on the corner. None of us were sure if it was sincere or an immature, sarcastic provocation.

Either way, lost in the whole experience was very good food and even better service from our waitress (who was very contrite). I actually felt bad for her. It is difficult to make a living when people with whom you work are operating against your interest. (We still left her $70 on $280 as this was none of her doing.)

I thought the meal was four-star good. However, I cannot get past the fact that we treated so disrespectfully.
I can see this place being well liked for the food.
But, I will never dine there again.
There are just too many good restaurants in Philadelphia that don't act they're doing you a favor by 'allowing' you to eat there.

The menu is not extensive but the food is great. They are happy to keep your wine cool for you while you are ordering (or keeping the second bottle cool).

Chloe is a lovely French BYOB in Philly. My boss has been telling me to try this place for 2 years. I finally did and was not disappointed. The food is out of this world and the portions are large Only downside - It's a very small restaurant and they don't take reservations.

We were delighted to be able to try out Chloe with out-of-town guests Saturday night. Our game plan on the busiest Saturday in Philly (convention, World Series game, Penn Family weekend) was to dine early-we were a party of 5. Raining and miserable outside, the candlelit charm of Chloe was very inviting. The decor is warm and cozy. What was not so inviting was the surly hostess that would not seat us until the group member parking the car showed up (even after we stopped by the restaurant to inquire about a group of 5 before we picked up our out-of-town guests at their hotel.) Yet, while dining, I noticed a couple seated at a table of 4 alone for a bit until their dining mates eventually joined them. They must be regulars. On a high note, our waitress was terrific (dressed in her Utley Phillies shirt) and made up for the sourness of the hostess.
As to the food, our appetizers and desserts were absolutely delicious - a melange of salads, oysters, and a shrimp dish started off the night along with the hummus and bread brought to the table. Nice touch. The entrees were not as memorable. The stuffed pork chop was overcooked and the scallop with garbanzo beans had too many oily beans. The tuna diner loved her meal. We split two desserts among the five of us and the banana bread pudding with vanilla ice cream was perfect for a fall night and the chocolate mousse was light yet had the perfect chocolate touch. Bravo.
Personally, I will not be running back to Chloe as there are so many other BYOB options in Philadelphia but I would recommend it with a caveat. Order several appetizers - skip the entrees and everyone order dessert.

I went to Chloe last night with my mom, and my friend ,Sarah. When my friend Sarah recommended it, I was a little skeptical due to some of the reviews I had read. However, I wanted to see for myself what this resturant would be like, and believe me, I am happy I did!!!!
We went to Chloe around 6, and we had no wait at all! The staff was friendly and informative about the menu. We took I time with the menu and didn't feel rushed at all to order. Our waitress was awesome!
We ended up ordering the mussells as an appitizer to share among the 3 of us. They were incredible, from the sauce, to the bread to the actual mussells, it was awesome! And there was enought for all of us to share!
My friend Sarah and I ordered the tuna, which was AMAZING, while my mom ordered the scallops, which were also incredible! We didn't end up ordering dessert, because we were all so full, but next time, I hope to! They looked great! Our waitress didn't push us out when we were finished, she told us to enjoy our wine, after dinner,so we did!
All in all I highly recommend this resturant! I am defintly going back!

I recently went to this restaurant because I am always looking for great byob's in the city and wanted to try something new. Before I decided to go I read the reviews on here and was a bit hesitant after reading some. I wasn't nervous about the food because 90% of them were good but there were a handful of scathing reviews about the staff... and i have to say i do not know what night they went on but the staff WAS AMAZING!!! and the food was so freaking good! It was well prepared and had a complex modern favor palette. I can't wait to go back and try some other items on the menu. They were beyond friendly and our waitress was an absolute doll! She explained all the specials in detail and was very knowledgeable about any dish we had questions about. After we were done eating we finished a very large bottle of wine and was not rushed at anytime to leave, mine you it was not a weekend and wasn't super busy. I will most certainly go to this restaurant again, and SOON! It is a new additional to my other favorite Philadelphia BYOBs!

On Thursday night ate at Chloe for the second time. Loved it..., but didn't think they needed my review, place was full, people were happy...we were very happy.( had Tuna, Gnocchi, Ribs and Chicken). Tonite we went to Vetri, loved it, was going to post about it, saw negative review. Checked it out and realized same person had posted a bad review of Chloe...Dude what is your problem.?..You hate Chloe & Vetri? Really? Are you a plant ? Both this persons reviews should be removed from both sites. Everyone loves Chloe & Vetri.

I'll get right to the point: the decor was pretty pathetic, service sucked, and food was so-so. I had the pork chop with sweet potato mashed potato's topped with pineapple (it was a special). Anyway, the juice from the pineapple turned my sweet potato mash into sweet potato soup. The pork chop was okay but I couldn't finish all of it because a portion of it was undercooked. Did I mention the decor is tragic. There are just too many great BYO's out there at the same price point to waste your time going here.

Pros: A portion of my meal was good

Cons: Everything else imaginable

.

Went to Chloe on Friday night with a group of friends. Service was great , casual and fun. My friend wants to work there. Food was really great. I had a pork chop that was soooo big I got another meal out of it the next day. One friend had the bbq ribs, another had the chicken, another had scallops. Everything was great!!! Don't miss the cheeesecake. Can't wait to go back!

I have to admit, the food was pretty good (although the entrees were the size of a small app). However, I have never seen such a miserable waitstaff in my life. We dealt with 4 different people working the front of the house and each was ruder than the next. Everyone there seemed to hate the customers and treated us with utter disdain. 3 ravioli in a butter sauce isn't worth the abuse.

I've been to Chloe multiple times and have had not complaints, except their no-reservations policy.
Service has always been prompt and friendly.
The food has been consistently great and the range of dishes sufficient for group of as many as 6 at a time.
If I had to name one weakness, it would be the deserts which are good yet not up to the rest of the food. But then again, the portions are such that I suspect few will have room for deserts anyhow.

My husband and I are in our mid-late twenties. When we go to dinner, we like to go to fun, vibrant places. Our favorite BYOB is Mercado, but we thought we would try something new. Chloe's food was good - no complaints. But the atmosphere was lacking. We were, by several decades, the youngest people there. Our attire was wrong - I wore jeans and a halter top and felt very overdressed/naked among the cardigan clad women in the restaurant. Sitting was close, which is typical. However, we were seated next to the most obnoxious, loud speaking couple. Neither I, nor my husband, could concentrate on our own conversation, and the conversation we were absorbed in was not even a good one. The lighting was dark, but not a good romantic dark - more of a depressing dark. I definitely don't recommend this restaurant for young couples who are looking for a fun (or romantic night) on the town.

My girlfriend and I went to Chloe last night and ate till we could eat no more. Started with tuna tartar, baked oysters, and the Chloe salad. Then we had wonderfully light gnocchi with a 3 meat ragu. Then I had BBQ ribs with grown up mac & cheese, and she had roast chicken with chesse, tomatoes & I think artichokes. And then we had cheesecake for dessert. We ate every last bite! Great food.

Don't believe the hype!!! We went after reading some good reviews here on this site. But READ CLOSER!!!
The reviews on City Search about the rude staff are dead-on. Our waitress was terrible - haughty and not at all accommodating. We waited forever - with at least one party arriving after we did and being seated before we were. Worst of all - the food was completely unimpressive. My friend got terribly sick from the lamb.

Chloe would be a bad restaurant in a 2nd-rate city. In Philadelphia, which is full of great restaurants with friendly staffs, it is just plain awful.

My sister and I try to get out to dinner together every month. We used to venture out to new spots, until she moved to Old City. Since then we have been to Chloe 5 times, and can't wait to go back again. As soon as you enter you feel like you've come home. The staff greets us with a warm smile and the food always satisfies. It is a great little spot where we truely feel at home. If you go on a night that they are serving the pork chop GET IT!!! Chloe salad also a must, as is the best cheesecake ever. A true neighborhood gem.

I've been to Chloe's a dozen times or so over the last few years and have never had a bad experience. The food is excellent, the service quick and friendly, the waitstaff helpful and knowledgable, and the ambiance relaxing. I usually go before the theater and have never had to wait. My friend and I have tried many other restaurants in Old City but keep returning to Chloe's for the consistently good meals. .A small restaurant that is this good can fill quickly so they don't seat a party until all members are physically in the restaurant. Apparently this upsets some people so be aware of this before you come.

A friend of mine regularly eat at Chloe's before heading to the theater. The food is always consistently good and the service is fantastic. We do not understand some of the previous posts, as we have never been treated rudely nor rushed out even when there have been many people waiting for a table.

Chloe's and their waitstaff are highly recommended!

If you go to Chloe, be careful of the obnoxious staff.

I give it a "1" only because the food was decent. But, no cuisine could have made up for the atrocious service we received at Chloe.

The waitress was more than rude. She was arrogant, impatient, and aggressively confrontational. To start at the end - the waittress actually followed us out of the restaurant screaming at us about our gratuity. You might be wondering what we tipped? We are 20% or more tippers - unless the service is bad - then we go down to 15%. Although the Chloe waitress clearly did not deserve a standard tip, we tipped $21 on a $140 bill. This apparently sent this waitress into a frenzy. I seriously thought I might have to call the Police.

I have never written a poor review of anything - primarily b/c I don't have time. I also understand that sometimes people have bad days and don't deserve to be called out in public. Yesterday's experience was so bad, this woman's behavior so beyond the pale, that I had to post this review.

From the beginning, the staff was rude. Despite the fact that the restaurant was empty, they made 3 of the 4 in our party wait until the 4th person arrived. The waitress, even before her ridiculous post-meal behavior, seemed to have just lost a pet. She also had a large, hooped, nose-ring going from one nostril to the other.

She seemed annoyed when asked to repeat a special, annoyed when we asked her to open a bottle of wine, annoyed when we weren't ready to order right away. When one of us asked to substitute mashed potatoes for the jasmine rice, the waitress told her that the chef wouldn't do it. After my friend then ordered a side of the mashed potatoes, she came back and said they didn't have enough. I am not kidding.

When we were finished eating dessert , another of the wait-staff actually tried to rush us out - telling us that the table was reserved (of course, "Chloe" does not take reservations).

Pick another BYOB!

went here on a whim & everything was amazing from start to finish -- adorable atmosphere, specials absolutely amazing (we've now been twice) -- though the standard menu is small, everything is fabulous (we've had just about everything and have never been disappointed) -- always several specials also --
among the dishes we recommend most -- beef ragu & gnocchi, ribs, fig pizza, grilled caesar salad, bread pudding
though the chef is usually not willing to make changes to dishes, we have found the dishes don't need changes -- service is attentive, although can be cold -- no reservations, so come early & if you have to wait, it's worth it!

My wife and I were looking for a quite night out without the kids, and we found a new favorite spot in Chloe. Arrived around 6:00 on Thurs. night and sat right down. Loved everything we ate. I had a pork chop special that still makes my mouth water thinking about it. My wife had the Salmon. From start to finish, we had a wonderful evening - service, food, atmosphere! As soon as we can get a sitter again we are going back.

On the recommendation of a Philadelphia friend, my wife and I took my daughter and her husband to Chloe. We arrived early on Saturday night, and were seated a few minutes later at 6:20 p.m. when our group was complete. We had a very nice meal, with appetizers all around, main courses (only one of which missed-the special), desert and coffee. We were finishing as the check was brought, which was paid with a generous tip. As we were finishing the last few sips of our drinks, the little table seater boy came to our table and asked us to leave because "people are waiting." This was 8:15 p.m. Two hours for a full three course meal is not excessive at an expensive restaurant. I have never been so rudely treated at a restaurant before, and needless to say, we will not return. To top it off, as we were leaving, we noted no one waiting either in the entryway nor outside. Great little bistro. Comfort food but with a twist. Only item I'd avoid was the grilled ceasar salad. I just don't think romaine stands up well to heat. The gnocci was fantastic - mouth watering little pillows of yumminess. Seafood dishes have all been superior. Don't skip dessert. There's also parking and a liquor store w/in a block or so.

Go early or expect long waits on weekends as they don't take reservations.

The hostess complained to me about the other customers and held tables for people on the waiting list that were not there. I ordered a special of the day, which was a Butterfish with sauteed spinach, a tomato-crabmeat mix and slice of polenta. The fish was tough and had no flavor other than lemon which is used to cover up fish that is going bad. The spinach was greasy, not sauteed and had no flavor. The crabmeat was quite good. There was so much grease on the plate that it filled the entire bottom of the large plate. It is about 24hrs after my dining experience and my stomach still hurts. This lends me to believe that the fish was in fact old and going bad.
I do not recommend this restaurant at all.

Went to Chloe on Sat. and had the best meal ever. My husband and I started with the prawns and Chloe salad. good to the last bite. Then we shared the foie gras torchon which was melt in your mouth. For entrees - BBQ Pork ribs & Tuna. (some of the ribs came home with us for lunch the next day) dessert was bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. The staff was friendly and helpful without being pushy. Can't wait to go back to our favorite new spot. Keep up the good work guys! And thank you!

There were 3 tables open, and no one waiting, when we arrived. A host said that since our name wasn't on the wait list, we couldn't eat at Chloe's. This was strange considering they do not accept reservations. The "wait list" is some game they play; show up at some point in the night when the restaurant is full and put your name on a list. Then you can leave and return to a table. When they start taking names, is undeclared. We pointed there was no one waiting, they say they do not take reservations, and he had no way of knowing that those who gave names would return. Their policy is that they will only seat your party when everyone is there, but they will hold a table with NO ONE there, all the while not accepting reservations.
Enduring Chloe's unfriendly insulting treatment isn't worth the food.

The food, service and overall experience exceded my high expectations. For starters, we ordered asparagus bundles the special, gnocci. Both were incredible, especially the perfect blend of meats in the gnocci. For main courses, we had the BBQ Ribs-INCREBDIBLE!! and the cheese ravioli, which was awesome in taste, but i felt there could have been a few more on the plate. The warm cheesecake slid down our throats. Highly recommended. My only complaint about the restaurant was the heat. The fact that it was a 95 degree day may have had an impact, but it was HOT in the restaurant. Both my date and I were uncomfortable in the heat. Only 2 small fans were cooling the whole room. Otherwise, I give Chloe two thumbs up.

I thought the food, service and overall experience was great, plus it's BYOB so you can enjoy a nice bottle of wine and not have to pay 2-3X retail.
The only thing I would not recommend was the cesar salad. I was different. I had fish, halibut, I think, it was fantastic.
Service is friendly. Our waitress was very "eclectic" but nice. Would recommend highly.

I went there with my fiancee this past weekend, and it was amazing. THe hostess was ultra-friendly, especially considering it was a Saturday night and there was a long wait (which didn't end up being that long after all). We started off with the most delicious mussels I've had in all of Philadelphia (even more than Monk's). And then we had the ribs and the scallops. The ribs fell off the bone, and the scallops were in a great sauce. They were pretty big too.

DEFINITELY worth the wait.

Went there for a date in the Fall on a Friday night. We were pleased when the host took our name and our bottle and poured us a glass of wine to drink while waiting outside. Nice touch. He assured us that space for two would open up in no more than 10 minutes. 20 minutes later I was assured with a smile that, again, room for 2 would open in just another 10 minutes. All the while we wathced in disbelief as other parties of varying sizes were seated before us. 45 minutes after putting our name on his useless list, we took back our bottle and left. The host gave us attitude when confronted about his lack of fairness. This is a small specialty place that apparently has the luxury to pick its customers. Hopefully the friends of the host are enough to keep it going. Don't bother.

Ate at Chloe over the weekend. Waited about 45 min. for a table, and it was worth every minute. My boyfriends parents love this place, and now I see why. I had the best pork ribs ever, and plenty left over for lunch the next day. our waitress was really smart about the menu and she kept us laughing the whole time. My boyfriend had the potato soup with trufle oil. YUMMY!!! I think he's still dreaming about it, and the lamb skewers. Desserts to die for! All this and leftovers for about $68.00 . Can't wait to go back. Heard that week nights are not as crazy

My boyfriend had the potato soup with trufle oil. YUMMY!!! I think he's still dreaming about it, and the lamb skewers. Desserts to die for! All this and leftovers for about $68.00 . Can't wait to go back. Heard that week nights are not as crazy

.

I can't get enough of Philadelphia's numerous BYOB's, and Chloe is one of my favorites after just one visit. The menu is excellent, as you'd expect from the rating. The three dollar-sign price rating is a bit high, since most of the menu is in the high teens to low twenties. A blackboard at the rear of the restaurant tempts you with its list of desserts and the wait staff is very friendly. In the winter time, a poorly hung front entrance can let in a cold draft, so you might want to keep your coat with you at your table. Also, the stairwell to the basement restrooms was strangely unheated during my visit. I look forward to visiting during warmer months. Don't forget to bring cash and a bottle of wine.

Pros: Cozy atmosphere, Great food, desserts, Good staff

Cons: drafty in winter

With so many restaurants in Philadelphia, why choose this one. We were expecting a pleasant dining experience after hearing and reading about this BYOB, but left with a bad taste in our mouths, literally. My wife and I tried Chloe the other night and both of us were terribly unimpressed. The food was mediocre and uninspired, especially for the price tag, the waitress was abysmal (haughty and abrasive), and the atmosphere was far from charming. Dining out is about the experience this one was definitely not worth repeating. On the upside, the wine was goodoh, I forgot, we brought the wine.

Pros: Location, BYOB

Cons: Food, Service, Value

Cozy atmosphere, great service, and terrific food. I love restaurants like this, unpretentious, comfortable with a creative menu. I thoroughly enjoyed my grilled caesar salad, gnocchi and banana bread pudding.

LORI AND I WERE IN TOWN FOR A LONG PRE-HOLIDAY WEEK-END. AFTER A LONG DAY OF SIGHTSEEING CHLOE'S WAS A WELCOMING OASIS. WITH CASH IN OUR POCKET AND A GREAT BOTTLE OF WINE FROM A NEARBY STORE WE SETTLED IN FOR A WONDERFUL DINNER, FEATURING GREAT SERVICE IN AN INTIMATE ATMOSPHERE. THE SWEET POTATOE SOUP, GNOCHI'S IN A LAMB-DUCK RAGOUT, CHLOE SALAD AND BASS (ONE CHILEAN AND ONE WILD STRIPED) WERE ALL TASTE TREATS. NO ROOM FOR DESSERT!

My husband and I just ate at Chloe on a Friday night. At 8 pm we had a 45 minute wait, so we went to Charlie's on the corner and had a drink. The atmosphere is casual and homey, it was loud- but thats to be expected with a tiny BYOB. Our server was very friendly, quick with recommendations, and let us sit and enjoy our wine after our entrees (we weren't rushed at all). I had the house chloe salad and SeaBass, both we perfectly balanced in flavor and seasoning. My husband had the shrimp appetizer and Baby Back Ribs, Ive never seen so much food on one plate! Needless to say we had no room for dessert, but brought a Bread Pudding home for later and it was heavenly. Even the coffee was exceptional. Chloe was a great casual date night and we'll be back again and again.
