Good location, but poor parking.

by Coreen H. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 421

We have used this site for 5 years now for our mid-size work convention. The ballrooms and smaller rooms work well for our main events and break out sessions. However, for an organization that now has a history with the hotel, we always find ourselves struggling to lock in the same week year after year. Parking is horrible, and offers limited availibility to our regional attendees. The staff is very accommodating, but another show is always booked on our heals and we find them setting up around us, which is annoying for our participants. The site is close to a variety of restaurants which is a plus.

Nice business hotel. Weak restaurant.

by cougaboutown

I stayed here on a recent trip. The room was $200 per night plus taxes on Hotelsdotcom. For that price and being right downtown it was a very good value. My room was well appointed and quiet. This hotel is starting to show its age, however, and could use a renovation. But, the room was clean. The windows are very small but there isn't much that can be done about that now. The television worked, but was pretty old. I had breakfast at their lobby restaurant. Standard expense account experience: way overpriced, but those of you who travel know what I mean. The neighborhood is ok and it's not too far from the art museum. It is, on the other hand, quite a hike to the Independence Hall area. It's very handy to the financial district.

Pros: Nice bed, quiet room, close to financial district.

Cons: Showing wear around the edges, restaurant very overpriced.

Don't Stay if You Want To Sleep

by 58rocker

My wife and I were taking our daughter to college. We stayed here b/c it was close to the college.
All night long there was screaming and partying up and down the hall. Repeated calls to the front desk were useless. And they charge you $25.00 to park . Stay in the suburbs and drive into center city.
The prices are better and you get a good night's sleep.

Pros: In Center City

Cons: High priced, constant partying in the halls all night, staff were not helpful

Nothing to write home about

by jkimwright

You'd think that for the prices they charge, the Sheraton City Center would be a great place to stay but we were not pleased. After a room rate shocked us frequent travelers (but which we couldn't avoid because we were exhibitors at a conference in the hotel), we were hounded by extra fees for everything. Receiving a piece of mail, $10. A refrigerator in the room, $20. Bottled water in the room must have been golden - Poland Springs water was $4.95. Parking in the hotel $25 a day. Internet $9.95 per day per computer. The staff was often very helpful but most of them waited expectantly for the big tip when they did even the smallest task. Food in the hotel was outrageously expensive and we heard it wasn't very good from the folks who ate it...we were glad to have brought some of our own food. The room was clean but sparsely furnished. I was glad we'd brought an extra camp chair for our exhibit space so we had a chair to sit in other than at the desk!

Pros: downtown location

Cons: expensive with extra charges for everything
