Sherry is gifted at cutting hair. She did a GREAT job with my fine limp short hair and has continued to work with me. It now has volume and looks beautifully cut. It takes minimal styling and care. She has the best attitude of any stylist I have ever worked with. She really wants her client to be happy.

Ali does a great facial, leg, underarm, brow wax. She has created an oasis of relaxation that I look forward to.

I can't say enough good about either of them or the Phoenix Salon. And their prices seem very competitive.

1. Staff is rude. 2. You have to pray they don't assign you to the someone who doesn't know what the hell they're doing. 3. Overpriced when you look at the level of service and lack of expertise.

I have been going to see Sherry for my hair- both highlights and cutting- for many years. She just moved to the Phoenix from her other hair salon and I hope the owners there realize how lucky they are that they have Sherry. She is so talented and so nice and I was nervous to make the switch but am so neurotic and selfish about my hair, I wasn't willing to take a risk and try someone new. I went to the Phoenix for the first time and it is really nice and really convenient to my office. It is actually easier for me to get to. Her prices are the same as what I used to pay and I was nervous about that too because some of the reviews say it is more expensive than they wanted to pay. I had a good experience and I am glad I was able to find Sherry again.

I had a wonderful experience after a short stay in there lobby, Where I was asked if I wanted coffee or tea. Then I was swooped in to the back to be pampered with all my scheduled treatments. I loved the service and the girls. Just make sure to book your appointments in advance so you can enjoy yourself.
I preffered the spa treatment but the manicure area seams to always be busy. love this place but bring your check book.

Easily the worst spa I've been to in Philadelphia. Most of these "glowing" reviews were probably written by the staff. Apparently, some of these folks think working in an "upscale" scale, somehow gives them the right to be rude snobs. Get over yourselves, you work in a spa for a living, and take a class in customer service 101.

I had been given a gift certificate to the "best salon in town" but the colorist/stylist was un professional. wanted me to pick my hair color from a chart, I could do that in CVS. She used a razor on my hair and it feels terrible. Didn't bring me coffee had to ask another customer for a magazine Then when I went to the counter to pay and the bill was $165 I was shocked she wasn't a top stylist
I was looking for ward to my treat but left feeling very disappointed

I just returned from a trip to the Phoenix salon and spa where I got my hair cut and colored from Bruce. He did a great job on my highlights and cut. He listened to what I wanted done and did exactly that.
The only thing I was disappointed with was the price. Talk about sticker shock! My bill came to just under $300! He recommended I try some express color for 7 minutes which is a dye applied only to the roots which I could have done without, which in turn those 7 minutes cost me $70! When I called the salon to find out about pricing they just told me his highlights start at $135 and could not give me any more info. Needless to say they were a bit more.
I would recommend Bruce if you don't mind spending the money because my hair does look good. But if its not in your budget beware.

I'm extremely disappointed after visiting Phoenix Salon two weeks ago. I booked a hair cut, they did not let me choose the stylist I wanted although I was a new client. And I came in 10 minutes early and wasn't seen until 20 mins after my appointment. The haircut was way over priced for the quality, and for a regular stylist. Would not accommodate for my concerns. Would not recommend this salon to anyone.

Bruce has been doing my hair for 7 years and i couldnt ask for anyone better. He is the best person to have ever colored and cut my hair. Everywhere I go people always say, "i love your hair color." I would refer anyone to him. I believe that he makes me look a lot younger than I am. I was picked for one of his hair shows since my hair always looks so good. I can't say enough about Bruce, I just LOVE HIM!

I know it sounds exaggerated when I say "the best ever" but in this case it is true and I wanted to share my experience with Augustine at the Phoenix. I was looking for a deep tissue massage as I never bother to book anything like a swedish massage. For me, massage is therapeutic and there is no reason to have one unless you are looking for body work that will make a difference in how you feel. Any swedish massage I have ever had was a waste of time and money.

I am also savvy enough to know that a real deep tissue massage isn't always pleasant and doesn't necessarily feel good while it is happening. Augustine did the deepest work I have ever had, and while it did hurt while it was happening, I felt 100 p;rcent better when I left the Phoenix and I am now going to be a weekly client. I have been with him 3 times now and the difference is extreme. As an athlete, it is hard to grow old and still stay in shape enough to engage in the sports I enjoy. I expect Augustine will help me with this tough endeavor. If you have similar issues and can withstand the pressure he doals out, you should book with Augustine. By the way, he's an interesting person too with some interesting stories to tell.

I've had a few facials in my time(!) but it wasn't until Kim G was recommended to me by a friend who goes to Kim that I had the most exhilarating facial experience. It was virtually spiritual! Every pore in my face was thoroughly cleansed and my skin glowed as it was now able to breathe completely uninhibited having had all the pores freed by Kim's "magic" fingers. This young woman knows what she is doing! The skin on my face felt so invigorated. Kim, keep doing what you are doing! I'm totally hooked and I'll be returning to you again and again. You have a client for life in me! Bravo to you, Kim! Ten stars to Kim. You earned every, single one of them!

Since coming to Phoenix Salon and Spa I have found the service impeccable. I appreciate the phone calls to remind me of my appointments not to mention the low parking fee when I drive down there. I have my hair cut and colored by Bruce Dubois who is extraordinarlly exceptional. He is truly professional, down to earth, and highly respected in his field.

I just returned from my appointment at Phoenix Salon and am TRILLED! I decided to cut my hair and donate it to Locks of Love. Based on recommendations from Citysearch I decided to go to Phoenix and let Jillian cut my hair. I was impressed from the moment I walked in the door (from the friendly receptionist to the tea and calm atmosphere). Jillian took the time to discuss my hair cut and since i was getting a lot cut off (over 10 inches to donate to Locks of Love) really appreciated her taking this time. She did a wonderful job with the cut and styling. It was a great experience and I highly recommend Phoenix and Jillian. Great salon, great stylist, and great cut...

My daughter and I recently visited the Phoenix for her back to school and my back to work beauty essentials. Bruce DuBois as always provided us with an excellent cut and highlights. I always receive many compliments after my visits with him. The staff is very professional and friendly and the door to door valet service can't be beat for the price. The environment is truly "spa like" and relaxing and you feel the unique experience of a total beauty treatment. I would recommend this salon without reservation as it is an enjoyable experience to meet your beauty needs.

This was the absolute best salon experience i`ve ever had! My stylist ANGELA, was the best! Would highly reccomend her she took my fried,over-processed blond hair and turned it into pure silk& the most beautiful dark blonde hair color coul`ve imagine. Hands down Bruce is thee best colorist and stylist I have ever known in 45 years!!
I will only trust Bruce with my color and cut. I have been a client since 1990, and I will continue to be a loyal follower of Bruce. I travel 3 hours round-trip and every time Bruce exceeds my expectations. He goes above and beyond taking care of me- in every way, always making sure I have every need taken care of and am comfortable. His customer service is excellent and his retail recommendations are always exactly what I seem to need. Bruce knows beauty: hands down.

I have been with Bruce for a long time. You could not find a better colorist. His cuts are great and he is easy to work with. His suggestions on product are right on the mark. He keeps up to date on all the new processes and products. The Phoenix is very lucky to have him. I also enjoy the salon itself. Friendly, but not intrusive. All around 5 star experience every time I go.

Bruce is God's gift to hair. Genius level cuts and color with none of the attitude. Truly wonderful. I haven't had a cut this superb since I used to go back and forth to NYC to go to a man who apprenticed with Kenneth, who used to cut Jackie Kennedy-Onassis' hair (Phillip Moysen may you rest in peace). Also check out Cati for pedicures. Your feet will thank you for it. The entire place is an attitude-free zone, which is so refreshing in a spa. A wonderful thing that they have is a private room for people who may have special needs and wish to have their work done away from the eyes of others. All around an A+++++.

I recently was told about a great hairstylist in center city named Carlos at the Phoenix salon and spa who has won many awards. I made a appointment for highlites and the brazilian hair treatment. HE is truly amazing my boyfriend loved my hair. The brazilian hair treatment has made my curly hair easier to dry and no frizz. I have been going to the Phoenix for almost 4 years now, I love the atmosphere there and everyone is friendly!! Janine colors and cuts my hair and recently she told me about this new treatment they have called the keratin rx treatment, its like a straightener that is, good for your hair!!! After hearing about it and asking tons of questions about hair damage, (my hair is really blonde and frizzy) I decided to try it. It is pricey, 300.00 for the service but if you call, Janine might have specials on it. Well, I LOVE my hair!!!!, and my boyfriend loves that it doesn't take me forever to get ready anymore!. This stuff is the best!. If you have frizzy hair you will love it too!! And you can do it the same day as color.

I've been going to Shannon at the Phoenix for over a year now. After every visit I always think about writing a review, but until this time, just haven't had an opportunity. I have had my hair done at some of the top salons both in Philadelphia and NY, and can say that Shannon is an absolute find. I have never left the salon without loving my hair color - I get compliments continually. Her cutting is also amazing. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a new stylist!

5 Stars: Had a Relaxing and Therapeutic Deep Tissue Massage with Ike at the Phoenix (by caseysw)

I had a 90 minute massage yesterday afternoon with Ike at the Phoenix and it was wonderful. I had been experiencing some shoulder and neck pain stemming from a neck injury from several years ago, and had been a little tentative about having someone work on me with my fragile state. I explained that I did not want any work done near my neck but wanted a full body deep tisse massage to relax me and to loosen up the other muscles that have gotten tight from living with the pain. Ike was great! He was very careful about doing anything that might aggravate my condition. The massage for my shoulders really helped, as well as with my lumbar spine area. He completely stayed away from my cervical spine as I had requested. He worked on my arms and legs, hands and feet. He then spent quite a bit of time doing some relexology work on my feet which was awesome. I fell asleep during part of this it was so relaxing.

I also mentioned that I was suffering from PMS and he worked on some specific pressure point areas targeted for PMS and hot flashes. I had never heard of this before and had not enjoyed pressure point work before as I thought it had hurt. This did not hurt and seemed to work well, and now I am thinking about making this a monthly routine.

He ended the session with some very relaxing words that put me into a state of relaxation I don't remember ever being in. I was told to imagine a pink light entering my body one area at a time, and when he was finished, I felt wonderful. There was a sound of water flowing and some beautiful music in the background. There was nothing uncomfortable about being massaged by a man either, and everything was very professional. This therapist is really knowledgable about his technique and I am looking forward to my next session with Ike.

I was not thrilled with my same old look so I went to the Phoenix for my color and was booked with Bruce who the booking desk told me was one of the best hair colorists in Philadelphia. They were right and he lived true to their word. Not only does my color look better than ever, but it was done in less time than I have ever spent. While Bruce's prices are expensive compared to some, iI feel that you get what you pay for and it is worth every penny since I look great and my hair will need less maintenance over the next year or so. Bruce used some kind of "express" color application to do my roots (this took only 5 minutes and I just layed with my head over the sink, as opposed to my usual singel process time which seems forever!) and then he proceeded to do my hightlights and lowlights.

I had asked for a sunny summer look and to go a little blonder than usual just for these few months. I also wanted some contrast that I didn't have before. It looks fabulous! His co-worker, Alex also did a great job with my styling and drying and was as pleasant as could be. When she washed my hair and applied a protein conditioner, I didn't want her to stop as the massage felt so very good. The salon is beautiful, the people are nice, and the valet parking is a plus since I was driving into town and planning to spend the whole day on my hair. I ended up having some nice extra time to do shopping and enjoy the beautiful day. I can't say enough about Bruce or about the Phoenix and was happy to write this review on behalf of Bruce to share my experience.

I've been going to Kim for over two years and I highly recommend her for facials and waxing. While bikini waxes are never painless, Kim works fast and is easy to talk to, so the time goes by quickly. She also whipped my overplucked eyebrows back into shape.
Kim also does amazing facials, especially the purification facial. I swear there was not a single blackhead on my nose when she was finished. Even my husband commented on how bright my skin looked. Kim also suggests quality products and I never feel pressure to buy anything. I trust her recommendations and have never been disappointed.
I also get my haircut by Janine who does a great job managing my disobedient curly hair.
I have always been happy with the services at the Phoenix--5 stars from me!

I had a wonderful experience! First of all, they were able to push back my appointment at the last minute when I got stuck in traffic! When I finally got there, tired and cranky, the reception staff was welcoming and offerred me refreshments while I relaxed on a very comfy sofa. I had a massage with Ike and he was amazing. Before we started, he identified what was ailing me, and customized a massage just for me. I had a combination of Swedish and Deep tissue massage, stretching and guided meditation. He was soothing and gentle, but precise and professional. I left feeling like a million bucks. I would highly recommend him and the Phoenix to everyone.

I have tried a number of places since moving to Philly two years ago, and Kim is the only one for whom I would take time out of my crazy day to review on this website, in the hopes that more people go and see her. I've been twice now and each time she listened to all of my concerns and took them into account, instead of brushing them aside and doing her own thing.
The second time I really needed a new cleanser because my routine just wasn't working. She didn't push products on me; she recommended one new cleanser as per my request, and it works great. My skin looks so much better after seeing her. I would recommend her to anyone!

I had 2 vibraderm facials here with Ali and after the second one, have never gone back. My first complaint is that I let them know that I would be using the 10% coupon from citysearch when I booked my first appointment and the receptionist confirmed that it was noted in their system, but it was never honored. I forgot to mention the discount when paying for my first facial and subsequently emailed the spa the same afternoon, but no one ever responded. The first facial itself was good, prompting me to return despite the discount error. I brought up the issue at my second appointment but was told that I could only use the discount on my first visit. Not wanting to argue, I just let it go. Second complaint: Ali is very nice, but I left the treatment table after the second facial with a face COVERED in clay. I understand that it is dark in the treatment room, but there was a significant amount of the clay mask that she used left on my face. It's a good thing I had to use the bathroom afterwards and was able to painstakingly remove the residue with a dampened washcloth, otherwise I would have left the premises with a ton of white crud on my face. Third complaint: the receptionist who worked there at the time was unfriendly and barely acknowledged me and said thank you. My visits to Phoenix were just the beginning of my spa experiences (the first facial I had there was only the 2nd time I'd ever been to a spa), and I was actually naive enough to think "oh well, this is as good as it gets." Now I know what going to a spa is supposed to be like and recommend Eviama and Terme di Aroma over this place.

I recently had a Keratin Straightening Treatment with Angela at the Phoenix, who with the help of her assistant, Jill, spent several hours on my hair to cut down on my styling and drying time and to take out the frizzy dryness I always have had. While the treatment itself took more than 3 hours and cost me $350.00, I am so happy with the results. I now spend about 15 minutes drying my hair where I used to spend close to 45 minutes on a good day. I also spent more money on a weekly basis to get professional styling, and will save that money doing it myself. It was uncomfortable not being able to wash my hair for 3 days, or even to be able to tie it back in a ponytail or put it behind my ears, and taking a shower was a challenge, but the 3 days of suffering was well worth the result.

I had japanese straightening done several years ago at a salon in the suburbs, and was left with damaged looking hair, that while straight, looked awful and i couldn't wait to grow it out. Angela explains that this new Keratin treatment not only improves the quality and health of the hair, but is made of only organic ingredients. It looks and feels great, and several of my friends are planning to do the treatment before the summer so they don't have to worry about their hair. It also works on highlighted and colored hair with no problem, something that Japanese stratightening does not do and my prior stylist forgot to mention until after i complained about the damage.

I plan on having the treatment repeated before the summer, and will by that time forget how gross it was to not be able to wash my hair for 3 days. Kind of like having a baby, you do it again even though it was unpleasant because the result is worth it.

I would like to caveat this review with the fact that I went here a year ago. I am in the midst of looking for a new hairstylist because my girl is moving. Anyway - I was looking around citysearch and saw the Phoenix, show up at the top and it made me mad, because I had THE WORST highlights done here. They TOTALLY botched the job by pressing down on the foils and causing the color to run all over the darker sections, they tried to fix it but it still looked ridiculous (and since it was on the back of my head, my friend had to alert me as to how awful my hair looked). I spent $200+ for the highlights and a cut (way more than I have spent anywhere else in Philly). I have been getting highlights for 13 years, and this is by far the worst my hair ever looked. Another salon ended up fixing my highlights, because I don't trust this salon anymore.

I was at Phoenix Salon and Spa this weekend for Locks of Love. Everyone at Phoenix was fantastic!! They dedicated their time and skills to take over 40 of us from long hair to short and fabulous. My stylist, Amelia, did an amazing job, and I would definitely recommend any one of the stylists that was there on Sunday. We all look beautiful!

I went to the Phoenix Salon and Day Spa over the weekend with a group to donate our long hair to Locks of Love. It was sad to part with my hair, (I donated 10 inches) but my stylist, Shannon, made sure that I got a great cut and that I was completely satisfied before I left. We had a wonderful time, and I am planning on switching from the salon I currently go to, and start going to the Phoenix! It's easily accessible from SEPTA, or if you want to drive, you can always park at 16th and Spring St, where it only cost $5!

The massage therapists at the Phoenix Salon and Spa have been such a help to me in the last several months and I need to share my experience. I have been to several of them as I am a Phoenix Condominium resident and have been suffering with a chronic herniated disc related pain cycle. I get down to the Salon/Spa whenever I can and book with whoever I can. The fact that they are open 7 days a week is helpful as is their location in the building.

Ike is wonderful for his deep tissue and energy work. By describing what he would be doing he was even able to get me to try the energy work despite the fact that I am usually the person in the yoga room who is looking around during the meditation time wondering what everyone is doing.

Krista is excellent for deep tissue and myofascial release work. I had been to another myofascial person in Paoli who was good but much rougher than Krista. She seems to understand how to do it without going uncomfortable deep. The release of the connective tissue surrounding the discs and spine have helped a lot. She even came to my condo one day when I was having an especially difficult time and worked on me there. She has a kind nature and is very talented.

Eric is also great. He has worked on me at least three times, doing deep tissue once and then doing Reike-- another experience I thought I would never have. During the session, he barely touched me, but I left the 90 minute app't feeling like my spine had been cleansed. The pain was gone, even if temporarily.

While I continue to struggle with my pain issues, and continue to seek advice of doctors, my goal is to avoid surgery and these massage therapists, in conjunction with my trigger acupuncturist, are helping me so far achieve my goal.

I was really excited for a new hair cut after growing my hair for over a year and a half to donate to Locks for Love. I was a little scared, however, to really cut off about 14 inches of hair, since I got attached to it as well as the ability to throw it up in a pony tail, etc. So I went with a group to the Pheonix hair salon and my stylist, Carlos, was absolutely wonderful! He worked with me to find a style that fit my face shape and really made me look beautiful. I'm happy for this whole new look as well as chance to help charity, and I think the Phenoix salon and spa is a great place to go to just feel renewed!

Great short haircut by Angela. Friendly service. Highly recommended! The lovely people at Phoenix Salon and Day spa offered their time and services to cut and style th hair of PCOM student's that donated to locks of love. The practically closed down the entire salon and worked for free! All of the stylists really cared about the end result even though they weren't getting paid.

Phoenix Salon participated in a "Locks of Love" event this past Sunday and many stylists, hair washers and staff dedicated their time, effort and talent to make this event a success. Not only did we all feel wonderful about giving our hair to a charitable organization for children and adults with all sorts of hair loss, but each stylist catered to us individually and with distinct skill and dedication. The event was extremely well run and I have to commend the owner for being so unselfish in donating her salon and her stylists for this valuable cause. I would definitely go to this salon in the future, not only for a hair cut, but also for all else that they are known for, massages, manicures and facials.. It is also in a great location and I recommend this salon to everyone.

My friend was the contact because she was the one who recommended me. It was only her second time and obviously my first, so how would either of us now about these "top stylist" charges when it was not mentioned on the phone. Had the price difference of each stylist been discussed and clarified over the phone, we would have found a different solution. I believe that a great way to solve this problem is to make charges c l e a r BEFORE the service is done so the customer does not feel tricked in the end. Like I stated before, it was a great cut, and that is why I paid the extra money because it was exactly what I asked for, but next time I would like to know before hand. And although this "top stylist" has great skill....customer service, friendliness as well as sociable skills are also wanted for this complete package of a top stylist. Whether the stylist is having a bad day or not, it should not be taken out on a paying customer. Like any salon and spa, it is all about the experience.

Jillian Anderson did a fabulous job. I LOVED MY HAIR!!! After having a horrible experience with other stylists, she put me at ease by taking time in explaining what she will do to get my hair healthy again, and her work supported her statements. Jamie washed my hair and I felt so relaxed as if I got a massage when I was done. The salon is very nice and I love the discounted valet parking.

I was just at the spa today for a facial. On the website it list the "Phoenix Facial" as $80.00. To my suprise when the very unfriendly host/cashier gave me my total after my facial and it was $95.00. I mentioned the website list the price as $80.00 and she said the price went up in the New Year for 2008 and that the price goes by years of experience for the facialist. Now, I have heard about that for a hairsytlist, but never a facialist. So bacially they can make up any price and don't tell you it until the end of your service. Which is ridiculous!!

Secondly, my appointment was for 1:00 p.m. I was told to come 10 minutes early. I didn't even get called seen until 1:15 p.m. If you are going to charge top dollar, then you should be on time. Also my treatment was suppose to come with a paraffin hand treatment or eye treatment designed to refresh tired eyes, well it's doesn't. I asked about it when the host/cashier rang up my bill. She said no. I would not recommend this salon for the price.

The locks do not work in the locker room, so hopefully you don't mind dragging around your purse with you.

Overall, I would not recommend this place at all.

She is big personality in a little package. Smart, fun, loves to debate topics, will always enjoy discussing the dynamics of family and will remember your boyfriend's or sister's names to ask about them. She gives the best blowdry and her cuts are fun and creative. Dont shy away from her though if you need something a little conservative, she can oblige! Her men's cuts are clean and designed to fit the client. This girl has a following of loyal clients that is continually growing; I am sincerely glad I found her.

Went to Jennie at the recommendation of a friend and from reading various reviews. She was a very nice girl, but now I have the haircut from hell. I am very good with my hair, but can do nothing with this cut. I called immediately to tell them about my bad haircut, and they did offer for me to come back to let Jennie fix it, but why would I want her to cut my hair again when it looks so terrible? They also offered for me to have another stylist cut my hair, but that would make me too uncomfortable. The manager said she was going to think about giving my a full refund -- did you ever hear from her -- I didn't. Don't go to this salon. I should have known better when I went there and there was no one in there.

I had a superb facial with Anne at the Phoenix Salon and Spa this week, and was noticing how great my skin looked over the weekend. Not only were my pores cleaned thoroughly, but I had a glow I haven't seen in a long time. Anne was funny, honest, mature, knowledgable, and skilled. Even when she was doing the extractions, she distracted me with her conversation and it did not hurt at all. Somehow, despite the fact that I needed a lot of extractions, the facial turned out to be relaxing. Her massage technique was excellent, and she made great use of the hour we spent together, never leaving me to just sit with lotion on my face. When I was having the product soak into my skin, she massaged my arms, hands and feet. She recommended the right products for me to take home, and I ended up buying a bunch of other stuff as well because everything was on sale for 20% off of the regualr price. I even got a candle that I love the smell of and some accessories for my hair. The Salon and Spa itself was clean and pretty and the employees and other clients were friendly and nice. I truly enjoyed my experience.

I have been trying to find a place in Philadelphia to get highlights and have been dissappointed everywhere I have gone. I was about to give up but decided to give it one more shot and tried out Phoenix and I'm so glad that I did! It is a little bit pricey, but not much more than most salons in the area, and the products they use and their staff are really unbeatable. Jillian is fantastic! My highlights look so natural and my hair feels healthier than ever. I highly recommend it.

I had a 90 minute deep tissue massage with Krista at the Phoenix last week, and walked out of the spa room thinking it was the best massage I have had since I can remember. While sometimes I do not let the massage therapist touch my head as i don't want to get my hair greasy or oily, this time I had scheduled a hair cut after my massage so I was OK with my head being touched. Krista started off the massage with an incredibly relaxing head massage and then focused on releasing the knots and tension in my shoulder area. I had asked her to focus on this, and that is what she did. She finished off with my lower back, legs, arms, hands, and then the bliss of an amazing foot massage. I felt like a new person............At the end, she instructed me to take some deep cleansing breaths, and this was a nice way to close the session. thanks Krista. I will be back.

I needed an appointment quickly, and scheduled a cut and color with Jillian. She was fantastic! I told her what I was looking for and she gave me her thoughts and offered additional suggestions I had never thought about. It was a long process (the coloring I was having done).. but I didn't feel rushed out. Even the receptionist was friendly and unpretentious. My friend also had a cut with Carlos and loved the result! She looks great! The only con is it was very expensive, but it was so worth it!

This place is perfect! I can't tell you what it has done to my hair and self esteem!! I have never ever ever ever had so many compliments on my hair. Carlos is AMAZING! I took a chance and let him chop off my locks (on his recommendation) and my hair looks awesome! The second time I visited, I put all the decision making for my hair and his hands, and he did not disappoint. I have awesome highlights that I would have never considered before him. I cannot stress enough how talented this man is!! He also convinced me to purchase really nice hair products from the salon, and to go out and invest in some really nice hairdryers and straighteners. Now, at home I can achieve the same look he gives me in the salon!!! However, they are never overbearing or make you feel like you HAVE to buy something. They are great professionals.

Also, on my last visit I met with Kim and received my first wax ever. She did a brazilian and full leg wax in an hour, and made it as painless as possible. I will continue to go to her! She makes you relaxed, talks to you through the whole thing, and makes sure everything is OK. I will continue to go to her for all my waxing needs, and hope to get one of her infamous facials in the future.

All this being said, it is a very expensive salon. I nearly died when I received my bill last time I was there. But the second my boyfriend commented on my silky smooth legs, and everytime I get a compliment on my hair, I know it was worth every penny. GO TO THIS SALON...you will not be disappointed!

I was recently asked when checking out of the Phoenix Salon how my services were (I had a hair cut, highlights, and a manicure), and I told the person asking that I had a wonderful time at your salon and loved the way my hair turned out. She asked that I write a review on Citysearch, and I am happy to do that and share my thoughts with others. This Salon is as beautiful in person as it looks on the web site, and sometimes we all know that is not the case. Pictures aren't always as truthful, especially when they are placed on a web site etc.. The Phoenix is clean and decorated beautifully. The people who work there are polite and professional. The coffee is brewed bu individual cup, and I was asked several times during my visit by various people if I would like to have coffee or water. They even call for your car when you are checking out of your appointment, and the valet parker has it ready for you as you walk out the door, AND IT IS DISCOUNTED!!! This is huge if you are like me and hate to pay for parking in Center City Philadelphia. I only paid $5.00 and had my car there for several hours. What a coup!! I can not say enough about this place, and Jenny who did my hair did a great job. She herself is a gorgeous red head and obviously takes good care of herself. I had no problem taking her suggestions for my changing things up a bit, and getting more blond for the summer. The hair cut was equally as good. The manicure (I forget who did it) was also good, and I think next time I will try to pedicure as there were people having them, and they looked more relaxing. This is a great place if you are in the City, and looking for a place that is as good as it looks.

I went to the Phoenix for a 90 minute deep tissue massage with Krista, and left feeling both relaxed and rejuvenated. She listened to what my issues were, and focused on those areas that needed special attention. I was not interested in having my hair messed up or oily as I did not have time for a styling session after my massage, so she stayed away from my head area, and focused on other parts of my body. I asked her to incorporate some stretching into the massage, which she did, and my arms and hips were stretched beyond what I could have done myself, yet without pain or over exertion. I especially enjoyed the hand and foot massage. I left feeling relaxed, and the areas that I was experiencing pain felt much better. She was both knowledgable and kind natured, and the massage was well worth my time and money. I will be a return client, and look very much forward to my next treatment with Krista.

I went to the Phoenix for my appointment with jackie with hair that was way overdue for cutting, and color that needed a "pick me up." I left with a very chic new cut and with highlights that not only brightened my face, but that gave me a summer look like no other I have had. Erick's calm nature and knowledge of the muscular structure of the body, combined with his knowledge of the mind, makes for a wonderful 90 minutes of relaxation and rejuvenation. I have had the pleasure of having several massages with Erick, and I always leave feeling relaxed and healthy. He stretches you during the body work, knows when you don't want to chat and make small talk, and gives you pointers for at home care. I have several issues that need to be addressed on a weekly basis (shoulder pain, sciatic pain) and Erick has been instrumental in helping me minimize the pain I am feeling all the time. while it is time-consuming to go to a spa and spend an hour or more on the table, i have found that the time spent is well worth the trouble. If you are looking for more than a "foofy" massage, you need to see Erick. Thanks

I've been looking for a place to get regular pedicures and after one at the Phoenix, there is no reason to look any farther. The spa is lovely in every detail, the staff is friendly and professional and most important, my feet look absolutely fabulous. It's also a convenient location, on the north side of Center City in the elegant Phoenix Hotel. The pedestrian concourse that connects the Phoenix to Suburban Station is right outside the door of the spa. A great experience in every way.

I found out about the phoenix salon from citysearch. I went there to get a wax, it was my first time getting a brazillian and it was a great experience. My waxing was with Kim, she did a fantastic job. She was extremley friendly, made me feel very comfortable. The waxing was fast and maybe not pain free.. but it was well worth it. I am never shaving AGAIN. She also did my eyebrows and also was great at that too. I couldn't be more pleased.

I had a pedicure at the Phoenix with Rebecca and then traveled for a week, hoping that it would last and my feet would look great while in the islands. Not only was the experience great (freshly brewed coffee, valet parking that they validated for me, friendly people, and great retail items), but the pedicure has lasted way longer than what I am used to. I will no longer waste my money by going to the cheaper nail place around the corner from my office, and will regularly visit the Phoenix. I also purchased a great lip gloss and a great gift for my secretary. My only complaint is that they had QVC playing on the TV, and this isnt exactly what I want to listen to when trying to relax. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an upscale salon in the city.

I am a new customer of the Phoenix Salon and just had a haircut and facial last week (Amanda did the facial and could not have been more pleasant, and jenny cut my hair and did a nice job despite the damage I have from straightening). Not only were the services wonderful, but I was able to enjoy the nice holiday decorations, and the fact that they took the time to put them up. The smell of the salon and the decor put me right in the mood to relax, and to think about the season. Everyone is busy racing around shopping, working, and worrying about how to get everything done this time of year. My recommendation is to go to the Phoenix, treat yourself to an hour of something for yourself, and then to get back to the chaos of life at this time. I did it, and feel a whole lot better. I will take this time for myself every once in a while whether it is the holiday season or not. One more thing...... the cookies and the brewed individually coffee is a nice touch!

I am a regular client of the Phoenix Salon, and was approached recently by one of the massage therapists who offered me a free chair massage while I was waiting for my hair appointment. At first I wasn't sure about sitting on a massage chair in the middle of the front area of the salon. But after a few minutes, I was relaxed and tension free (he just worked on my neck and back). I couldn't believe the difference it made in how i felt. I booked a one hour massage appointment a few days later and regret that I have not made this part of my regular schedule in the past. Not only did I feel relaxed and rejuvenated, but i was told how to follow up by Eric in terms of after care and stretching. I will now go to Eric regularly and thank the Phoenix for introducing me to this service.

I orginally posted my disappointment with my haircut at the Phoenix. The haircut did not look anything like what I wanted or the pictures I brought in. HOWEVER, immediately after seeing this review, the salon owner contacted me to try to resolve the issue. She was accomodating and extremely concerned with my disappointment in the service. Although I was not happy with the haircut, the fact that the owner took the time to try to resolve the issue showed the high level of customer service this salon has.

I went back for a corrective haircut with Valerie and she did an awesome job! She gave me tons of advice on how to care for my hair, and the cut looks great. I would highly recommend her!

I love this place for an after work, pre-party night out. I stop in and get a blow dry and then a make-up application (I love their line of make up and have never seen it before the Phoenix). then, I hit the streets and have the time of my life, looking and feeling great. I think the prices are good, and I am happy that I have found this treasure of a salon.

My experiences at the Phoenix have been nothing but excellent. I started going to this salon about a year ago, and have slowly tried most of the services they offer. I started with my hair, and am extremely happy with the several color treatments Jackie has given me. My highlights look great, inf act I just got a few lowlights to change my look a bit for fall. While I have always strived to have a blonde look, I now have a little more contrast in my hair and this has brought me several compliments. The waxing services are also excellent, and the facials are relaxing and thorough. May gives a fabulous pedicure, and I am going to try to get a massage the next time I am in. Last week when I was having my hair done, one of the employees offered me a free chair massage that relieved some of the stress in my shoulders. I am now ready to jump in and get the whole thing, and do it for a full hour. I would recommend this salon and spa to anyone.

I've been going to the Phoenix for the past several months for my waxing and I really can't say anything bad. Everyone is great. Kim is wonderful. She really makes my brazilian wax a breeze. I mean no one looks foward to getting waxed, but Kim makes me feel so comfortable and at ease, she's funny too...and she's really quick..thank goodness!!! She also does a fantastic eyebrow wax..she takes a little longer than usuall but its completly worth it...not a strand hair insight! The front desk is great too.. very proffesional. I would reccomend Kim and the Phoenix to everyone.. they are extremly friendly and down to earth.

I tried this salon twice since it has great reviews here and it is very close to my office, and I was disappointed both times (so-so manicure and a bad eyebrow wax). For the eyebrow wax instead of going into a private room like every other salon I've been to, she had me put my head back in the shampooing sink and waxed them there! Needless to say it was uncomfortable for my neck and my hair got damp in the sink.

I am very skeptical of all these glowing reviews - they all seem overly positive and there are so many of them for such a new salon. It is very clear that management reads these reviews since they have responded to all the negative ones, and I wouldn't be surprised if these were not all written by customers.

I have had my 3rd in a series of Vibraderm facials with Ally at the Phoenix, and more people remark about my glowing and healthy skin than I would have ever imagined. This is a non-surgical treatment that is not only affordable but relatively pain less other than a few moments of being uncomfortable, and it is well worth it. The face lift will have to wait! This is the place to go if you are looking for not only a great haircut, but a blowdry that will last for days despite the rainy weather. Shannon trimmed my long hair and made it straight, with the dryer and it has lasted despite the rainy weekend. Not only was I prepped for a Thursday night out, but I was fine for Friday and Saturday night as well. The service was not too pricey and I felt it was well worth it. Shannon also recommended some great L'Oreal products for me to take home, and I had been looking for a place to buy this shampoo and styling creme. I will return to the Phoenix time and again.

If you want to look great, go to Jennie at the Phoenix Salon and Spa at 16th and Arch Street. I now believe that Jennie is this City's top hair stylist and I am lucky to have discovered her.

Not only is Jennie personable and easy going, but she happens to be one of the best hair stylists and colorists I have ever met. I had been going to NY City for my hair for the last several years, was caught in a crunch last week, and didn't have the time to visit NY for a day. I had heard about the Phoenix from some of my colleagues at work, and decided to give it a try. In fact, one of my friends had won a gift certificate at a fundraiser event and had tried it out a few months back. She had come back to work looking fabulous. Not too much of a different look, but enough that she all caught us off guard with a new style and color, and we were thrilled for her.

I will now not only save money on my hair cuts and coloring by skipping the trip to New York, but I will save the time off from work (a wasted vacation day) and the train fare. Thinking of what to do with the extra money, I have decided to try some of the Phoenix's other spa services-- perhaps a massage and a facial or perhaps a pedicure?? My next day off will be with Jennie and then some additional time in the spa, and I bet I will still come out with a few bucks in my hand. Sorry New York, but I am now a Phoenix Philadelphia gal.

The Phoenix is a great salon for men. From the haircuts which are priced well and quick, to the shampoo girls who give a great massage, to the 1/2 hour facials that make a difference that lasts for weeks........ I was even talked into a pedicure (my first one ever) and it was wonderful. May did not make me feel strange about having one, and when I asked for the TV on so i could watch sports while enjoying the foot massage, it was not a problem. The front desk check out was quick and courteous, and the valet parking was certainly a plus. I was offered coffee on my way in and it was freshly brewed with a smile. There is nothing I would not recommend about this place, and i was happy to write this review and to share my experiences at the Phoenix. I will continue to be a regular client and to recommend this conveniently located salon to all of my friends and colleagues. Thanks Phoenix!!

After a day at Heaven Spa the Heaven Spa staff suggested we make an appointment at Phoenix Salon (as we were all going downtown for dinner), for Hair styling and color. Well this Salon is superb also. The place is lovely and the stylists did a great job on all three of us. I am a regular client but wanted to share my recent experience as a bride using the Phoenix Salon & Spa for my bridal party. I have been a client of Jennie Boyer's for 6 years, (followed her from Pierre & Carlo) and Janine cuts my husband's hair.

From the very beginning, I had an exceptional experience making hair and makeup arrangements for my bridal party. Our wedding was held on a Sunday (the salon has Sunday hours), but we had so many people to accommodate that we needed an 8 am start. April, the salon's coordinator, contacted several members of her staff and found stylists willing to open the salon early for us. We had about 11 ladies and children who needed either hair or makeup services (several, including myself, required both). We were in at 8 and out by 10:30 am (exactly on time).

Everyone's hair and makeup looked fantastic. Despite 94 degree temperatures and high humidity (ironically we married during the one weekend this summer where the heat was unbearable), no one had a hair out of place. I have very thick, wavy, frizz-prone hair, which Jennie pulled back into an elegant looped low chignon. At the end of the night and without a single touch-up, my hair looked every bit as perfect as it did when I left the salon that morning.

Everyone's makeup looked natural and also lasted throughout the day. The salon uses Nouba cosmetics, which had very flattering shades and tones. Ali Tepper did a lovely job on my bridesmaids and me while Carlos made my mother look glamorous (he's Best of Philly for good reason).

The prices were competitive for the area (I paid $125 for my intricate updo but the bridesmaids were half of that), and the service was wonderful. The stylists were very friendly, and my sister in-law remarked that she wished Jennie lived in NY, because her hair had never looked so good! I'm so glad we used the Phoenix. It was the perfect start to a special day.

The last haircut I got was here at the Phoenix. The staff was incredibly friendly and I never behaved snooty at any moment- something my friends and I have noticed about certain upscale spas and salons in the Center City area. It is great to know that top quality service doesn't need to come with an attitude and sense of superiority. My stylist was fabulous, although I cannot recall her name and the shampoo/conditioner gals made me so incredibly relaxed while washing my hair which is probably the best part of getting a cut.

I had a brazillian with Ali yesterday. She was thorough and professional and it was actually relatively painless - all in about 25 minutes. Having just moved from SF I was impressed with the short time it took and the price paid ($55 plus tip). I was disappointed to find out they have valet for $5 when I paid $10.50 around the corner. Doesn't that go on the list of things they should tell you when they ask if you've ever been there before and you say "no"? FYI - Tips are cash/check only though you can pay for service with a cc.

I have been going to the Salon since it's opening and I have returned because of the pampering you receive. I am always treated as their most important client. The Phoenix is a first class salon all the way. I am complimented all the time on my trendy haircut and color. I especially love the retail product's they are offering. The staff are all professional and so friendly. I treated my husband to a manicure/pedicure for Father's day and he was so pleased. My 8 yr old had his hair Styled by Carlos and is having fun styling it every morning. The Phoenix is a full service salon for the whole family. I would highly recommend a visit.

I have enjoyed the Phoenix for the last year or so as a regular client for both hair and spa services. It is located so conveniently on top of Suburban Station right near my office. In fact, I don't even have to go outside from Penn Center to get my hair done. The staff is friendly and the services are terrific. The spa pedicures are relaxing, and my nails seem to stay healthy and nice looking for far longer than what I am used to. My hairdresser, Jennie, has done a wonderful job updating my look with summer highlights and a new cut. I am offered coffee or water each time I walk into the salon, and it is clean and friendly. While I mostly book during the week as I work in town, I have visited on the weekends, and was thrilled to find out they are open on Sundays and not too busy to find me a last minute appointment. I am happy to recommend this spa/salon to my friends and to share this review on Yahoo.

My hair has never looked better since I started visiting the Phoenix Salon in Philadelphia. I get a wonderful scalp massage with my wash, and then enjoy exquisite hair services each and every time I have an appointment. Carlos is not only experienced, but has an eye for style and makes recommendations for change, and when he has finished with me, I look and feel great. At my last visit, I inquired about changing my make-up, and he spent the time to give me a fabulous make-over with NOUBA make up. I bought my products, and now have a 15 minute look every day. My friends at work are raving about how nice I look, and most of all, I am thankful to Carlos for making me fell good about myself. He is not intimidating at all, and just works to try to make his clients look and feel good. the Phoenix is lucky to have him.

How this Salon won any awards is beyond me. I went there last week for hair styling and for Spa services. Their idea of a Spa is three small rooms with a massage staff that must still be in school. never had a worse massage. The facial was just as bad. Phoenix opened up next to my apartment a year or so ago and I was thrilled that I didn't have to trek to Center City or Old Town for a nice salon. I've had a lot of services there, but the outstanding person to me is Kim. She is adorable, friendly and does the best eyebrow waxes in the world. I had ruined my brows after a few trips to walk-in places in New York (before I moved to Philadelphia) and she patiently and professionally helped me grow them back in.
I really can't say enough about her - she's truly gifted. And as of July 2006, her eyebrow waxes are only $20. She does a great facial too. Ally is great too, but I really connected with Kim.

One issue: I got my highlights done and was going to return a week later for a haircut. The highlights were about $80 I think, and when I went to pay, they told me then that if I had gotten my haircut at the same time, it would only have been an extra $10. SO, I had to pay for the full price haircut a week later. That was annoying. I am not saying not to go, but just remember to double check this if you do get highlights.

The salon is very luxurious and relaxing - zen meets beverly hills and the people that work there are friendly. They must be doing something right - stylists from all over Philadelphia's top salons are flocking there. The waiting area keeps filtered water and cookies for guests, but I've never had to wait too long. The rooms are very comfortable - padded tables, dim lighting and soft music.

And you must treat yourself to a pedicure. And it is a treat at $50 (the last time I checked), but the chairs are heavenly and it is an amazing pedicure.

They do have valet parking (through the attached apartment building) which the salon validates, but it's not free (it's $5 or $10 before tip) and it is annoying that they are parking right in front of the salon. But if you have to drive, it is a relief not to have to look for street parking.

Go to Ally at the Phoenix for a thorough, relatively painless, no-nonsense and never embarassing brazilian wax. I had my first one in the beginning of the summer and will never go anywhere again. Ally makes it a pain free experience in all senses of the words. The only problem is that she is usually booked and I have to make my appointment well in advance. It is worth the planning. And by the way, the salon itself is beautiful and very professionally run. I am always greeted nicely at the front, offered coffee or water, and when I leave I am reminded to make my next appointment. Calls to confirm are also a huge plus for those of us who tend to forget appointments.

My boss got me a gift certificate to this tucked-away treasure in Center City, and I treated myself to 1 1/2 hours of bliss with a manicure and a spa pedicure with May. I had never had a pedicure before, and May explained everything she was going to do as she went along---- I almost fell asleep in the chair. It's a beautifully decorated spa.....but it's PROFESSIONALLY missed matched! I've been there on several occasions. On my second one, the shampoo girl was coloring hair, but on my next visit, she shampoo my hair for my stylist. I saw a hair stylist waxing eyebrow.....I thought esthetician does that? I hope that the next time i go in, the manicurist is not going to "color my hair", and the cleaning lady does my massage. When you pay so much for your service you should get a stylist specialize in that area. Colorist does color, shampoo girls shampoo, manicurist does the nails, and esthetician does the waxing Etc. But it is a beautifully design spa though.

What a great find! I was looking for a new hair salon, and after reading reviews decided on this one. The atmosphere is calm and clean, and every staff member I encountered was exceedingly corteous and professional. My stylist consulted with me before my shampoo, and again once I was in her chair. She communicated with me throughout about what she was doing (and actually listened to what I wanted), which helped to put me further at ease. My cut is probably the best I've ever received - I will definately be back, and I look forward to trying more services here.

I had a wonderful experience at the Phoenix. I was referred to the Salon by the concierge staff at the Four Seasons Hotel, and walked over for my hair and nail appointment. Shannon is skilled and efficient, and fun to talk to. I enjoy her stories and her candor. For the last 20 years, I have been going to Lauren in Strafford who is terrific, but it was a hassle to get there for a haircut, and because I work in the City, I was limited to the weekends for a haircut. My wife is even thrilled with Shannon as she has been working on my eyebrows as well-- something I have never let anyone tamper with. I highly recommend Shannon for Men's haircuts.

the Phoenix serviced all of my needs in one day and I was very happy with the results. It is a little pricey, but well worth the extra dollars for the services I received. I was paying $12 for a manicure and I was charged $20 at the Phoenix, but it was a much better service, took longer, and I think it will last longer so I will not need to go so often. By the way, my manicurist was May Lynn. Next time I will try the pedicure and get my hair done.

The Phoenix is a beautiful hair salon and spa right in the center of the best part of the City. I have enjoyed my services there and continue to enjoy my purchases. It makes for a relaxing day to sip a latte at Starbucks at the Phoenix, enjoy my scheduled appointments at the Phoenix Salon and Spa, and then meet friends for lunch or Happy Hour at Tir Na Nog, all in the same building. I travel for work 5 out 7 days therefore; my boyfriend purchased the Total Relaxation package gift . I was greeted with a pleasent smile from Toni at the front desk and could not believe how quiet the waiting area was. My stone therapy massage was awesome by Timonthy, while Theresa revived me with the herbal wrap. Ali was terrific, that was the best facial I had in years, and how could I forget the way my feet felt when Mylynn finished. And Hair, my look was so old and now I feel that I can do anything with the haircut by Angela. And to top it off my make up, Carlos introduced me to Nouba cosmetics that I had to have. Overall I truly enjoyed my day here, and it is true that you remember the people that changed the way you look to a fabulous YOU!

I was at the Phoenix today for an event they hosted offering free make-overs by the artist that represents Nouba Cosmetics, and was so thrilled with the application I received that I bought all of the recommended products. I am hoping that I can apply the make-up the way the artist did, and will supplement my purchases as time goes by. I did want to try some new products and was happy to have the advice of a real make-up artist. While I had to wait a bit for my appointment, it was worth it.

I had a very mediocre facial at the phoenix, despite all the great reviews and ratings it has received. Allthough I paid for the deep cleaning facial, all I got was exfoliation, moisturising mask and some heated-stone aromatherapy eye mask that smelled like rancid truffle butter. The girl who was doing it managed to get exfoliant in my eyes twice (and that is a very stinging and painful experience), and the extraction part consisted of her putting on rubber gloves, staring at my face and taking them off. To my knowledge, she did not involve telekinesis to purify my skin. And finally, almost half of the time was spent with her mixing up potions and masks.
Overall, not the best experience, especially given the price tag! You can get much better service in terms of both spa atmosphere and good cleansing elsewhere!

I am very comfortable coming to this Salon for all my services. I have my hair done here, as well as my waxing, and there is never any level of uncomfortableness. The technicians are professional, and always prompt. I am happy to pay a little extra for the high level of professionalism and convenience to my office. I am a regular client at the Phoenix for my facials, and I go to both Kim and Ali who are both excellent. I bought a series of Vibraderm treatments and my skin has never looked better. The treatment itself is not as uncomfortable as a regular microdermabrasion (like ones I have had in the past). And the results are much better. I would recommend this treatment and both of these estheticians. They also make great recommendations for at-home products.

Finally, a salon and spa in downtown Philadelphia that services everyone. I am a regular customer of the Phoenix and a building resident in the Phoenix. I will recommend this business to both city residents and out of towners who are looking for a good place, with good pricing and a varied menu of services. It is not uncomfortable to go as a man, as there are usually several others there, and they even cater to men in their retail area. I have been buying the Crew products and they are excellent.

This hair salon is one of the few in the city that has Sunday hours and I appreciate being able to get a quick haircut or massage on a sunday when I am in the City and off from work. The ONLY down side of the salon is that I have tried to book a massage appointment on a Sunday and they are all booked up. It would be nice if they had additional therapists on call to accomodate Sunday clients. I live in the Phoenix Building and sometimes it is just nice to walk downstairs to get a service done without worrying about an appointment. Otherwise, I am very lucky to have this business at my fingertips.

My office is in Center City and I have now located a hair salon that I can get to directly from Suburban Station without even going outside. I had a great haircut, and will certainly become a regular customer of this salon. My shampoo person gave me a scalp massage that I will remember-- like getting a massage with my simple haircut. The prices were also good.

I had a wonderful day at the phoenix and enjoyed my blowdry, massage, and facial tremendously. I plan on signing up for several more vibraderm treatments with Allie who did my facial. I got so many compliments on the appearance of my skin, and it still is looking great several days later. I think the treatment rooms are serene and beautiful and I felt like I was in a real destination spa, even though I was in the middle of the City.

I am updating a previous review in order to share my experience as a recent bride using the Phoenix Salon & Spa for my bridal party. I am a regular client of this salon as is my husband. Jennie cuts my hair and Janine cuts his.
From the very beginning, I had an exceptional experience making hair and makeup arrangements for my bridal party. Our wedding was held on a Sunday (the salon has Sunday hours), but we had so many people to accommodate that we needed an 8 am start. April, the salon's coordinator, contacted several members of her staff and found stylists willing to open the salon early for us. We had about 11 ladies and children who needed either hair or makeup services (several, including myself, required both). We were in at 8 and out by 10:30 am (exactly on time).

Everyone's hair and makeup looked fantastic. Despite 94 degree temperatures and high humidity (ironically we married during the one weekend this summer where the heat was unbearable), no one had a hair out of place. I have very thick, wavy, frizz-prone hair, which Jennie Boyer pulled back into an elegant looped low chignon. At the end of the night and without a single touch-up, my hair looked every bit as perfect as it did when I left the salon that morning.

The prices were competitive for the area (I paid $125 for my intricate updo but the bridesmaids were half of that), and the service was wonderful. The stylists were very friendly, and my sister in-law remarked that she wished Jennie Boyer lived in NY, because her hair had never looked so good! I'm so glad we used the Phoenix. It was the perfect start to a special day.

I got my haircut here and it was great (Jen). The place is very clean and stylish. I got my eyebrows waxed; they never looked so good! A few weeks later I decided to get a 60 min. deep tissue massage. The girl didn't even introduce herself, let alone ask me if there were any trouble spots. I felt as though the massage was far from a typical deep tissue massage. Then at the end she left the room for 5 min. w/ a towel over my feet and came back to tell me I was done, ending 5 min. early (10 min. w/o massaging!). I was so dissapointed that when I got home I called them up: they told me that it was part of the massage. To give them credit, they did reimburse me 10% for the inconvenience. Maybe it was just the person who massaged me

What can I say .... It was definitely a positive move for Jennie to the Phoenix! I went to her for at least six years at another well known salon in center city, but the Phoenix is in another class altogether. From the $5 valet parking, to the relaxing atmosphere and high quality furnishings and equipment, professional customer service oriented staffing and scheduling - it's all worth the move!
I was an original redhead, however, the past five years has been getting progressively grayer (or white) and very difficult to cover and color red. Jennie's pesistance, creativity, skill and talent .... works every time. She is a pro as a colorist as well as a stylist. I'd recommend her to anyone and everyone!

I was happy to be invited by a friend who is a client of the Phoenix to a wonderful event benefitting Project HOME last week and felt i should thank the salon publicly. They had a fashion show with models from Project HOME and it was really neat. I left feeling good about myself and these brave women. I also left with a great gift bag with all sorts of great items. I plan on using my coupon for the Phoenix Salon and Spa and being a loyal client of a place that seems to care about others. The best brazillian bikini wax is at the phoenix. Kim is tops....she knows what shes doing. Not only was there not a hair to be found but she was quick! Even though waxing is never a relaxing experience, the conversation and the atmosphere made it pretty painless. Plus they valet!

Just had a super haircut at the Phoenix Salon and Spa, located in the Phoenix Building at 1600 Arch Street. The coffee that the front desk staff offered me was great as well. It was a quick, reasonably priced, and pleasant experience and I will return. I finally found a hair stylist that listened to what I wanted with my hair color and cut! I was ready for something different, but not too drastic, and when i looked in the mirror, I was thrilled. The haircut has proven to be easy to work with and the color has brought me many compliments from friends and strangers. When I asked for a make-up application that made me look natural, I got that as well. The Phoenix is a super downtown hair salon and Spa that is not only convenient to Center City Workers but to those who want to come in on the weekends as well. They have valet parking available, and are right on top of Suburban Station. I don't even have to go outside to get there from my office building 3 blocks away. I just went to the Phoenix spa and was very intimidated when I walked up to the building because it's a pretty upscale looking place. I didn't know what to expect because my facial and mani/pedi were a valentine's gift from my boyfriend. I went in and had the phoenix facial with allie which was wonderful and then a manicure and pedicure. the nail salon was the cleanest, most sanitary i've ever been to. they used brand new nail files on me on my mani AND pedi. i thought that everyone in there would be snobby and stuck up, but i was pleasantly surprised because everyone was so down to earth and friendly. i can't wait to go back again!

I was very apprehensive about trying a new place. After reading some reviews here, I made an appointment for a haircut with Jennie. She talked with me for 15 minutes about what I wanted and it was perfect. She even showed me some great tricks to keep my new bangs swept to the side. I have long, pretty straight hair that she cut into amazing layers that even manage to sit nicely in this morning's rain.
Overall the place is beautiful and they aren't very pushy about products. It's a little on the higher end price-wise, but in my hair experiences, you get what you pay for.

I have been going to the Phoenix since it opened last Spring, and am happy to have a salon near my office where I can go during the day if i get a break, or in the evening after work. I can park right at the building with the valet parkers and feel safe when I leave at night. Not only do I have the best haircut I have ever had, but i am able to maintain it with ease. I don't know what color line they use, but my highlights have never looked better. I can also grab a last minute gift on my way out and I have purchased some great jewelry for myself. The people who work there are friendly and it is clean and comfortable. Great coffee too! I recommend the salon to everyone I know. Please keep up the good work.

I am getting married in the Spring and am planning my bridal party at the Phoenix. Working with April to plan everything has been terrific. She is on top of everything, and has been a huge help in decreasing my stress levels. Of course, I want everything to be perfect, and have 100% confidence that it will be. We are going to have a special lunch party catered in their Phoenix Club, and then move on to all of our services. I recommend doing the pre-bridal make-up and hair so there are no surprises. I am so pleased with how we all will look and am happy that I found the Phoenix to take care of all of our needs. I will look forward to posting another review once my big day has passed.

I have had such wonderful experiences at the Phoenix, I thought i should share my thoughts with other men. I found the spa on CitySearch and was impressed with the reviews. I work in the City and have been looking for a place where i would feel comfortable going. My back wax was excellent and I had a great haircut and color. they have a special service room for men who would like a little more privacy, and don't want to be surrounded with people watching them in the chair. I had my highlights done at the Phoenix and all of my friends including myself love my new hair color. Phoenix Salon and Spa is a beautiful place and provides professional services. Right after my arrival I was served with a delicious coffee and cookies. I had been getting bikinni waxes for years but never loved the experience that I thought I could make the jump to a brazillian bikinni wax. Ali made me feel so comfortable. She worked quickly that it felt like it was over before I knew it had began!!!! Instead of using cream and baby powder which always makes me feel like I need to take a shower she used an oil that she told me contained Lavender and Tea Tree to soothe the skin and kill the bacteria. After the wax she gave me a hot towel something I never had a bikinni waxer do. This made me feel so clean I could go on with my day.

I just had my highlights done again at the Phoenix and I am so thrilled with the results. The first time Natalie did my color and I loved my highlights. It took so much less time that what I had been used to. I didn't have to sit there forever under the dryers like I used to. Natalie wasn't available the second time I went in and I was nervous to try someone else after being so happy with Natalie, but Carlos was just as good and again i love my hair. I just want to share this experience with anyone looking to get good color results. I don't think you can go wrong at the Phoenix. They know what they are doing.

The Phoenix Salon and Spa is fantastic. The atmosphere is great, and everytime I have a service done there, I feel like I am on vacation. When I arrive, I am greeted, and offered something to drink. I am impressed that I have never had to wait for my appointment, as the staff is so punctual. This is important to me, as I need to schedule appointments around lunchtime. Karlos does an outstanding job in both coloring and cutting my hair. He is a true professional, and knows his business. The manicures and pedicures are amazing - my feet feel brand new after a pedicure! I can't say enough about how pleased I am with the Phoenix, it is exactly what Philadelphia needed.

I was treated to the salon as a gift from my sister. We went together on a Saturday. It was an incredible experience. Everyone was so pleasant and attentive. I felt like a queen for the day. My experience at the Phoenix was excellent. I have long hair and a lot of it. I have been in for haircuts and blowdrys many times and I am so pleased with the results and with how I was treated. So many times, I have been to other salons and the stylist was annoyed with having to blow dry my hair. At the Phoenix, they suggested that I have the japanese straightening treatment and I no longer have to battle with blow drying my hair myself. It is so much easier now. The salon is clean and the front desk people are so nice. The Powerdose treatment I was given left my hair feeling healthy and the conditioning treatment lasted for months. And never before have I had such a relaxing and thorough shampoo- it was like having a massage. I will recommend the Phoenix to all of my friends............

The Phoenix Salon and Spa provides the best services I have received in the City of Philadelphia. The services are comparable or better than the best in the US and in the world. The spa services rival those at Canyon Ranch in Tucson, and the hair is better than any I have been to in the country and outside. The front desk personnel and very friendly and customer service is obviously important to the management. The decor is relaxing and beautiful and the selection or products and retail items is excellent. i even found hanky panky thongs there. It is a great experience and also very convenient. I use the valet parking and it is discounted for customers and right outside of the door to the salon.

Phoenix Salon and Spa is a really nice Philly spa to go for a full range of services. They do a really great job cutting and styling hair, and their manicures and pedicures are hard to beat. I am always so pleased with the finished results when I come to this spa. All the staff is very friendly and experienced. They provide excellent customer service and want you loving what you see so you will come back again and again. Parking is not a problem.

I've recently relocated and tried The Phoenix based upon the consistent "highly recommended" evals it received on citysearch. Excellent decision! The trendy salon is calm, smells great (like an Aveda heaven, not like hairspray & cigarettes). The helpful staff is quite happy at their jobs. I got an excellent consultation from Jennie who cut my hair into a new style that not only looks spectacular but is easy to manage. At my request, she recommended THE BEST hair product I have ever used. You have to be prepared to spend a pretty penny, but feeling great and looking like a million dollars when you leave (and can upkeep at home too) is SO worth it. Jennie was easy to talk to, and she listened to me about my hair and gave me a mature and yet pretty do, and I can't thank her enough. I highly recommend this salon too.

I followed an employee from another spa to Phoenix and boy am I glad I did! It's clean, mellow, and everyone is very friendly. French manicures last a full week with Maelynn and my hair never looks better than when Angela and Shannon tend to it. April and the other girls at the front desk are genuinely friendly and it's such a treat to be warmly greeted when you visit. Parking on the street can sometimes be found, and if not there is valet right out front for $5. Top quality in Philadelphia - without pretentiousness!

It's difficult to find a place where they cut your hair the way YOU want it. Reading the great reviews, thought I'd check it out. The place is clean with a beautiful decor and environment with a very kind and helpful staff. They were quick to offer me a beverage as soon as I walked in. I got my hair cut by Jackie who listened to how I wanted it cut and followed through. I was very pleased with the outcome and will definitely be going there from now on for my haircuts.Afterwards, I had a facial done by Kim who also did an amazing job, she explained everything in detail. Extractions were unpleasant, but expected. My skin feels refreshed and rejuvenated. I'm glad I finally found a place I can go to for salon and spa treatments. I highly recommend the place and look forward to going back again.

I've had very bad skin for a long time and I've tried everything, I was reffered to the Phoenix for a facial with Kim from a colleague who has been going to her for a long time. It changed my skin completly! Not only did she listen to my frustrations she also took her time to explain what was going on. I got a deep cleansing facial and my skin is really starting to turn around. I loved everything! Go see Kim for a great facial!

I had Kim do my brazilian the first time and Ali the second. They were both great! I'd recommed asking for Ali - she gives you a warm towel to clean up with!

I have been to the Phoenix twice now and I can say with ease Kim is the best waxer I have found in Philadelphia. She is fast and so easy to talk to, I actually don't regret getting a brazilian wax. What a beautiful salon/spa. Relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, immaculate, I could go on and on. What a great experience I had! I have been there twice already. My first visit I had a salt srub, hot stone massage, foot reflexology, mini facial and scalp massage, This was truly the works! Well, well worth it. My skin never looked or felt better, my patients at work actually commented on how nice my skin was (this has never happened before). My hat goes off to Kim G. and the staff at the Phoenix, I look forward to many more visits:)

This new spa was amazing. The decor alone left me breathless. It is gorgeous. The staff wasvery pleasant and along with being knowledgabel. Took very good care of me. made sure I was accomodated in any way they could. I will DEFINATLEY return. 2 thumbs up!!!!1

I am new to the area and was happy to find that the Phoenix Salon had open just down the street from me. I had an appointment for my hair with Jackie, she ACTUALLY listened to what I wanted and gave me a great cut and style. Can't wait to go back for a spa service. The spa is really beautiful.

I work across the street from the Phoenix and we all were patiently waiting for the spa to open, well it was definitly worth it! It is beautiful, one of the prettiest spas around! I got a brazilan bikini wax and facial by Kim.... She did a fabulous job! Carol gave me a great manicure and pedicure! I was completly relaxed! The whole staff seems so happy and proffesional.....I would highly recommend it!
