I thought I'd give this place a chance since it was a Chinese hair salan and I'd had good experiences at other chinese hair places. The woman that I got was Dita, a blonde European lady who was very nice. However, she did not know what she was doing!!

I asked to have my hair cut 1 inch, instead she cut it 2-3 inches with not a scissor but a razor blade-comb thingy. She then put gel in my hair before blow drying it AND then put WAX in my hair (she says to keep frizz down).

What I walked out with was a helmet head, half wet hair, sticky and stiff from the wax and gel. I was so upset. One side of my hair was also longer than the other. I had to wash my hair TWICE when I got home to get the stuff out of it. It was so nasty.

I'll never go there again and will never tell anyone else to.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Woman did not know what she was doing

Being Asian-American in Pittsburgh isn't easy, what with the mostly bad asian food around salons that give me the same exact layered haircut every time. When I saw an ad for Lin's hair studio in the Strip, I was at first excited, then hesitant. Were they any good? Would I wind up with crazy J-pop hair? I finally decided to try it, and was very, very pleasantly surprised. Lin is a very sweet lady who paid a lot of attention to detail and knew how to handle my asian hair. I love my new haircut! It fits my personality and is exactly what I've been wanting but didn't know I wanted. Highly recommend.

Pros: Great haircut for a good price, English- and Chinese-speaking

Cons: Parking (you know the Strip)
