Even though we have not been to Greg's for many years (we sold our last Volvo at least 8 years ago), he and his staff are some of the most knowledgeable, professional, and courteous folks that I have ever dealt with in the auto repair/ sales business. They are a smaller operation, work diligently to help you, and have that friendly, small-town way of knowing not only your vehicle, but take time to get to know your best automotive needs.

If and when we acquire another Volvo (and they're knowledgeable about other make/ models, too) we'll definitely be back.

I Purchased my s80 from fleckinger and was very happy with the price and the condition of the car. since then I have been back for a few minor adjustments and they have always been very friendly and helpful. I would do business with Fleckingers anytime.

I Don't usually write reviews but I have to in this case. More of a response to the review in which a person was told to fix it himself.

I have been dealing with Flickingers for years now.
While I would say that Rodney's experience is unfortunate (if true) I have to say I find it a little hard to believe.

First, as others have said this shop will bend over backwards to get you in. Especially referalls. I have referred several friends to them, and they get in as soon as possible. The bottom line is that business is built on repeat customers, Greg is a smart enough guy and he knows this too. Everytime I have been in that shop customer service has been priority. I would guess that rodney had his car towed in and never called to let them know it was there or what it was there for. Did you know that a mechanic can't work on your car without your permission.

I have to say that I can see the guys there telling you that you needed a repair. That is why you had it towed in right? then you probably left it sit in the lot for a week and then called, and then you tell them that you are going to take the car elsewhere because you disagree with the mechanic. What are they supposed to do clear the booked appointments for you. You clearly didn't want to do business in a courteous manner.
You then consulted another mechanic who sight unseen was able to diagnose your problem and tell you what repairs you needed. At that point anyone with common sense would have just taken the car where they felt comfortable.
This story has more holes in it than anything. By the way are you aware that there is only one other mechanic in York county that has the level of Volvo knowledge and expertise as this garage? trust me you don't want to pay his fees. How your mechanic if he existed could have known the damage is staggering. I would like to meet him.
You asked someone to make a repair that was unsafe, and risk his repution and inspection license and thereby his entire business and were then surprised when they refused to do so? Really?

I have purchased four vehicles from Greg, my family has purchased several more, my friends have purchased them too. all of my families work is done at this garage, and I have never had any problems with anything.
Oh, I thought I would save this for the end too, this will blow your mind.... I am an african american. so there goes that argument. I guess I get all my good service because of that?

Sounds funny right, I get good service because I am african american seems ridiculous, but when someone says they were treated poorly and mentions his race the assumption is clear.

I'm going to agree with Bill K. My father has also been in the business for years and is a difficult man to please, but he has sworn by Flickinger's for over 30 years.

Greg and his crew bend over backwards to fit you into their schedule, explain what is wrong with your car, how they plan to fix it and what it will cost.

As a woman I have always felt comfortable interacting with Greg and his entire staff - they are friendly and kind and explain my repairs without being condescending.

You do your dad proud, Greg. Keep up the good work.

Greg and Chris are awesome and never have taken our family across over the 40 years we have used Flickinger's. Greg's Dad, Bud, started the business and earned my father-in-law's trust. This is a near impossibility as my father-in-law was a mechanic in his younger years and a very tough customer to please. They never have treated any customer disrespectfully and genuinely care about their customers and keeping costs down. I have often brought my vehicle to them after having a wheel alignment or oil change elsewhere where I was told that x or y needed repaired at exhorbetent prices. When I took it to Flickinger's they inspected the situation and said everything was fine. They could have lied also and just did the repair even at a cheaper price but were honest and sent me home a satisfied customer. Thanks Greg and Chris keep up the great work you are well known for. It is a shame that race is brought into discussions of any kind just to be hurtful, I know you guys are respectful of everyone regardless of race, sex, etc. I've seen you in action and the posters comments are simply an outrageous lie.

I was initially recommended to Flickinger's by an officer who helped me with my car when I hit a curb in York Haven. I had the car towed there by Lovejoy's (who by the way was a stand up businessman and I would recommend his towing service to anyone) and they told me that it would take them 7-10 days to look at it. Well 14 days later when they finally did look at it, they told me that I needed a new suspension, sub frame, a wheel, and two tires and it would cost me a minimum of $1700 to get it fixed by the following week. One of the mechanic's there, Chris made it clear that he didn't care to have my business by simply saying "It wouldn't hurt my feelings if you took the car out of here." Either way, I left it with them but after speaking to my mechanic, he told me that a sub frame replacement was unnecessary because he saw that the frame was slightly damaged on this Volvo. So after asking them to do everything accept the sub frame, they refused and told me to get the car out of here and even laughed when I inquired why. They simply said we have paying customers and since you want to tell us how to fix the car, your black ass can fix it yourself. So, if I were you, unless you want to be "up sold" unnecessary repairs, or just would prefer to be racial bashed, I'd find a more professional place.

Business Response:

Unfortunate Miscommunication Flickinger's Auto Service prides itself upon quality and honest repairs. Flickinger's has never discriminated against any customer and fairly treats all. As owner of this business, I make it a point to discuss any recommended repairs, explore all options, and never"up-sell" unnecessary parts or repairs. I have been in business for over 20 years and have a loyal and much appreciated client base. In this particular case, the damage to the vehicle was so severe that a partial repair would have rendered the car unsafe to operate. The customer's numerous requests to replace only some of the parts were unacceptable. The customer's mechanic did not evaluate the vehicle while it was at our shop and could not have known the extent of the damage. After I, not Chris, attempted to explain our reasoning, I finally refused to do a shoddy, incomplete job. I requested the customer remove his car. It is unfortunate that this gentlemen believes race was an issue. We were only attempting to do competent work that meets our standards and upholds our reputation. We highly value our customers and attempt to be as forthright and professional as possible.
