Very good, recommend taking your time, bring your appetite, but don't over eat--you will regret it the next 1-2 days. The meat sits heavy in your stomach. Be choosy, some meats are much better than others, stay off the cheap stuff

Went with a group of friends, food was amazing. Salad bar was load with anything you could want, it was so fresh and delicious. Service is great you never have to wait just flip your disk to green and they come right over. Best advice I can give is don??t fill up on Salad bar, even though it??s so tempting. It??s on the expensive side, but if you??re going out for something special or have the money to blow? this is the place to be.

I went there for fathers day with a group of about 15 couples. The salad bar was very impressive and the roasted meat was exellent. The food never stop coming and the service was great. This so far has been my best dinning experience ever. I have not stop talking about this restaurant since fathers day. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone who never been to this place. It is worth the trip and the money, the parking may be bad but I think that it`s worth the experience; this place is just that good.

My family enjoyed our second dinner at Fogo, Center City Phila. last evening. The service is exceptional, cuts of meat are outstanding, "salad" bar is fresh and delicious, atmosphere and decor beautiful. Just a phenomenal dining experience.

Pros: Everything

Cons: Nothing

Impressive Brazilian BBQ. You pay a lot, but also get a ton of food. The sad thing is seeing a lot of obese Americans eating themselves to death at the table (.... than you wonder why pay a fortune for personal health-insurance?)
At any rate, everything was good, but I ended up dropping ~$170 for a dinner for two after the movie...a bit steep, isn't it?

Pros: great salad bar

Cons: I never spent less than $85/person

Get ready to EAT! Non-stop beef, chicken and pork. A great price ($50) for all you can eat meat. Great salad bar too. A great environment to take a friend and chow down.

A Brazilian steakhouse that's so good my mouth is watering right now. The only thing better than the variety of meat is the amazing salad bar. It is a more expensive place, but it's prix fixe, so you know what to expect, and it is well worth it for a special occasion.

Went for my birthday back in August. All I can say is "WOW"... This place is the epitome of EXCESS. First they have you dig in to the salad bar, which is loaded with all kinds of fancy stuff, in addition to salad. Being the meat-iterian I am, I wisely passed on this distraction and flipped my disc to the green side, while my wife decided she would have a plate or two from the salad bar. Within moments, crazed cowboys that spoke little english began galivanting about, carving off slices of roasted meats at a frantic pace. Tempting sides and rolls were also brought to our table and constantly refreshed, even if we only took a little spoonful. Wife saw that I was in too deep and bailed on her salad to get into the action. I can honestly say she enjoyed herself, and once we figured out which meats we liked and which ones to pass on, we continued to gorge ourselves until pain set in. Wife backed off after a few rounds and flipped her disc over to the red side, as she is much smaller than I. I however, continued to eat through the pain, reaching the point of perspiration - a phenomena I call "the meat sweats". It was only then I reluctantly flipped my disc over to the red side. After such a feast, there was certainly no room for dessert, and if you do have room for dessert, you are cheating yourself.
Now, this is one of the costliest dinners we have embarked on, however, you can really get your money's worth if you FOCUS. At $48/person, its not for the faint of heart, so be smart and pass (or go light) on the salad bar, and instead focus on the prime cuts of meats. At first, they will try to tempt you with tasty little sausages and chicken pieces. You must be strong and hold out for the filet, top sirloin, and the ancho, which is kinda like prime rib. Dont be afraid to ask for more and for God's sake, if your favorite cut of meat hasnt come around in 3 minutes, ask for it, dont fill up on sides! Also, bring a bottle of water for the walk/ride home... Its alot of sodium!

We went here with a huge group of friends and none of us was disappointed. The food is very good, meat selection is endless. Yes it is not cheap and kind of noisy. We were noisy ourselves. And we had fun and enjoyed the food and the company. Recommend it for large groups or family outing.

Pricey great Funnnn!!! Classy so dress to impress...i wore a dress and i fit in perfectly.
Food was delicious, salads were amazing and wine was great too.
I swear the servers were magical. Running everywhere to serve you. If your wine glass was low, it was filled, if you wanted meat prepared more they remember and come back in a few.
Worth every penny. We came to celebrate a big event and for 5 people and about 2 bottles of semi-sweet wine i think bill was in the 400s.

This is my son's absolute favorite restaurant. Every year he goes for his birthday with his dad and five friends. The boys love to see who can eat the most meat. The food is very good and much more than you can eat. Fogo also has a huge salad bar for people that just aren't huge meat eaters.

this place is amazing. I love to eat. If you love to eat you have to try this place. 15 different types of meat served and carved right at your table. You can't leave here hungry, you may need help walking after the meat overload you have.

Excellent place for meat lover !! All the meat are cooked very well.
There is a salad bar for ppl who dun like to eat meat that much. The smoked salmon is good. dun forget to give it a try. Even tho it's expensive, but it's worth it considering the amount and quality of food.

This place has a lot to offer. I went with my parents who had been before so I was warned about the amount of meat one can consume there. So I opted for the salad bar. The salad bar was the best salad bar I have come a crossed. It more than just your average salad bar, it features high end fresh ingredients. And for those who don't love huge hunks of beef but are not quite vegetarian the salad bar offers smoked salmon, salami, and chicken salad with large chunks of chicken. It was wonderful and the staff was great, but you are constantly being interrupted, which I didn't mind as much but can be a problem. even if you order the salad bar you will still be bought out hot sides, like mash potatoes, fried plantains, and polentta.

On Wednesday, March 19th, 2008... I had the pleasure of meeting a friend for lunch and I chose Fogo de Chao. My friend loves meat and I love veggies. We were both excited about trying someplace new. Upon arrival, we were immediately seated and told of the ordering process. Everything was deliciious and in abundance. The wine was great and you can't get better service and not be royalty. We felt truly catered to and spoiled.. treated like Queens for the afternoon. We decided to come back again for dinner to really enjoy the beautiful decor. I recommend this place for family dinners, dates, business meetings or any group that loves to EAT!!

Dear Patron below who has commented on the lack of vegetarian options -
I would like to remind you politely the salad bar they have at Fogo.
Might I add that I am a meat eater.
But that was the most grandiose, beautiful, closest-to-being- the-size-of- a-football-field salad bar I have ever seen in my life.
Just the sheer size of it is intimidating, yet inviting - the omnivorous may complain that it's a scam by the management to offer up a salad bar so wonderful and not passable so that the people would eat less meat (but knowingly still eat the salads because they are that good).
Seriously, Philadelphia Fogo de Chao has the best salad bar ever, and while I loved their meat too, it is their salad bar that brings me back more often. During lunch, yes, but still. And it's not just lettuce and tomatoes - they have hearts of palm (those things are expensive these days), artichoke, beet, etc. - generally more "upscale" salad selections - along with the likes of different pasta and potato salads.
That salad bar alone could have fed an elephant.
And you say there wasn't enough?

this location allows a great atmosphere for business and personal dinners. the 18 selections of meat paired with the large salad bar allows you to indulge freely in what ever you choose. I have been to 6 other brazilian steak houses in other cities and fogo always outperforms. I recommend making reservations.

Cons: all you can eat if that's a bad thing

Interesting concept, it?s an upscale Brazilian steak house buffet. I figured that we can?t go wrong for picking something on Chestnut Street in center city. That was a mistake. We had the worst services from our two waiter/waitress. They acted as if they had something better to do than being there. Both didn?t even bother to look at us when we are talking to them. They would ask how we are doing and before I could answer, they would start walking away and I?m talking to their back. Why even bother asking? Their timing is completely off. Both would interrupt us constantly when we don?t need anything, but when we needed them, we sat there forever waiting for them. Beside our waiter/waitress, the other staffs are terrific. The salad bar was great and the steaks weren?t bad depending on your taste. I personally like the lamb chop, pork rib and house sirloin.

Our mistake was going on a Monday night. As the old saying goes, the best waiters/waitresses usually work on the weekend. The rookies get Monday nights. For $180 including tips, we were expecting better services. We should have taken our money down the street to Brasserie Perrier or Morimoto for a better dining experience.

I wasn't sure how to dress but almost anything is fine. People were dressed in everything from jeans to little black dresses. The waiters are EXCELLENT! They pulled out our chairs and were very attentive. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday because he loves steak and this was perfect. You can't get more manly than steaks on giant skewers. And they try to cook each skewer so that you have every "doneness" on each skewer. From bloody to well. And if they don't have what you want on their skewer they'll go get it! I was a little scared of the salad bar because things weren't labeled and I am pretty picky. But overall a wonderful experience and we will definitely go again!

Me and my boyfriend had the "buffet", and one drink each and I think our bill was about $140.

You can't please all the people all of the time, but the vegetarian reviews lead me to this thought:

The logo says Brazilian Steakhouse, Churrascaria

Main Entry: churrasco
Part of Speech: n
Definition: a South American method of grilling meat on a wood or charcoal fire, esp. in Argentina and Brazil; also, a dish of food cooked this way
Etymology: Spanish churrascar 'to scorch, singe'
Usage: cooking.

I would go here for lunch, because I wouldn't get my money's worth at dinner. But I'm not a vegetarian. Two or three of the slices they bring around is enough for me. My friends and I enjoy these places because we've been to Brazil. We used to go to the restaurant called Samba, but it closed.

I went here this for a Friday night dinner with a group of six. I have to say that I haven't had a dining experience like this in quite a while. (I would definately recommendgoing with a large group of people, going as a couple would be a little overwhelming for this is a fun and interactive dinner.) The salad bar was great, everything from cheeses to prosciutto to heart of palm. There was an unlimited supply of sides that get replenished through out the meal. The extensive wine list was very impressive. Then there were the disks-RED for ' Stop, I'm STUFFED!' and green = Bring on the meat! The gauchos come with their sizzling screws of meat and carve it tableside according to your preference, not rare enough? They will go back and specifially grill some up for you. If you don't see the cut that you want, you can request it and within minutes there will be a smiling gaucho at your side! The only down side that we encountered, was that my boyfriend accidently had a slice of meat bounce off the table onto his shirt while, being served. Immediately there was a shout wipe provided and the manager rushed out with several options as to how they were going ot handle the situation. He offered to pay for the dry cleaning with cash- he gave him his business card, stating that if the stain doesn't come out he will replace the shirt. Although it was a little set back in our dining experince, the level of customer service was impeccable more then enough to accomodate the incident, handled, I must say, better then some of the best fine dining establishments here in town. I wouldn't recommend it for people who want uninterrupted alone time, bc here's its you and about 15 gauchos! Now that's customer service! Two thumbs up from this girl.

I don't eat red meat, but I was invited to the restaurant with a group of co-workers. You can order ONLY the salad bar, and believe me... there is PLENTY to fill up on there! Asparagus, hearts of palm, roasted red peppers, cheeses, and many other selections. It's also all you can eat. Yum.

Our visit was a fantastic experience. The food was flavorful. The waiters were always ready to help in anyway that they could be of assistance. We brought our two year old and she was treated like a princess. the staff worked to make her time their just as enjoyable as our. This was surprising for an "adult" restaurnat experience. We will be back!

I was a first time diner at Fogo last weekend. Unfortunately, I will not be back, and I won't be suggesting Fogo to friends or family. The salad bar is pretty yummy, but there isn't enough substance offered to fill those that are non-meat eaters. The meat serving waiters rush at your table so quickly, that you don't have time to enjoy the meat or the experience. The side dishes are less than average, offering guests watered down bland boxed mashed potatoes. Our check overcharged us by $60. They were happy to fix it, but it did take quite a bit of time to straighten it out. All in all, this is not a place that I will be visiting again.

I'm not much a steak eater but I went to Fogo anyway for the experience. I absolutely loved it!!! The lamb there was the best I had ever had; it's worth going for that alone! I loved the salad bar and tried not to fill up on the carbs they push on you early on. The ambience and decor was great. I take my red meats well done and whenever someone stopped by and I asked was any well done meat available, someone came right back to my table within 5 minutes (most of the time within 3). Everyone was so polite and attentive; the service here is fantastic. The creme brulee and coffee after dinner were good as well.

I know it's a steakhouse, but not being a steak eater, I always find that steakhouses have the best seafood and chicken dishes. There are no seafood options here and one of the two chicken dishes is wrapped in bacon. Also, I like my wines slightly on the sweeter side of Pinot Grigio, but right now they only have one type of Riesling. Maybe one day... But in the meantime, I will definitely go back to this place.

Pros: Lamb, Red Meat Variety, Service, Ambience

Cons: Parking, Non-Red Meat Variety

Another foodie introduced me to Fogo de Chao and with a large appetite for beef, I ventured out on my own for lunch. To go for the first time, the lunch hour is the best (not open on weekends), because it is not too crowded and the cost is half (at around $26). I found that not only the meat was of amazing quality, but the staff made the restaurant experience absolutely wonderful. I eat only rare and it seemed that every gaucho knew that before coming to see me. I'm fairly particular about food and the meat was perfectly rare on one side, yet I had all off the flavors on the other side...the best of both worlds.
There is never a time where you are left waiting for anything. You are not assigned to one server so a multitude of servers are milling about and more than happy to get you anything you need, without any act of being pained to do so. Attire wise- at minimum during lunch, you can wear jeans, though it would be best to be dressed very well with those jeans (ie. no t-shirts, more so a button down shirt). For dinner, it is a little bit more posh, I would wear the black pants, but ones that stretch. It is a brilliant place to have a first date.
Favorites: the 3 versions of the sirloin, the filet mignon, and the flan (as an ex-pastry chef--flan had perfect texture-thick and creamy without any semblance of being crumbly and wet).
It was one of the few times I have gone to a restaurant on my own and there was no awkwardness to it. The servers and manager were not only enthusiastic and genuinely happy to be working there, but happy to converse and dispense advice as to their favorite dishes. I put this restaurant on par with Amada in terms of favorite restaurants, but you must be in the mood for meat.

Pros: best service in philly, amazing food, great place for a date

Cons: can be pricey so at least try it at lunch

Last time I went to "Fogo The Chao" was with a group of 8 couples. I've been there 3 times already and I'll be back again soon. We all loved the experience. We're extremely picky about flavor and other details and this restaurant has everything we're looking for, service, food and atmosphere.

I really enjoyed my Fogo de Chao experience. The Steak and sausages were delicious. The wine list was VERY impressive.
It is a shame that the salad bar was mediocre at best if we compare it to other Brazilian Steakhouses in Chicago or New York.
I will eat there again without a doubt.

My husband and I had the opportunity to dine at Fogo de Chao on the first day they opened for business (in December 2006). Although it's been close to one month since we were at Fogo, all we could still talk about is the restaurant's impeccable service, its great decor/ambiance, and of course, the succulant and tasty food.

While some might think that the staff is over attentive, instead, we believe that the staff's courtesy exemplifies the type of service that is seldomly seen in restaurants nowadays. We were so happy with our dining experience, that we have recommended Fogo de Chao to all of our family members, friends and co-workers.

Our faves: Caprinha (cocktail); the Salad Bar (everything!); Picanha (1 of the 16 meats); garlic mashed potatoes, the fried bananas and the polenta (sides); the little garlic-knot looking breads; and the homemade flan (not part of the prix-fixed menu). Bon Appetite!

Overattentive??? As a Brazilian, my Fogo de Chao experience can be described as home away from home. Brazilians excell in customer service and to us, our service is not overattentive, we are just doing the best to make the customer happy.
The meal was great, the service was excelent and I recommend it to everyone.

The food was good, but the service was overattentive (To the point where I felt uncomfortable being there)
I will not return.

The food is great, the meat were well seasoned and tender. The service was quick, the minute I sat down, someone came and helped me with putting my jacket on the back of my chair, explained to us how the restaurant works and got our order of drinks. The waiters were also quick to come by and fill our drinks and make sure that our plates weren't too full of bones. I like the fact that the chefs were coming with different kind of meats and how the spotted our green disk so quickly. Also, if we prefered something and wanted more, we can always tell someone and the person holding that certain kind of meat will come by. The salad bar had a lot of stuff but I was clueless as to what most of the dishes were, they should put up tags to inform us of what they were. It was a bit pricey but I think it was worth it. This is a great restaurant for all the meat lovers out there.

... well, let's not get into how much I overate!!! All you need to know is that the food at this restaurant was some of the best I have ever been served! My boyfriend is Portugeuse and has been to several churrascurias so I thought it would be fitting to get reservations for us to have dinner at Fogo on Opening Night. Before we were even in our seats (literally!), one of the servers had taken our drink orders - 2 caipiroskas (caipirhnas with vodka instead of cachaca) and the drinks were on our table before we got back from our first round at the salad bar. From the minute we turned our disc to green (which means, keep the meat coming!), there was a parade (not literally but almost) of gauchos at our table serving us filet (my boyfriend said the best filet he had was that night) and other cuts of meat. What was so impressive to me was that this was the first churrascuria that offered different meat temperatures (rare, medium, well done) all one skewer. No waiting for the guy with the rare cuts to come by at this restaurant for you rare lovers. Make sure to ask for the black beans, rice, and yucca powder (meat can be dipped in this for more flavor) as side dishes. They weren't offered to us at first but one of the extremely attentive servers offered the dishes to us throughout our meal. All in all, I ate entirely too much for me to even breathe comfortably, which says alot about this place. Come with an appetite for food and tasty drinks. Also, comparing this place to others like it that I have been to, the price is just right for what you get. Other churrascurias charge close to $30 but the ~$45 you pay here means brings better quality food and service. Both me and my boyfriend can't wait to go back! I will just make a mental note not to eat the entire day before going the next time around!

Cons: liken it to Thanksgiving dinner - you will eat so much that you will want to take a nap after dining here

This was my second excursion to Fogo, and my how things have changed. Let me start by saying that the food is still delicious and if you are a fan of steak, you will be in heaven. The wine list is varied and the cellar well stocked. What I don?t understand about this place is how it manages to attract such a blue collar crowd? I don?t mean to sound crass, but because of the long wait, the hostesses now hand out pagers (the kind you would see at TGIF and lesser establishments). The crowd now consists of young greasy haired, chain wearing types and their companions in stilettos and shorts. Although the place is quite pricey, perhaps they need to raise their prices to attract a finer crowd. While I think their steak is best in the city, I don?t think I?ll be back until the ambiance improves.
