Don't waste your time here. The manager doesn't even speak English at all. So if you want to complain, don't even bother.

Last week I walked into the store with the hopes of having a nail repaired that cracked below the quick. I was told it would be 8 dollars, I was hesitant that they would charge that much for one nail, but time is money and I was in a hurry. So I begin to get my nail repaired...as we are getting close to finishing, the technician looks at my eyebrows (I have full eyebrows similar to Brooke Shields) and she says "Are you sure you no want an eyebrow wax?" Caught off guard and a little insulted, I replied no thank you, I like my eyebrows full. She replied "Oh you really need to have me trim and shape, then they look real nice" First of all it's okay to ask if I'm interested in any other services, it's NOT okay to insist I need an eyebrow wax, how rude! Since I was not planning on my nail breaking that day I had no cash, so when it was time to pay she was pissed off and gave me a hard time, shaking her head at me. Then to top it all off, my nail broke off 4 days later, what a waste!

Pros: Vacinity

Cons: Everything

The price of pedicure only ($40 at time of visit) is more expensive than the numerous other locations in the city where a pedicure and manicure is $25. The quality was okay - the woman painting my toes messed up quite a few times, but it was all fixed by the time I left. If you do not want to go into Center City, this is the best place in the art museum area, but it may be worth the trouble to walk a few extra blocks.

Today I decided to get a massage. I called to make an appointment for the afternoon. I asked the lady on the phone if they accecpt American Express. She said and I quote "Yeah sure". When I arrived at my appointment I asked again just to make sure if they take American Express. Again the lady replied "Yes, We take American Express". Well When I went to pay, they all of a sudden did not take Amex. I was livid, this is extremely bad business and I feel like I was tricked. I will never go back there again. The manager is mean to her staff and customers. Polaris Nail Salon is a shady business and I would not recommend this place to anyone. This is not the first time I have had problems with this place I thought I would give it a second chance, well was I ever wrong.

First of all, I find the fact that the two reviews giving one star were both on the same day, by a woman who speaks korean... interesting. Someone's holding a grudge.

I've gone to polaris about five times in the last year or so, and each time I've gotten excellent service. I've gotten pedicures all but the last time, when I got a facial - the best facial I've ever had, although they did have me wait with the stuff on my face for what seemed like a rather long time. After waiting, however, the woman I had gave a very skilled, soothing facial that left nary a mark - usually when I've had extraction it makes my skin really puffy. She did a thorough job with just the right amount of pressure, and an excellent arm massage - I felt so relaxed.

As for the pedicures, I've been to at least ten different places in the city and this is the best. They give good attention to detail, you can see the skill with which they file to give a smooth curve to the nail - I've been to places that charge more (than $30, for polaris) and want to get you in and out and don't seem to care. In a plain pedicure, they also give a great leg massage. I haven't gotten a french pedicure here, so I can't vouch for those.

I've been wordy, but that other lady made me mad - these girls have taken good care of me every time. Maybe they were gossiping. Maybe they gossip about me. I don't give a damn, I'm going to continue to avail myself of this place - I don't come to the nail salon for friends, I come to get my nails done.

Pros: excellent pedicures and facials (lady w/ the squarish glasses), very clean

Cons: little pricey but worth it

I was eager to try the nail salon. The nail spa had nice decor and the atmosphere was very soothing.
The lady who took me in was a korean lady who looked around 35 years old.
I guess she did not think I was Korean because she started to talk about me being very picky about choosing the color to her co-workers. She looked pretty new to this industry because her hands were shaking and she had mistakenly frenched my nail with the color i specifically said I did not want. She did not even to bother repainting and layered 4 coats of color.
While I was drying my nail, which it took 25 minutes to dry and mind you it is only meter parking, the lady asks one of her co-worker how much she should charge me and she tells her $8 and and then she tells me in English, "it's $10 for your nails"
They talk bad about you while you are being serviced and they are no professional at all
dont' just the book by its cover.

Pros: they gossip about their clients

Cons: the marble floors

They gossip about the client they are servicing to. IN FRONT OF THEM! I am a Korean so I comprehend their conversations. They gossip and talk about your appearance and you being a picky customer with a huge smile on their face to hide it. I had to walk out feeling disgusted by their custer service.
Please don't go there, they also will over charge you. If they start discussing in Korean upon asking the price of their service, walk out because they're talking about how much to price you.
really... where can i go for a decent service in this city?

I had been meaning to try this place because it opened a few months ago in my neighborhood. I went in the day after Christmas and I was thrilled to see they were open so soon after the holiday. I had with me one of Polaris's 20% off coupons that I saw displayed at the gym I go to down the street. I opted for the spa pedicure. I figured since I was getting 20% off I could splurge a little bit on my feet. The nail person who did my pedicure was gentle and detailed. The temperature of the water that my feet were soaking in was just right. And the massage was so relaxing. They even put money in the meter outside so that my car wouldn't get ticketed. Very thoughtful and helpful. The place is an upscale comfy nail bar in a great location. The Art Museum Area was in dire need of a place like this!
