This is a hidden gem with great beer selection on draft. If you like anything with some heat in it definitely try the chili or pulled pork sandwich they are one of the best I have ever had especially in the city. I tend to venture to the place for quizzo Wednesday which is fun.

Pro: Great food and view with windows. The server are great. Also great happy hour since it starts later.
Cons: Need more patrons.

You can tell that there is heart and soul involved in this bar. I read their website before I went and it appealed to me that this was a bar as far back as the 1940s and that three guys from the neighborhood got together to revive it and deliver to their community. I like the beer best, I think its a great selection. I'm Irish myself and I found a few touches of home on the menu, but with a "new world" twist that will appeal to a wide audience. I went in the evening and the mix of patrons was comfortable - young and middle aged enjoying themselves. I understand that it is a family friendly spot for brunch etc. though which is an asset in the up and coming Gray's Ferry neighborhood. I'd recommend stopping by and keeping the tradition going..

Cons: Little bit off the beaten track

I'd heard a lot of good things about Yello?bar before we went for the first time last night. My expectations might have been a bit high but, then again, all our friends love some of the other cute bar/restaurants in the neighborhood and I?d gotten the impression this was going to be another fun permutation of that idea.

Alas, no. The food was really bad. Not just one item. Most of what we ordered. Except for the curley fries. But, really, curly fries would be really hard to mess up so it doesn't really count if you get them right.

We ordered the shrimp appetizer and the plate arrived smelling like the bottom of lake. In the spirit of being fair, I tried a little bite of one of the shrimp and it was rubbery, tough and tasted even worse that it smelled. We also ordered the crab cake entree and, again, the seafood smell wafting off the plate was so bad it almost made me want to jump out of one of those big windows just to get away from it. This time I wasn?t brave enough to try it but my friend did. He confirmed it was terrible. Presumably it had been deep fried so perhaps we may not have ended up sick but, that hardly seems the point.

And, the poor asparagus. It seriously looked like the asparagus had been deep frozen for a decade, baked until it was shriveled and then drizzled in a tasteless greasy film. I guess it was supposed to be oil.

Well, with all these things wrong, the server took the offensive dishes off the bill but we paid a ridiculous $9 for a quesadilla the ?chef? made as a compensation.

Okay, so the food was bad, the server was nice -if not a bit complicit (I used to be a server so know that your server should be looking out for your food order) ?but the decor! It looks like something from a 3 star hotel. All "matchy" furniture and plastic framed "art" poster prints. The music playing was generic, completely without personality. It might have even been top 40, come to think of it.

Cons: lack of attention to food quality, freshness

Yello'bar is one of those places that got everything just right. They have a small, tasty and moderately priced menu, a dim, comfortable environment and a wide selection of beers from which to choose. The Irish influence is all around you from the owners to the staff to the food, and the view of Naval Square across the street brings the whole experience together. This is the next great gastro-pub of Philadelphia.

This corner bar is a great new addition to an up and coming neighborhood. From the moment you walk in the unique two floor layout and open front windows give you a relaxed comfortable feeling. The second level bar looks down on the first level bar which is a really cool design in itself. The bar is stocked with a vast selection of unique bottled beers and an equally impressive selection of tap beers. The service at the tables and at the bar is fast and flawless. The menu has a little bit of something for everyone and at a fair price. I love the steak salad personally but everything I have ordered has been wonderful. I have also heard that they plan to come out with daily specials here in the near future so keep looking for that. If your looking for a cold beer and good conversation this is your new bar.

Great neighborhood spot. Yellobar offers a wonderful food selection-weekend brunch, lunch, dinner and late night snacks. The beer selection is good with lots of bottles and imported. I liked the atmosphere and decor.we got there early so there were some straggling families but the crowd changed as the night went on. I will be back for happy hour when those big windows will be open
