We had our first experience at Out of the Fire Cafe. What an excellent meal!! The staff was AWESOME! We had a large crowd (13) and were amazed at the accommodating attitude of the entire staff! Thirteen guests and not a single complaint! I would recommend Out of the Fire Cafe for any occasion!

This is our favorite restaurant. The prices are reasonable (not cheap) and the food is always high end/delicious. The servers always go way..way out of their way to make it an enjoyable experience.

Not only is it a good restaurant.. it is a good restaurant in a desert of good food. The options in the immediate area are non-existent.

We eat out all over the country/world and this place is nearly unique because of the freshness/quality of the basic food.

I'm dumbfounded by the 1-star listed above other than the wedding rehearsal, which does sound like a major screw-up. All I can think is that they literally could not deliver their usual quality and had to cancel so as not to disappoint. This is probably the right thing to do in a horrible situation.

We have been a frequent visitor of Out of the Fire Cafe since its inception. We recall eating hummus and pulled pork sandwiches on the "small porch." At the time, that was the extent of their menu! Now they have a dining room and a large deck, which is the best place to eat, weather permitting. We've broken bread here for many lunches and dinners, as a couple and with family and friends. We have yet to have a bad meal. The mushroom soup is heavenly, as is the Cafe Salad with strawberries, pecans and feta and the fillet mignon sandwich. The burger w/blue cheese is a fav, as are the crab cakes and sea bass. I'm not sure how the area survived without a restaurant of this caliber. I always say when we are there, "where did all of these people eat before this place opened." If it's Friday or Saturday night, be sure to make a reservation, and make it early. Enjoy!
PS - We ate here this past New Years Eve and the meal/menu was superb. Jeff (the chef) outdid himself. The meal exceeded all of our expectations!

The first thing I thought when reading the last review is that someone most be jealous, vengeful or otherwise trying to sabotage this restaurant because there is absolutely NO WAY someone who knows anything about food would write such a scathing review otherwise.

We have been going to Out of the Fire since not too long after they opened and everything we have had has been delicious. Their mushroom soup is amazing. The salmon is delicious and the honeyed brie with cranberries appetizer is fantastic, just to name a few.

One of the best restaurants in our area.

DO NOT EAT HERE. Would of given it a zero but there wasn't one. I have been in the culinary field for over 30 years & this by far was my WORST experience . Both my husband & myself are executive chefs. Some of my husband's positions have include Executive chef at one of top 5 private clubs in the U.S.A. He was requested by President Bush to cook at the White house(have pictures if needed) & dean of culinary instruction. We have prepared dinner for Prince Charles & other heads of state. I am a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America & culinary instructor. WE KNOW HOW TO COOK.
Their menu says one thing and you are served something else. Example the menu says JUMBO lump crab meat & you get lump crab meat. for what they charge you should receive JUMBO lump crab meat. The term fresh & roasted should be explained to the chef.Truth in menu laws seem not to apply here.
Our food was VERY over seasoned, over & or under cooked and just plain awful. The man who spoke to us was just plain rude & ignorant (lacks knowledge) he dismissed us as if he was correct. What ever happened to the customer is always right??? He came to the table with an attitude & was confrontational to say the least. We tried to explain to him our background but he wasn't listening. As we were walking out I overheard him speaking to a worker, "If it wasn't right she should of sent it back." Why would I after the way we were treated.Meaning we were in the dinning room in front of other customers who knows what goes on in the kitchen where you can't see, and it probably would of been even worse if that was possible

This was indeed an experience to savor. Food was great - and service excellent. As one reviewer commented already, sit on the deck if the weather permits...the views of the mountains are not to be missed. Ahh, to the food. I had a special entree, Haddock, rice cake and vegetables in a citrus sauce. It was one of my best dinners ever and I have ate in many fine dining places. Ahi Tuna is also recommended. It is BYOB. Please enjoy.

Without a doubt the best restaurant in the Laurel Highlands and within a 25 mile radius. Have eaten there many times and have never had anything but superb food. My only complaint would be the wishy washy coffer.
Keep up the good work

I was very disappointed with the lack of professionalism and the breach of verbal agreement that has been presented to me by this restaurant... I am planning a wedding on Sept. 12th, 2009, which is 5 weeks away from today. I spoke with the owner of this restaurant, Jeffrey Fryer, over 6 months ago on several occasions about holding my rehearsal dinner here on Sept. 11th, 2009. I was assured that this date was reserved for us. I had a meeting with their "new GM" Mason 3 days ago, who discussed a menu with us in preparation for our big day (and a party of 50 people!!)
One day later I received an email stating that they will be "unable to accomodate our party" with no specific reason cited. This is unacceptable and no one has bothered to give me a proper explanation, nor have they returned my calls or emails. I am not sure what type of "business" they are trying to run, but it is certainly not honest or ethical. I will never recommend their services in any way in the future as I cannot trust their level of follow-through and I am now left scrambling to find a new location for a rehearsal dinner less than 5 weeks from my wedding. Please do not patronize this business.

Out of the fire is hands down the very best restaurant on the mountain. Helen's at 7 springs used to be my favorite. Featuring smoked salmon this restaurant has reasonable prices, great service and fabulous food. We had the opportunity to sit at the front table to observe the chef at work. We had the Salmon and Ahi Tuna. Everything was total perfection. Don't pass this place by, great outdoor dining!Make sure you call for reservations on the weekends especially during holidays and ski season, they are understandably booked solid.Remember to BYOB since they do not have a liquor license. This actually makes the experience even better! You have the opportunity to bring in your favorite wine. I know you will not be disappointed. We wish we lived closer, definitely would be a "regular" ENJOY!

Don't walk, run to this spot. They're known for their smoked salmon, but everything we sampled on the menu was delicious. Add to that a terrific view (sit on the deck if it's nice) and great prices. $40 for appetizer, salad, 2 entrees, & 1 dessert.

Over the course of the 3 day weekend that we visited Seven Springs, PA, we made it here twice. From the Seven Springs resort, it took us 15 minutes to reach the cafe. I only wish we lived closer so we could become regulars.

I highly suggest the simply salmon appetizer, their very generous house salad full of lots of delicious things and chocolate lava cake for dessert. Take your pick from the great offerings of sandwiches & burgers served with fresh fruit. I loved the entire menu and would've been happy selecting anything from it.

They are BYOB so bring some wine. They've only been open a year but an addition is in the works already. Once you've enjoyed a meal there, it's easy to see why.
