    As a result of Hurricane Sandy, I came home from a business trip later that week to find over 1.5 feet of water in my basement. Once the power returned and the sump pump kicked on, the water was taken care of, but this was several days after the storm and I needed a tech to take a look at my gas boiler and to light the pilot. I did a quick google search, called Donnelly's and they sent a tech out later that day. Ed from Donnelly's arrived and we headed down to the basement. Ed knelt by my boiler, took one look inside and claimed that he wasn't sure if "by law" he was allowed to touch it. He took a quick peak at my electric hot water heater too. He then claimed he would need to speak to his supervisor. Ed headed to the privacy of his truck and five minutes later returned to tell me that I would need a brand new boiler ($7,200+) and a brand new hot water heater (but that Donnelly's would "throw in" the $1450+ water heater, as though that was not already factored into the price of the boiler).

    I paid the $85 consultative fee and told Ed I would be in touch. I then got in touch with a friend of a friend who owns a Heating/Plumbing company and he sent a tech out within 2 hours. This tech got right to work, made no reference to this "law" that kept Ed from doing anything. After an hour, my boiler was cleaned up, the pilot was lit, and it only cost me $385.

    I am a woman in my early 30s and I live alone. It is painfully obvious to the casual observer that Ed took one look at the situation, thought he had a sucker and thought he could make a quick sale. When Ed presented the initial replacement quote to me, I was visibly upset, but this didn't deter him.

    Donnelly's is quite obviously run on a set of questionable (at best!) ethics and morals. I have spent the last week telling everyone I know of my experience and will continue to do so.

While we appreciate that you were able to find someone to repair your boiler and hot water heater, we still stand by Ed's suggestion to have the units replaced. Water damage to the gas boiler and water heater can result in numerous safety hazards, including bodily harm, property damage, or even death. We believe it would be in questionable ethical or moral judgment to repair the boiler and/or water heater and leave you and your home at risk for further harm. While you may disagree, we stand behind our recommendation. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the Red Cross, and numerous boiler and water heater manufacturers, both the boiler and water heater should be replaced to ensure safe operating condition. Regarding the gas boiler, the PA EPA states, At a minimum, this damage can result in reliability problems. More severe consequences could be fire or explosion. The PA EPA does note There are differing opinions regarding replacement versus repair of flood-damaged heating systems; however, most experts recommend replacement. Regarding the hot water heater the PA EPA states, Whether your water heater is gas or electric, if it was exposed to flood water, the unit should be replaced.     The work done works, but the finish of my lawn is very unprofessional. I.m in my late 60's and don't have the
    money to pay a lawn service to correct their mess. My
    neighbor paid $600.00 less with another company and
    when the brass grows in you will not even know that
    pipe work was done. My clean out pipe is 10 inches
    above the grade and the pile of dirt looks like an elephant
    is buried there. HELP Is there really a MR DONNELLY?

    The work done works, but the finish of my lawn is very unprofessional. I.m in my late 60's and don't have the
    money to pay a lawn service to correct their mess. My
    neighbor paid $600.00 less with another company and
    when the brass grows in you will not even know that

Mike E. and Jake did a great job with the furnace/AC install and hot water install. They were both very patient with my dogs and their bathroom requirements(as some of the work being done was in the backyard where the dogs do, dog things) I am very satisfied with how things went from beginning to end. I appreciate the time spent explaining various asects of the work being done throughout the day. I would definitely recommend!

The receptionist was patient and understanding, especially for a Sunday. The technician contacted me within minutes and was at my home earlier than expected.
