Denny's Beer Barrel Pub

The last time I was at Denny's I decided to treat myself to an appetizer, and I ordered the deep fried pickles. I had never seen deep fried pickles before and now I am hooked! A small basket will run you about $2, and they are totally worth it. I will definitely be going back and ordering these yummy little gems again.

I was excited to finally eat a good burger! On 1-8-09, we ordered 12 wings, ranch Western style, and 3 burgers with fries. After about 15 minutes, we got our wings, and it seemed they were just chicken wings with sauce poured over them. I had one, another in our party had one, and the third person had two when our burgers arrived, about one minute later. Thus, we were all left to decide what we wanted to eat first before it got cold -- wings, burger, or fries.

I ordered my burger medium. I decided to let the wings get cold, they weren't very good anyway. I took a bite of my burger and it was so dry and overcooked, the bun was not fresh. The server returned to the table and asked how everything was. I told her I ordered it medium and it was dry and well-done. She took the burger back and had the kitchen prepare another, which was satisfactory. While I was waiting, I just watched the other people in my party eating their burgers. When my second "medium" burger arrived, Denny's did not prepare fresh fries. Thus, I had to eat my old, now cold, fries. At least the bun was fresher.

The server did not offer to take anything off the bill for the inconvenience. Since nobody had a chance to eat the wings, we took most home. I just threw them out in the garbage. Our table was drafty as well, it was quite chilly and we ate with our coats on.

Denny's is overrated. For an establishment that is known for burgers, you would think they would have it down pat. Would I recommend to anybody else? Not at all.

This place is FANTASTIC!

Their menu is Huge. They have pizza, wings, steaks, seafood, Mexican, Italian, Irish, soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, gyros...

But it's the burgers that do it:
1/3 lb., 1/2 lb., 1-lb., 3-lb., 6-lb., 15-lb., 50-lb., 100-lb.+. I e-mailed to request a 15-pound burger, as my friends and I were coming from Ohio and DC to meet at Denny's Beer Barrel. Denny wrote me back (how often does THAT happen today?). He said he wouldn't be there that day, but he would take care of it. Because I told him what time we would be there, the Ginormous Burger was on our table within 10 minutes of our arrival. Fantastic!

Great service, great burger, ice-cold beer, and multiple football games on the TVs. Fantastic!!
I'll be driving thru PA in the next couple of weeks, and we're going to stay over in Clearfield, just to go to Denny's Beer Barrel Pub!

The food is good but service is slow. Very nice since the remodeling. There is plenty of parking. Good atmosphere and very nice people who work there.
