My husband, an Iraq War Veteran and I own a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer with high mileage, so we understand that issues with our only vehicle will occur.
We were set to drive to Virginia Beach, VA and than to West Virginia on 6/15. Blair??s Automotive said they would have no problem repairing our vehicle in a short amount of time.
My husband dropped off our Trailblazer on the morning of 6/14 and came home to help pack for the trip. He received a call at 4:30pm stating that the car was finished and he could pick it up. I drove him to the garage and waited while he went into pay. While inside he was told that the water pump was being replaced it took two men a few hours to get our water pump out. They also noticed a leak in the transmission cooling line, they had patched it with a hose cover and clamps, and that it would be fine, ??just keep an eye on it?. I followed him home and was elated at the fact that they came through for us at the last minute, I personally wrote them a thank you card that night complementing them on a job well done?
The next day, 6/15, my husband, mother, 2 year old son, dog and myself all got into our car to drive to Virginia Beach. Our car was running great and we didn??t notice any issues.
The next day, While driving I started to notice my car wasn??t properly shifting. Instead it was slipping gears, and the engine was ??revving? every time we went above 30mph. We called AAMCO and they said to bring it in ASAP to run a diagnostic test. We dropped off our vehicle and went back to our hotel. A few hours later, AAMCO called us and said that our transmission was in disrepair and we couldn??t drive it anywhere in the condition that it was in. It needed a new set of gears, pistons, torque converter among other things. They could start first thing in the next morning but wouldn??t have it done until 5pm.
AAMCO explained that the ENTIRE cooling line was rusted and burst, sending transmission fluid all over our engine, burning out the gears. They stated that the line should have NEVER been patched and with how rusted it was, should have been replaced. They showed me the piece of cooling line, which I have in my possession.
Due to negligence, sloppiness, and being lazy, the $202 repair bill from Blair??s Automotive, turned into a $2,586 repair bill from AAMCO. My father and I went to Blair??s and explained what had happened with their repair job. We took the paperwork from AAMCO, the piece of line where it split and their bill from them showing the charge for hose clamps which were used to attach the patch they put on. On their bill it also shows, ??leak from trans cooling line?. We went in asking what they were willing to do to make it right, considering the circumstances. We were only met with lie upon lie upon lie. Including that they showed my husband the line, because he had to wait for the vehicle to be finished. My father, a reputable business man in the area for the last 25 years, couldn??t believe the lies coming out of her mouth, the way she was contradicting herself, and lack of concern for the problem they had created. My father told her that it wasn??t right what they have done to us, and he would be sure to spread the word to everyone in his contact list. The manager of Blair??s came out of the building, yelling and screaming at us that she ??had never heard of him, and she isn??t afraid of his idle threats?. I left in tears, and my father with smoke coming out of his ears. This has been such a set back for us financially and I feel as though if Blair??s will not acknowledge their mistake, hopefully me writing this will prevent it from happening to another family in the local area.

Looking for a place that you can trust will not rip you off? This is it!!! They will take care of you and your vehicle for a very fair price and make sure they call you before they do anything that they don't have permission to do.
