Must be under new, incompetent management. I had been going there for over 10 years and got great cheese steaks. I took my family recently, and after waiting over an hour for our cheese steaks, we found them to be terrible. Very little meat and cheese, and of mediocre taste. Never, ever think of going to this place.

The sandwiches here are terrific and reasonably priced. The seasonings used are delicious and make the sandwiches not your typical chain-type subs. You can call in an order for pick-up or sit down and eat (although you may have trouble finding a place at lunchtime, so go a little early or late). This place closes early, so don't plan on picking up some sandwiches for dinner on the way home from work.

First - the sandwich was quite good, as was the price.

But I simply can't recommend a place where I watched my hot sandwich order finally go on the grill after I'd already been waiting for 20+ minutes ... and not because there was a rush or because the grill was full (in fact, it was empty), but because it was like "Old Home Days" with the woman on the grill. The friendliness is great, and it's nice that she knows everyone, but when you're sitting there on your lunch hour and she'd rather chat with the people coming and going than put an order on a grill that's been sitting empty for 20 minutes ... well, then, the customer simply isn't being treated like they are (or their time is) valued.

Let me be clear. I wasn't looking for "fast food" speed here - I love hometown places, and I make a point to go out of the way to the ones that have taken care of me over the years, even if they take longer or are more expensive. But to wait a half hour for a basic sandwich is simply unacceptable. In fact, I noticed other customers coming up to the counter, asking if their order had been forgotten.

It seems as though others have also experienced this issue (see the other review). Most people appeared to call ahead if they wanted anything hot - the cold hoagies appeared to be going out much more quickly, although a number sat on the staging table for 5-10 minutes while the counter was preoccupied with taking orders.

It's too bad, really - I want to like this place, and I'm willing to give it one more try because the sandwich was good. But be warned that you may wait an awfully long time.

Pros: Food, price

Cons: Extremely slow

The ladies at the Sandwich Mill work hard to provide great food and good service, it can be a wait during the lunch rush, but they strive to make it worth while. I highly recommend you check them out next time you are in the Kulpsville area.
