I had a wonderful dinner their the other night, salmon was awesome. Also the bartender made me one of the best martini's I had ever had. He used Rain Organic vodka, I beleive it was Mango flavored. I can't wait to get back to have more of both......

I was there with my family last week for lunch, the food was definitely amazing! I had the blue cheese souffle as an appetizer...it was accompanied with a neatly stacked salad of apples, pears and frisee. I then enjoyed the roasted turkey "BLT" that had this amazing whole grain mustard spread. For the dessert I enjoyed the S'mores!!! It was a graham cracker cake topped with chocolate ganache, a scoop of vanilla ice cream on chocolate crunchies and a homemade toasted marshmallow! It was out of this world! The next time we go back, I am going to skip lunch and go right for the dessert!

My grandmother dropped nearly $100 for three of us to help ourselves to a pasta bar and a "salad" bar. The pasta bar consisted of penne in oil, marinara, alfredo and basil cream. The alfredo and oil was inedible, marinara and basil cream was passable. The salad bar was an odd assortment of dishes, none of which complemented each other. Broccoli with beef (one of these dishes) was downright disgusting. Desert was advertised as "fruit cobbler" -what we got was a vat of heated canned cherry pie filling -no cobbler in sight. Waitress said, "yeah that is a little weird" but neglected to do anything else.
Reading the positive reviews on this sight leaves me speechless. Our meal was so terrible that I can't even begin to imagine anything even remotely good coming out of this kitchen. For the price, this was offensive. I've had better at Pondarosa. It's awful too, but at least there is some variety.

First, the facts. The Steelhead Restaurant hasn't been called "Steelhead Grill" for several years. It's been the "Steelhead Brasserie and Wine Bar" for a while, but is now (2008) going back to just being "The Steelhead."

Also, it's at the Marriott City Center. Make sure you don't confuse The Steelhead with other places like the Original Fish Market at the Westin, as some have done here. That's a different restaurant.

This is not our standard "hotel restaurant." It's a fine dining restaurant that happens to be at a hotel.

Why? The Steelhead has a new "Rockstar" Executive Chef, Brian Pekarcik, recently returned to PA from Southern California after cooking in some of the best kitchens in America. (Google his name and see for yourself. ) Chef Brian has created a delicious new menu best described as New American Cuisine. The Steelhead dinner menu features his signature, seasonal dishes plus more standard fare. Meats, seafood, pastas -- all well prepared. (Try "three kinds of pork" if it's being served when you go.)

Ambience is lovely, as a result of recent renovation/redecoration. White tablecloth tables or booths are available, and there's private dining in separate rooms for groups.

Wine list is changing, but there was a nice selection of French, Australian and California wines, by the bottle or glass as of May, 2008.

The food at this place was amazing. I got this dish that was filet mignon with some vegetables, and the other side of the plate was short rib over some mashed potatoes. The filet melted in my mouth like butter. It was a rational portion, but the flavor was excellent. Good wine at somewhat moderate prices. Dark mood lit atmosphere. They even have a wine bar where you can grab some hors d' ovres before your meal. I would highly recommend this place for a date if you're trying to impress.

Salad bar was good, but a little let down with the pasta thing. Scary part, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to make a good pasta bar.
Would I eat there again.................ABSOLUTELY !! I am making reservations for this weekend.

Dining at the Steelhead Grill in March 2003 we were surprised by the poor, inattentive and slow service, despite the large number of staff milling around. The food, when it finall arrived was mediocre to bad in quality. Although nice to look at, it didn't taste like much, and suffered from "big plate - not much food on it" syndrome. And all this for price that the food, service and atmosphere simply can't justify.

It would seem that the Steelhead Grill is so proud of the national recognition they have received for their menu that they've forgotten the importance of customer service. My boyfriend and I dined at the Steelhead Grill on Valentine's Day, using a gift certificate we'd recieved. Once our waitresses saw our gift certificate, they alternately ignored us, threw us dirty looks, and basically treated us with the disrespect one does not expect to receive from a restaurant that claims to provide a world-class dining experience. Sadly, the rude waitresses spoiled what would have been a lovely evening, as we did enjoy our meals very much.
