I've had my fair share of great pizza and I must admit I was skeptical when I saw a very popular Chicago establishment, opened up here in WI. I've had some Chicago deep dish while visiting there and I didn't think this place could be any good.
So while we were enjoying a hot day in beautiful Lake Geneva, we tried Gino's East and man, WOW....
The pizza seemed aptly priced for the size of pizza you get. They make it easy and number the amount of slices in the menu, so you know exactly what you want. We shared a small and that's 4 pieces.
We got sausage which they allow you 2 options for, patty layer or pieces. Of course we did a patty layer. The pie naturally takes longer to cook since it's thicker than a thin. It came about 35 minutes later and just the sight and scent of it were amazing. Don't be fooled when you order, the pieces are large. My first bite into it and I knew it was going to be a very enjoyable taste experience. The crust was excellent, a bit of crunch on the end crust and a firm bottom layer. The sauce was great and had chunks of tomato in it (a tad watery I believe but it had zero impact on the taste and it didn't sog up the crust at all). We had onions, black olives and mushrooms and the pie was loaded with them all. The mozz was so gooey and there was no lack of it either.
This place deserves a chance as it is some of the very best deep dish I have ever had and I've had a lot. Also, the garlic bread sticks arrived piping hot and with marinara.
2 thumbs WAY UP
Cons--The wait for deep dish pizza but this isn't a bad thing
Pros--Deep dish is excellent

Located wheb Mac's Dixie Roadhouse used to be (sad that it left as they had amazing wings) is this pizza place. I had my very first deep dish pizza here and absolutely loved it! It was baked to perfection and the staff here was plenty pleasant. Highly recommend!
