I went there on Saturday evening with 13 other people. I wouldn't even give it one star but this site makes me.
Several issues.
1. I ordered Steak and Mahi Mahi. The fish was awful! Too fishy. Two other people at my table also tried it to see if it was good, and they said it was awful too! I told the waitress and she said she would take it to the manager. To make a long story short (because I had to wait for about 30 minutes to get my ticket back), the manager gave me a huge attitude and took $1, yes ONE dollar off my ticket. She said there was nothing else she could do. Bull*&^%^!!!!! I don't know how she became a manager, but she sucks at it.
2. Two of us who tried to Mahi Mahi have been sick since then.
3. One of the kids at our table did not get his food (chicken fingers and french fries). The waitress had forgotten to order it! She brought it to him after everyone else was done eating, and it looked like little popcorn shrimp...they were so little.
4. The waitress put that chicken finger meal on one of the single guy's tickets that was sitting across the table from him.
5. One other person never received a ticket at all. I guess Sakura got what they deserved. His meal was very expensive (2 orders of sushi, steak and lobster, Saki, etc).
We will never be back at this place. They need some help! I guess that explains why the parking lot was pretty bare on a Saturday night......

Second, when we received our order, it wasn't correct. We advised the server of the issue. She said she knew it wasn't correct and showed us that she wrote our order down correctly, but said that??s how the cook made it because that's what he wanted us to have. When we asked her to correct it, she said the person that makes the sushi had already left and we either had to take what he made or nothing. A few members of the staff tried to convince us that what he made was better and said the order couldn??t be corrected. They said that because our order was incorrect, they would give us a discount...which ended up being about $2.

My suspicion was that the fish I ordered wasn??t fresh enough to stand on its own, so he made a roll out of it. After pulling a few pieces out of his creation, this was confirmed. The fish hadn??t spoiled, it just wasn??t as fresh as it should have been. Our experience was very strange and frustrating. We don??t plan on returning.

I'm a Japanese. I haven't eaten the food called "Hibachi" in Japan. We don't have that food. Hibachi is the tool to make fire. I was so sad when I went there. No real Japanese food is there. I guess this is the American style.

My wife and I eat sushi on a regular basis. We recently moved further out of Nashville, and were happy to see that there was a Japanese restaurant near us. We were extremely disappointed in every aspect of this restaurant. We have eaten there twice, just to see if the first time was a fluke... and it was no fluke. This is possibly some of the worst sushi I have ever had. Very poor quality of fish, rice was a bad texture, and they were even poorly rolled. I have to believe that the other reviews seen here were either by people who work at the restaurant or people who have never had good sushi. Not recommended!

I love the food there. But everytime I seem to go there is this one waiter who is just horrible. He is rude. He complains the whole time about his boss. When we were there he was very offensive to me as a woman. Even threatening once to the man I was with. I love the food. But I think for now it will be to go till he's gone. It seems to be the common vote. Everyone I know or have talked to about this restaurant loves it but refuse to go because of him.

I recommend it as long as you ask not to be seated in Johnny's section.
He is absolutely terrible.

Not allowing me the opportunity to leave him a tip; the server asked me "why didn't I leave a tip?" I began to explain to him that you don't ask your customer if he/she will tip you and to allow them time to tip them (I was still sitting there waiting on my co-workers to finish eating). In front of the other customers he began to argue loudly with me concerning his tip and why I should tip him. He later suggested that I go to McDonalds where I can get free service and to let him know that I?m not tipping him next time so he won?t wait on me.

Love this place. Go here twice a week sometimes for their sushi. Friendly sushi chef/staff. Prompt seating and service. Must try it! I recommend the Crunchy Shrimp roll and L.A. Roll.

My husband and i freqent sakura about once or twice a month. The atmosphere is great, the food is fantastic.It is very comparable to Kobe steak house except it is much cheaper. The lunch specials are really a great value. The cooks are funny and very talented. Everyone says they have fantastic sushi too, but I dont eat it so im not sure. I have heard from many people it is great though. It is a great place to go with large groups, they have a double table that holds like 15 people. The restraunt is very clean, and well organized Drink prices are great also. Service is fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone, except for very small children. The flaming volcanoes, and things are really cool to older children, but tend to scare the babies-3 year olds.

So I must say that I was a little bit skeptical to try a Japanese resturant among the chains in Hermitage. I was really craving some sushi though and didn't feel like having to put up with going downtown. So, I decided to try Sakura. I was so happy with my meal and I cannot WAIT to go back! It is very nice inside! I can't wait to try their hibachi, but we did eat their sushi and it was FABULOUS! We watched it being made and it was so good and fresh. Plus, the prices were great and the staff was more than friendly. You HAVE to try this place!
