Arrived around 6:30 on a Thursday evening, had a 15 minute wait. Was able to get a perfectly mixed Kettle One dirty martini at the bar while waiting.

Ordered the warm spinach dip and deviled eggs for appetizers - both were good, dip was a little better than the typical dip served at most restaurants.

Dinner entrees were wonderful! I ordered the trout with a lemon butter sauce and capers and a side of the sauteed spinach. The sauce was delicious and the spinach was cooked perfectly (still crisp). Partner ordered the prime rib with a twice backed potato - meat was perfectly cooked to medium and the au jus was phenomenal (hint of thyme and/or rosemary - not overwhelming, wonderful!).

For desert we split the chocolate cookie (served in a small iron skillet) with vanilla ice cream and home-made caramel sauce. Not expecting much from this typical desert, but now I can't stop dreaming about it! The caramel sauce pushes it beyond good.

Bricktop's is the first restaurant I've been to in the Nashville area that I didn't think was over rated and not worth the money - we will definitely be back!

Cons: A little loud, but still fun

Had read some bad reviews before going but we all agreed to try. Party of 12 attending the SEC tournment. We were greeted when we arrived and were seated quickly. The server was right there and took drink orders. Responded quickly with apps and took meal orders. As soon as the apps were finished, meals arrived. Everyone enjoyed the meals and service was excellent. Will go back the next time we are in Nashville.

I'm going to join the chorus of reviews that point out how rude the host staff is at this restaurant. We encountered the most hostile hostess I've ever met at a restaurant. I heard her be rude to co-workers and others before even reaching her at the stand. And then she was worse up close and personal. I cannot understand how any restaurant can maintain a staff that is notoriously unfriendly and rude. We left before ordering and went to a different restaurant altogether.

I have been a fan of Bricktop's until tonight. Not going into the whole story, a friend and I sat at a booth in the bar because the greeter told us the 'bar' was full service, 1st come, 1st served. Another greeter came to the booth and explained that meant the physical 'bar' and not booths in the 'bar'. We apologized for the misunderstanding and the greeter said we could stay. The greeter that told us what the 'bar' rules were came up to us and started questioning us again. Not typing the whole conversation, the greeter's last, very RUDE words were, "Well, I will LET you stay."

We sat in shock about how rude she was and decided to leave. We LET her know she could have her booth and went down the street and enjoyed a pleasant and friendly staff at Tin Angel.

Great food is available all over Nashville. No need to return Bricktop's and take the chance at being subjected to such poor treatment, again.

Four of us went for a family dinner on a Sunday evening.
Two of the orders were mishandled and when asked for hot sauce the waitress got lost except when it was time for the check

I had such a hard time connecting with the food at this restaurant tonight! This has always been a favorite for me, but everything was off this time. Our hostess was rude, the server acted like we were an inconvenience, the woman that delivered my oysters, dumped water from the plate in my lap, and the manager talked down to me for not informing him earlier that I was having a bad experience.
He was gracious enough to take the drinks of the tab, but I still had to pay 130.00 for a nightmare dinner.

Every time I visit BrickTops the service and staff are the Best! Friendly and helpful. Enough of that.... The Burger is the best. I can't get past it for other items on the menu. I have had some other menu items which were very good but the Burger is Tops! For a great side go for the mac-n-cheese. It is also out of this world. Great job to the cooks and staff at Bricktops.

I have been here twice with groups of 4 and 12 people. Both times everyone in the group loved the food, drinks and very helpful and courteous staff. If you want great prime rib, ribs, fresh fish, or even deviled eggs and blue cheese potato chips, this is a place that focused on food taste and quality. It may not be a fancy atmosphere but it is very nice and suitable for famiy or business dinners. Price is reasonable for location and the food quality/portion size.

We recently had dinner at BrickTop's and were thoroughly disappointed. The food was overpriced, the service average at best, the ambiance ordinary, and the culinary experience most disappointing. The food presentation was mediocre; fillet mignon came as a lump of meat with no garnish, rotisserie chicken came as a grilled bird with no flavor or color. If a salad were ordered, it would have cost extra. Bread was offered, not spontaneously at the beginning of the dinner but with some coaxing during dinner. Desserts were limited in choice. The server was apathetic, and the manager didn't care to inquire if we were satisfied. Overall, the bill of $30 per head, without wine or appetizer or dessert, was not worth the price for the dinner experience. So, that was our last visit to BrickTop's.

It was my first time to go to this location since Houston's closed. The decor was beautiful and the staff was very nice. However, the $11 bluecheese burger looked more like a Wendy burger. Small, dry meat, overcooked. Very disappointing. The menu options are slim. The cocktails are all $10 and come in a small glass. Not sure if I would go back there again.

A friend and I were in Nashville on business and wanted to try someplace new. I had previously passed Bricktops numerous times and suggested it. At 12pm on a Tuesday, we were told it would be a 25 minute wait. 25 minute wait turned into 45 minutes. I don't mind a wait, but Bricktop's space is so limited it felt like we were on the subway in NY. The food was not worth the wait. We had spinach and artichoke dip to start, which was very tasty. For entrees, I had the french dip, and my friend ordered the chicken tortilla soup. The soup looked like they had just poured baby food into a bowl and stuck a tortilla chip in it. She said there was not much chicken which made the soup unappetizing. The french dip was a good size and tasted overcooked. The server was absent and acted like waiting on us was a nuisance. Other servers were goofing off with the hostess next to our table which was very unprofessional. This was two trips in one: my first and my last.

...had it not been for the artwork.
Otherwise, fantastic restaurant! Really surprised at reviews that criticize the service, particularly the attitudes of the staff. I have always received a warm welcome, prompt service and great effort from the staff, especially the bartenders - on a Friday night they crank out the frosty libations from demanding patrons with style and a smile, and when it's a little slower during the day, they are quite conversational.
As a vegetarian, I cannot comment on the entire menu (though the meat dishes I see tend to tempt me). However, the wood oven roasted artichoke halves are a superb appetizer, and the vegetables of the day have never let me down. The - ok, let me cut to the chase - the restaurant is beautiful, the staff is friendly and very competent, the food is fantastic and quite reasonably priced, but as the name of the review would indicate, I have a hard time with the cartoonish chimpanzees with the tales of monkeys. They do not fit in the resaurant of this calibre, and having read many reviews, it would appear that several writers agree with me on this issue. The chimpkeys must go, and should be replaced by rich, textured abstract art. Art like the paintings you would find on QuixoticArt something or another. I visited that site, and have to give it five luminaries also.
Well, enough about the chimpkeys and the wonderful art that you would see on QuixoticArt something or another.
As Art Linkletter would say, "I heartily endorse this restaurant!" except for the...

Bricktops is one of my favorite sit-down restaurants in Nashville. They serve a good mix of upscale American cuisine, including wonderful grilled fish, steaks, and burgers as well as salads and flat-breads. The service is generally very good and I've never had issues with the quality of the food. It's perfect for any type of occasion, whether you're looking for a quick lunch/dinner, a night out with the kids, or a romantic date or special occasion. For dessert, the Chocolate Chip (a huge chocolate chip cookie, freshly baked in its own personal skillet, topped with vanilla ice cream) is a must-have. The restaurant is definitely on the pricey side but is worth every penny.

My husband and I usually visit Bricktop's twice a month. We commute from TN to SFO monthly and expect service from the restuarants we patronize. Up until our 3/22/08 visit, Bricktop's usually did not disappoint but on that Sat nite, our service and food was simply terrible. To make things worse, we were entertaining a guest from Scottdale and had raved how wonderful our favorite place would be! My friend and I were seated promptly and served our cocktails but our server was very rude when he found out my husband was running 10 min late. He kept pressing for us to order starters after I told him repeatedly we would enjoy our cocktails and wait for my husband. My husband did arrive and ordered his cocktail and we did order a starter which came immediately but before we could get the first bite the bisque and salad was served at which time we told the server and one of the managers to stop pushing us. We could not believe it when we looked up and there was a server with our entrees when we had not even has two bites of our bisque or salad!! We sent them back to the kitchen and again said not to push us.; we wanted to order wine with our dinner but the wine list was not offered. We wound up with two very ordinary choices of chardonnay by the glass. Once again our entrees were presented before we had finished our starters but we decided to give up and let them serve them. They were not fresh and had just been setting under the hot lite while we were eating our starters. Our very ORDINARY Chard was finally served halfway thru the entree service. We did get a good laugh when asked if we wanted dessert, all we wanted was to get our check and leave and apologize to our guest for such an embarassing evening. My husband was going to leave no tip but as a former waitress while in school I did manage to talk him in to leaving a small one that would leave msg of how displeased we were to spend over $200 for a very stressful evening.

Certain types of people are not welcome in this restaurant. One greeter walked right past me and never said hello. I had to walk up to the 2nd one and initiate conversation. The manager looked at my mom and me like we each had 100 heads. We were dressed professionally. As I glanced around the restaurant, no black patrons. Now I know why. I don't feel a need to go where I am not wanted. Bricktops has a right to serve the type of customers they prefer. It just gave me a strange feeling to walk into a restaurant in a busy place like West End and get the kind of cold reception that we did. Wow and this is 2008. I would expect it in Alabama in 1950. Oh well. There are hundreds of restaurants in Nashville. And Bricktops, I'm not suggesting that you change the way you do business, I'm only posting this message as a friendly warning to other people of color who may be hungry and looking for a nice place to eat. Go elsewhere.

I keep trying this restaurant as the food really is great, I love the ambiance, and I keep expecting the service to get better, especially considering the owner is one of the guys who originally started Houston's Restaurant with its legendary commitment to service and food quality. The beef tenderloin flatbread is amazing, the lemonade is perfection, and the roasted chicked is wonderfully moist and seasoned. I've never ordered anything that wasn't good, but it has taken me over 35 minutes to actually get my food on more than one occasion. I've also had to wait 10+ minutes to get a drink refill or more ketchup, etc., even when the restaurant isn't that busy. In general, the waitstaff seems under-trained, and not very knowledgeable about the menu. On one occasion, I ordered a certain dessert, the creme brulee (which is divine), but my server brought me a different dessert saying this one was much better. After questioning him several times, I found out that they had actually run out of creme brulee (which was fine, that happens), but rather than asking me if I wanted something different, they just brought me a different (and more expensive)dessert, and then CHARGED me for it! Additionally the hostess staff does not go with the cool, collected ambiance as they generally seem confused, flustered and in a state of constant anxiety.

In short, I would expect more in terms of service from a Joe Ledbetter restaurant, especially when I can get just as good of food that is a little less expensive with outstanding service just a little down the road at at least one other American restaurant on West End. Hopefully the kinks will get worked out as the new General Manager takes over.

Excellent cheesburger, cooked just as ordered. The deviled eggs for an appetizer were delicious. My wife had the Reuben sandwich, the special of the day along with sauteed spinach. The Reuben was good (and big!). The spinach was fresh, but a little salty. The salads that we watched being brought out were huge and looked delicious. The dining room was nicely decorated for Christmas. Would definitely go back to try more.

I haven't had a bad experience here yet. It can be very busy sometimes, which I think is a sign when people are willing to wait for this goodness, but the bar is friendly and a great way to pass the wait. I've heard people complain about the pace, well, I say to them if you want fast food then go to McDonald's. This is a place to enjoy your evening as well as your food. The servers are very friendly, interactive, and knowledgeable and more than happy to suggest some great menu items. I would recommend everything I've eaten there and that's a long list.

Although I don't live in Nashville, I am definitely a frequent visitor. I work part-time at Vanderbilt and travel often between different cities, finding myself in Nashville on most weekends. I've had the pleasure of spending the last few Saturday afternoons sitting at the Bricktops bar and must admit, this restaurant is my new favorite. When I arrived in Nashville yesterday afternoon, I had no trouble deciding where to go for my late lunch. I walked into Bricktops and saw the friendly bartender I have become friends with, ( I won't say her name due to respecting her privacy) and she immediately remembered my name, my drink and proceeded to ask me if I had been traveling that morning. Everything about the experience was exceptional...I tried a new heirloom tomato salad..it was incredible. The afternoon was great, except for a brief interruption by a young, angry manager who interrupted my conversation with the 'friendly bartender' and the 'couple' sitting next to me. I don't know what he was so angry about but I must admit, it seemed extremely out of place and disrespectful. But other than that, my experience here was just as pleasant and impressive as before. I highly recommend Bricktops to anyone and look forward to the new branch in Atlanta.
Thanks for your restaurant!

Although I don't live in Nashville, I am definitely a frequent visitor. I work part-time at Vanderbilt and travel often between different cities, finding myself in Nashville on most weekends. we went there for my birthday a few weeks ago and i truely enjoyed it. started off with the grilled artichoke appitizer.....loved the seasoning and dipping sauce. i had the salmon flatbread as an entree and it was fantastic. my fiance had the ahi tuna salad which he also enjoyed very much. his mother had a shrimp and grits dish but she was slightly dissapointed. they had changed the sauce and she said the old one was much better. i also enjoyed the cranberry cider martini i ordered. the best part is the fact that they rim the glass with cinnamon and sugar.....YUM. service was very good too. overall i would recommend!

I'm new to Nashville and this restaurant was suggested by a friend. The atmosphere is cute, although I'm not really sure about the monkeys on everything...is there a reason or is it just "sweet appeal"? Anyway, I ordered a Caesar Salad, and I must say, it was pretty disappointing. The presentation was so unimpressive, it was as if they threw some lettuce, cheese, croutons and dressing into a bowl and brought it out to the table. I know that's all that's in a Caesar, but it was just so boring, I had no desire to eat it. My friend however, had a sandwich, and he said it was pretty good. I may try this place again, but with all the other restaurants around, I'm not sure.

Recommended for the business lunch/dinner, great food, simple menu, and slightly different than what you would expect from an mid to upscale chain. Very comfortable place with a terrific staff.

Went there w/family from out of town on a Sunday afternoon. I am sorry to report it was not a fun event.
This was my second and last time to dine. Based on my two visits they dont seem to be trying very hard to impress. The service and food are not equal to the asking price. The menu is limited. The drinks are small and overpriced.
I wish I had something nice to say about this place .....here's something....it looks good as you drive by.
I will not be bringing anymore folks from intown or "out of town" to this place. They have lost my business.

My husband & I dined there for the first time Sat evening. We arrived at 5 and were promptly seated (any later & we wouldnt have gotten a seat). The food we ordered was good. I enjoyed our spinach & artichoke dip appetizer; it also came with salsa that was tasty. I ordered the Steak Frites, which was a ribeye with a little sauce on top. I though it was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. It wasn't the best steak I've ever had but I enjoyed it. It came with fries and mixed greens tossed with vinagrette. The fries were skinny & cooked crispy. I really liked them but the portion of greens was puny to say the least. My husband ordered the prime rib and a house salad. I thought the house salad looked like a good quality salad and he said it was good. But I thought it should come with the meal not cost $4 on top of it.
While we enjoyed our food the service left alot to be desired. We rarely saw our waitress. She didnt take our initial drink order or bring us our food. She showed up only to take our food order then shortly after our food arrived and asked how it was. By that time our drinks had sat empty for 25-30 min. Then she appeared again only to ask us if we wanted desert, which we didn't. We weren't offered another drink refill until after we refused desertI believe if we had been imbibing in alcholic beverages we would have received more attention.
I have to say even though we liked our food, the service wasn't worth the price of the food and we wont be returning.

I have lived off and on in Nashville over the past 5 years, and we have all seen restaurants come and go.. but thank goodness Bricktop's has come to town. I dine at Bricktop's at least once a week, and let me tell you that EVERY single time I have been there the staff and food has been near perfect. I have had almost everything on the menu, and I have NEVER had a bad meal or poor service. The flatbreads are great as an apptizer (wife's favorite), I go for the steak usually but lately the fish has been amazing, even the oysters ( in Nashville, who would have thought that one could get great oysters in a landlocked city).

As we all know not every restaurant can please everyone, but this is one restaurant that truley does!!

Keep up the great work, and I look forward to seeing you later this weekend!!

Devoted fan!!

My wife and I went here for Valentine's Day dinner and it was horrible. The food was far from good and very over priced. The entrees do not come with any salads or bread, just the entree and potato. Salads have to be ordered separate at 8 dollars a piece!!!!! Service was mediocre at best. I should have gone across the street to Stony River steakhouse and probably would have had a much better meal at half the price!!!!I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.....hopefully you will not make the same mistake I made.....especially on Valentine's Day. Lucky for me I have a wonderful wife who was not disappointed with me!!!!!!!!

IT'S TERRIBLE. (Brickflops) I would not eat there if it was the only place open. Food was cool to the touch.....as were the servers . Do yourself and family, friends a BIG favor and stay away. There are too many nice places in Nashville that will "welcome you in" and treat you like they want your business. (o.k. : food ...we had several in our party....the fish was undercooked, the pasta was "cold" the salad was "limp", thank God the chicken tasted like chicken......all in all......$190.00 and it was very poor quality.
Nashville is a great town...eat out every night...JUST STAY AWAY FROM BRICKFLOPS PLEASE!

Really liked this place. I had the shrimp roummelade (sp?) w/ jasmine rice and it was sooo good. I was with a group of about 8 people, we all ordered something different, and we ALL enjoyed our food. The service was also unmatched. It made the experience that much more enjoyable. Our waiter was a very friendly guy and very knowlegdeable about the wine and entrees. The manager even stopped by a couple of times to make sure we were fine. He even overheard us commenting about a flatbread pizza we saw being taken to another table and how good it looked. Within minutes, he brought one to our table, complimentary, so we could all try it. This was a great place to hang w/ a group of friends and enjoy good food and drinks.

The flatbread praise that I've read here must not have included the smoked salmon. It was so boring, completely unfinished. An oil or cream side would have been good to take away the dryness. We tried four entrees and two desserts and all was just ordinary. Nothing here to rave about.

As many other Nashvillians, I was sad to see Houstons go, but Bricktops is a great addition to West End. I've been to Bricktops 5 times, and each time has been a great experience. My second visit, the server, Erin, suggested the fish sandwich and the veggie burger, with wild rice salad. My friend I got both and shared, and they were equally amazing. Each time since, I have gotten one or the other and have not been dissatisfied. My fifth visit, Mallory served us, and she was just as personable and attentive as Erin! The service of these two young ladies is a great compliment to the warm, inviting atmosphere and delicious, flavorful food. Though it's a unique dish, I definitely recommend the wild rice salad as a side to any entree!

My husband and I have been going to Houston's with our children since the doors opened and so we were of course distraught when the restaurant shut its doors last August. We were somewhat hesitant to try Bricktops, since we would be comparing everything to Houston's but decided to give it a try. we came in on a friday night-the lobby was busy but not crazy but we were instantly impressed with the beautiful bar-wow. we were greeted by two hostesses who welcomed us to the restaurant and took our names. we waited a few mintues under the time that we were quoted and then were seated. out server, Bryan, came over to the table within 30 seconds and was friendly and energetic, as well as personable right from the very start. He suggested several items on the menu-we decided to start with a flatbread and then we both ordered the crabcakes. Everything was delicious! The service was superb-we were taken care of by serveral servers and our every need was met. To top it all off, the hostesses even held the door for us as we were leaving and wished us a pleasant evening. We will most definitely be back.

Like everyone else in Nashville, i was disappointed when i heard that Houston's was closing down but after walking into Bricktop's for the first time on a Friday night, i changed my mind. Right away i was impressed by the decor and was greeted by a very nice greeter, who wasted no time in saying hello and welcoming me to the restaurant. She quoted me a 30 minutes and i was promptly sat in 25. All the greeters were very upbeat and friendly. I was greeted my a server within seconds of sitting down. After hearing about the features, i asked about the wine selection. The server was very knowledgeable and helped me and my wife reach a decision easily. My wife ordered the seared beef flatbread and i ordered the New York Strip, which i thought was overpriced but once i tasted it, i changed my mind. Overall i had a fantastic experiance and can't wait to come again.

A nashvile native, I was really familiar with most of the restaurants in town and was trying to decide which restaurant to bring my parents when they visited town. Came down to Bricktops, J Alexanders and Sunset Grill... My dad is extremely hard to please and I always feel sorry for the server who has to endure his bad attitude. My first experience in bricktops was great, loved the flatbread and my server, chris, was excellent. I decided to return and I brought in my family. Our server was Mallory, a charming, funny and beautiful young lady who managed to have my dad in a great mood by the time she brought us our flatbread! She convinced us the cider martinis were amazing...and they were! We all had featured items, the seabass, stone crab and prime new york strip. The portions were the perfect size...we wanted wine for our dinner and Mallory suggested we try the Rex Hill Pinor Noir. My wife ususally doesn't like red wine but the server offered to let her try a lighter red. I don't remember what the name of the wine, but now my wine loves red wine! The entire night was great...I never had to ask for anything, the entire staff seemed to know exactly what I needed before I even did! Two servers arrived to deliver our food and it was like they did it like clockwork! And of course, we had to finish the evening with a banana split and one of those cookie desserts...I love this restaurant, the food and especially the service! I am definately becoming a regular!

This is a great place! A lot like J Alexanders, but better entree selections. Flatbread is awesome! I went with my 2 girlfriends & we had a wonderful time eating & drinking. Server was very friendly. We had reservations & had to wait maybe 10 minutes when we arrived. I would definitely recommend... great parking for West End.

I was in town visiting my sister and we stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night. It was PACKED. We made reservations for 7 and had to wait about 15 minutes but that is understandable in a restaurant this busy. I have read some of the other reviews and was shocked. I loved this place. I would have waited an hour for the flat breads and the banana split.

To start off it was my birthday and my friends called ahead for seating and when we got there we had to wait another 30 min. We were then told that they would not be able to accomodate us unless we could squeeze into a booth for six. There were 9 in the party. We asked if we could pull some chairs up to our table and the hostess told us no. Only until i complained to the manager did we get our chair. My friend wanted to order a nice bottle of wine and asked the server what she would recommend. She said "she wasnt a wine drinker and didnt know"!! Give me a break, maybe she shouldnt be in the resturaunt industry. I ordered a margarita and it came out looking terrible. No ice, no salt, and no lime?? Terrible presentation. The server always asked us if we needed another drink...i felt like i was putting her out by making her get me a drink? The food was good but nothing great. I have had much better food and service at J.Alexander's on West End with the same type atmosphere. Wont be returning anytime soon!

Our group was extremely disappointed in the food and service here. The service was unbelievably slow, in spite of the fact that the restaurant was not busy (at 7 pm on a Saturday night...that should have been our first clue to what we were in for). All meals were delivered except for one. The manager came over and said it was not cooked to his satisfaction, so he was having it recooked. We think they just forgot to prepare the order because it was undercooked when delivered. The prime rib dinner was wonderful. Diners who ordered fish loved the fish but found the rice bland and the vegetables still raw. When the manager asked about the meals, we told him about the veggies and he just blew us off by saying that the veggies are prepared " al dente," when they were not even warm and were still bitter from undercooking. All three fish diners left the rice and veggies on their plates at the end of the meal but the waitstaff never asked if there was a reason for it. The other mistake this restaurant makes is serving small portions on very large plates, which makes it look like the portions are even smaller. We will not be back. There are too many other fine restaurants in this great city that know how to do it right.

If you are looking for that upbeat, upscale, friendly, energetic dining room then this is the place. From the manager who stopped by our table to say hello, to the extremely friendly service this place is must for anyone who wants to enjoy a great evening. The seating was great, the booths are comfortable and all staff members that we came in contact with were very accomodating.

Great Job!! I am a new regular.

New York Steak was tasteless, No seasoning, just big hunk of meat. Baked Chicken was just fair. Have paid less for much better flavor. Reservation made for group, but was made to wait 30 + min at 5:00 pm. Then we were packed in two booths like Sardines. Sat on side in chair and a bald man rudely told us to move with no offer to find additional seating. Ordered a takeout in addidtion to dining in meal. Told at time to pay bill that they did not have what I ordered. Did I want something else? A little late to ask! Food did not measure up to the cost factor.
