Awesome family run business. Corrado and his whole family do a great job. There is usually a bit of a wait, but it is well worth it. Just discovered Savarno's a few weeks ago and have now eaten there 4 times -- getting a different dish

My Wife and I saw Savarno's on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives and got excited when we saw it was located here in Nashville. We live in Franklin, but made the small trip to downtown Nashville just to eat at Savarno's. Being a Saturday, free

I was so excited to come visit Savarinos once I saw it on Diners Drive inns and Dives. SO DISAPPOINTED. Guy you missed this one. The red sauce was so salty it was ineatable. When we shared our concerns we were told then dont eat it.

Wow, what jerks. Our birthday party of six called ahead to confirm Savarino's hours for Saturday evening. They told use they closed at 8pm and to arrive no later than 7:30pm to be seated. We arrived at 6:55pm and the hostess literally

I recently moved here from NJ. It was hard to find that little, cozy italian cafe

/restaurant. I was really excited, sat there with a smile on my face after every bite. This place is definately on my list of the usual places I go

My Uncle took me to this restaurant when I visited him one summer. I had the greatest time there with all the people. The food I ate there was definately good. Especially the Calamari. I didn't make friends there, I made Family, and thats how it is there. Even for people that walk off the street. They do get a bit rowdy, but there are many great stories to be heard from each of them. I will always remember Savarino's, and everytime I go to Nashville, I plan on going there whenever I can. I hope you all can agree with me on that. I just wish all restaurants had the same feeling to them.

Pros: Good food, treated as Family, whats better?

Cons: They're Italian, so it gets noisy...

I always enjoy going to Savarino's. Corrado is a great host and the food is always delicious. Be prepared to wait a while for the food to be prepared, as there are no microwaves on site.

The food is very simple and very good. Don't expect fancy flavor combinations or beautiful garnishes and presentation. Do expect tradition Italian fare with fantastic sauce, amazing breads and the best homemade desserts in town.

Very allergy friendly as well, as Corrado prepares everything on-site. If you're unsure as to what the ingredients of a certain meal are, just ask and he'll let you know if it is safe or not.

Have read write ups on this place, and was excited to finally go. What a disappointment. I should have known something was wrong when restaurants on both sides were busy, and there was no one in Savarno's. Placed order with woman behind counter, who didn't seem to want to be there. Pizza came out burnt, and bland. My grandson who loves pizza wouldn't even eat it. I had a sandwich, which was very unimpressive. Seemed to have been thrown together in a hurry. Balsamic vinegar soaked one side of sandwich, and there was none on the other.
What a rip off! No wonder no one was in the place. I surely won't ever go back. The building should be very nice for the next restaurant that goes in...because I'm sure Savarno's won't be there much longer.

i went for lunch today and had the artichoke heart, roasted red pepper and goat cheese sandwich. they had a lot of dfferent sandwiches to choose from so it was hard to pick. the bread was obviously fresh and very crispy. my friend and i shared a rice ball which had a lot of flavor without being too overwhelming. they feature a different pasta special everyday so if today hadn't been carbonara day i would have tried a special. definitely recommend as non-generic italian with some thought put into the menu.

Cons: parking

I recently went to Savarino's because I had heard about all the hype. Decided to take the recommendations of not only those reviewing here, but also from print articles. Ordered the Lasagna and a slice of cheesecake. The cheesecake was not that good. Publix cheesecake is 10X better. Lasagna was huge portion as other reviewers touted but it was very salty and oily. I did not enjoy my lunch. I was truly disappointed by the cheesecake. I grew up in NYC and I've had my share of NY Style Cheesecake. The pastries looked great, but I'm glad I didn't get any of those because I think I would have also been disappointed. I truly was not impressed by Savarino's at all. Maybe it was all the hype. I suggest you go to the Italian Market off of Charlotte. It is soooooo much better and the food is DELICIOUS too. I think I'll stick with them when I want to have authentic Italian food and sandwiches. They know how to prepare Italian food that tastes delicious.

Pros: Large Lasagna Portion

Cons: Food Does not Taste As Good As It Looks

.

Yummy desserts, especially the cheesecake! Lasagna was great and a very generous portion easily enough for 2 people. Marinated veggie sandwich was a bit too vinegar-y for me, but veggies tender and good. Only a few tables so take out is a good idea. Last time I checked they didn't serve plain coffee--just espressos, etc. Italian grocery items available for purchase, too. Parking lot is tiny, but street parking is available. Get there early on weekend to get freshly baked pastries before they're gone!

This is the place that Italian people who are in the "know" eat at. Most cities outside of the Northeast have convinced their citizens that a five-star Italian Dining Experience should consist of overwhelming portions of rich creamy pastas and cheesy lasagnas being served to you in low lighting by someone wearing a tuxedo. Well, let me be the first to say that although there is nothing wrong with that, it is far from what Italian food is. Being from a Italian community in Western Pa., I came to take for granted the dining experiences that my family and I had when we would go out to eat. Since I moved away seven years ago, at first to Southern Cal and then here, it became apparent to me that I may never again enjoy a real Italian meal like I used to get back home. Well, that all changed when I ate at Savarinos for the first time. Finally, a place in Nashville that understood. I literally had tears in my eyes while eating my broccoli rabe and sharing a riceball and some stuffed peppers with my girlfriend and while sampling some of her gemilli with grilled vegetables. Since then, I have returned numerous times and have had sampled just about every item on the menu. And believe me, there is something for everyone: Fresh salads complete with homemade dressing, sandwiches, meats and cheeses that are truly delish, vegetarian dishes, the basics (pizza, chicken parm, spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna ... ) and more regionally inspired cuisine like the Chicken Val D'Aosta. Oh and of course there are the homemade gelatos, cheesecakes and cookies. Savarinos does so easily what all other Italian eateries in this town fail to understand, that real Italian cooking comes from simple and fresh ingrediants that are prepared from the heart. Real Italian food is not intended to just fatten your stomach and lighten your wallet, real Italian food is supposed to make you smile. When you eat here, you are part of their family, and your happiness is their only concern.

Pros: Something for everyone, inexpensive, and very authentic.

Cons: You may have to wait longer than you would at olive garden. But its so worth it.

Best Italian eatery in town. They have a daily selection of freshly prepared dishes, sandwiches, breads, desserts, etc. The owners are always helpful in explaining what their specials are and what selections of meats and cheeses they have. They are always happy to give a sample and most items in the store are not readily available elsewhere in town. The chicken parm. sandwich is great and their Saturday seafood salad can't be beat.

If you don't have the patience to wait a few minutes for the excellent quality of what they offer... go to McDonalds or Olive Garden.

I want this place to do well and wish I could give it a glowing review, but my experience on the two occasions I've been there has been mixed. The first time I visited was a few months ago, within a week or so of their opening. I ordered two sandwiches to go. Even though it was not busy, it was about a 15-minute wait for the order to be ready. Assuming the stuff is already cooked and just needs assembly, that's pretty slow. The sandwiches (one meatball, one eggplant parmesan) were decent and HUGE. If you want a lighter lunch plan to split one.

I could forgive the slowness of the first visit since they had just opened and they were probably still working out the kinks. Plus, the loaf of herb bread I picked up to eat with dinner that night was so soft and delicious!

Recently I went back to pick up another loaf of that herb bread. They only had the plain Italian loaf that day, so I got that instead. We decided to order some coffee and sit down. Again, it wasn't busy -- the cashier went straight from taking our order to making our espresso and cappuccino. It still took close to 10 minutes to get our coffee, and the cappuccino had no foam on top.

They also carry Italian meats, cheeses, and other grocery items, plus pastries and baked goods. I'll go back for the bread, but I'm not sure the menu items are worth the long wait.

I'll be honest. I have yet to visit Savarino's, but I am familiar with one of the coowners. If this little restaurant is any reflection of the character and accomodation always put forth by once Bosco's bartender, Brandon (never got his last name) this place is sure to be a success. My boyfriend and I have thoroughly enjoyed a cask beer and a Calzone de Bosco pizza on many an occasion, but no matter how strong the craving for a Flaming Stone may have been, if Brandon wasn't behind the bar, the whole experience was a wash. He is professional, has a very unique and polished pallette for beer and food alike and well, he's just plain fun. We've laughed at his entertaining antics long after dinner was finished, and we sure do miss seeing him behind that bar. But here's to you Brandon! Can't wait to pop in for dinner this week and sample what I know will be a fabulously enjoyable Italian meal! We wish you all the luck in the world.

Pros: Great location, sure to be great service

Cons: Is there a bocce court? Hmmmmm.
