I've always experienced excellent service and a great meal from the Scottish Arms. They go out of their way to ensure quality food and a fun, unique atmosphere. I will be back soon.

My husband and I had been excited about going to the Scottish Arms for a while, since his family line traces back to the Scottish Highlands.

The decor was beautiful. Nice dark wood, decorative ceiling tiles, and loads of items from Scotland on the wall.

The owner was extremely nice. The mussels we ordered weren't up to his chef's standards, so he gave us a free appetizer of rosemary shrimp, tomatoes, and scallops. Absolutely the best scallops I've ever had.

The food was good, but don't expect American chain restaurant sized-portions. No one at our table of 8 left with a to-go box. I had the Shepherd's Pie - it was not seasoned well, and the vegetables were still very hard.

The imported beer prices were a little high, around $5.75 a bottle. Our table of 8 spent around $200 with tax and an 18% tip.

All in all, it's a fun place to go occassionally. My only real complaint was that it was very very noisy. We went on a Thursday night, and it wasn't that busy. It was hard to have a conversation. I

I think they may have been down to only two servers as well, because it took at good 20 mintues to get our drinks ordered, then another 15 to get our appetizer ordered, and so on. We were there for about two hours.

If you go, just remember that you paying a little more for the atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, the food was pretty good - but a little pricey for the portion size.

This is probably my favorite restaurant in all of St. Louis for a nice quick meal. The beer is awesome. The burgers are the best I've had. The fish and chips I love. We've also had all the appetizers and a few of the entrees so far they have never messed anything up and it has all be fantastic. Totally recommend checking this place out!!

Our family doctor recommended the place as something my British husband (newly transplanted) would enjoy. I saw the menu online mentioned HP Brown Sauce (one of dh's favorites, but, hard to find here) and we decided to go. (as a note, the menu is out of date, no guiness stew, but, a guiness pie... the live music calendar says April for goodness sake! The history and photos on the site are awesome though!)

The sausage rolls for our appetizer were great. There were a lot of import beers on tap ($4.50 during happy hour). I had the fish and chips (as mentioned in the other review, it was haddock. Cod is most common in the US, but, haddock is normal across the pond, too). It was great, all the way down to the seed-catching mesh bag the lemon came in. My husband had the shepard's pie and the meat was DELISH.
We split a warm chocolate something for desert. It smelled DIVINE. The taste was decent, but, I probably won't get it again.

The service was fantastic. The bartender was informational about the beer and the foreign sports channels and games on the two televisions. The server was very helpful and gave us advice on a grocer that carries the hp sauce and another grocer that might carry import beers.

For the food and the atmosphere, the price was fair. We won't be able to afford it too often, but, my husband does intend to go some early hours and watch cricket or something like that. We sat in the pub to eat, but peeked in the dining room. The bar portion was dark and woody and cozy, the dining area was LOVELY (the lassies room as well, very nice).

The parking lot leaves something to be desired, but, it didn't affect my overall impression of the place too much. Easy location to get to, but, not EXACTLY at the intersection of FP and Sarah, just a half a block north, you almost miss it.
