Great food and friendly stuff. You can eat the best middle eastern food in kansas city. (in my oppinion). Where to start i had a Warm Vegeterian Combo for appetizer (recomended 5*) and a Rack of Lamb as a meal with a Lentil soup. The Lamb

Congenial host, pleasant, if somewhat humble, surroundings and great food. Recently they've added music on several evenings and the owner always has something creative going on to bring folks through the front door.

Once there, you'll

This place is amazing.... a wild cross between a river boat from the old west and middle eastern decor. I loved it. The food is to die for. I had the special, Kebbe Be Lahemei (I think is how you spell it) and it was phenomenal. Next time I am going to try the sultan chicken. The pita bread is made right there at the restaurant, and it is served grilled and soft. The owner was telling another customer, everything is made from scratch and he gets spices from the middle east. They have art from area artists displayed and for sale, they also have a heck of a music line-up. We went on a tuesday and Brian Ruskin was playing with several other musicians and it was so great. A perfect compliment to the evening. Great place for a date or to meet friends.... If you like middle eastern food, you have to try Cafe Cedar....

Pros: The food, best Middle Eastern in Kansas City

Cons: they allow smoking still at the bar, ok in restaurant though

Cedar Cafe is my favorite Mediterranean food in the Kansas City area! Parkville is a bit of a drive from KC, but the food is well worth it! Falafil and hummus is great, soups are always good, and the Lamb kabobs are my favorite! Menu includes greek as well as Middle Eastern/Mediterranean so that means yummy gyros too. Oh they also have an American menu but why anyone would go to a great mediterranean restaurant for some fried chicken is beyond me.

My gal-pals and I breezed into Parkville for my Pre-birthday dinner. I had chosen Caf Cedar because I wanted to try something different and for some reason the name Caf Cedar caught my eye. Our server was delightful and attentive but she accidentally switched plates on one of my gal-pals who ended up with a bland fried catfish the other party getting her sea bass which, my friend finally did get. She said it was very good. I had the Cornish game hen stuffed with rice. It was good as was the cucumber sauce. The greenbeans were limp and tasteless, unfortunately. We chose an Australian Shiraz as our server was a friendly young woman from Downunder. The hummus and baba ganouj were divoon. Going back to the entre mixup, the Restaurant owner/manager was very quick to rectify the situation before we could bring it to his attention. He and our server apologized profusely and comped our wine which was a very gracious gesture. He later came back and apologized at least two more times. I told my friend that the man was very concerned about his customer service and I for one appreciate that. Overall, the taste of dinner was ok. Nothing out of the ordinary. The environment was pleasant. The service was attentive and pleasant. I would go back again and try some of the other things.

wonderful food, can't wait to go back. They still allow smoking in a back area. I love the middle eastern food, but my mom and sister prefer the American. The best, bar none, southern fried chicken around. Go figure! They love it.
