I keep getting spiders in my son's bedroom. I googled and recognized Gunter because I see their VW Bugs driving around town. I called and they got me in the next day. Person who answered the phone (a lady) was nice and professional. Good start. A guy named Cade pulled up in his Beetle, introduced himself, told me what he was gonna do, inspected around and did the treatment. He explained that by getting rid of the other little bugs around the house that the treatment will eliminate the food source for the spiders. Made sense. Total treatment took about 45 minutes. He had to fog for the spiders so I had to get out for a couple hours. Great guy! The price was reasonable (about $125) and the service was exceptional. I will definitely be using Gunter next time around. So far, I haven't seen any more spiders. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I had and still have mice even though Gunter came out and threw out bags which they said would get rid of the mice. This was approximately one month ago. When I called and told them I still had mice, they said I would have to pay another $95 for them to come out. Why would I pay another $95 when what they used the first time did not work. I use a pest control company down at the Lake and the mice are gone within days. I think this company is a rip-off and the person I spoke to was not helpful nor she did seem surprised the bags did not do the trick. I will never use this company again nor will I recommend them. As far as a rating, one star. If I could give less than one star, I would.

We have had spiders in our attic since we moved in our house about 4 years ago. They never bothered us because they were small, innoucous looking and never seemed to be found outside of the attic closet. Recently my sister suggested that they may be brown recluses. Yikes. Terrified that we might have little microkillers roaming around our house, I immediately killed one and put it in a jar. We know Gunter's reputation well and have always used Gunter for termite inspection when buying a house. My knee jerk response was to drive out to their central office and have a Gunter bug guy/gal take a look at it and confirm my suspicions. But hoping to save myself a trip down to their central office, I called another very well known national pest control company and explained that I had looked up brown recluses on the internet and was almost sure I had them in my attic but had caught one and wanted a tech to take a look at it. If it was harmless, we could live together in harmony and they can eat all the bugs in our attic for all I care. If it was brown recluse, gimme the best plan you got and gas 'em! Thats what I told the tech. Instead of allowing me to drive the mile or so over to their office to let them take a look, the tech had me convinced (just over the phone) that it was a brown recluse and that if I had found one there were many and that meant we had a much bigger bug problem on our hands (even though I have never seen any other bugs in our house, nor have I seen the spiders outside of the attic closet). He immediately went into his spheel about their plan and was ready to committ me for a year to a $53/month plan (over $600!). When I said I needed to call him back after I spoke with my husband he wanted my number because he "worked on sales and wanted to make sure he got credit". After our phone call, I was a little leery of said well known national chain exterminator and popped my three babies (who are the main reason I even care that there may be brown recluses in our house) and our little acrachnid friend in the car and drove the 15 miles to the Gunter office. I explained to the very nice lady at the front desk my quandry (that if he was harmless, no action needed. but if it was a brown recluse, we need the deluxe plan stat). After shaking it around and studying it, she was also pretty sure it was a brown recluse but said "Mmmmm...his legs look a little long to be a brown recluse though. I just want to make really sure. You've got babies...I can totally understand your concern. Let me take your number down and have our techs take a look at it this afternnoon and we'll give you a call back." A few hours later I got a call from Gunter. She said with a giggle that it was a harmless house spider and we were fine to "co-exist". Instead of scaring the wits out of me and taking me for the (much less expensive than said well known national extermination chain) $300 diamond plan, they debunked my brown recluse theory and set my mind at ease. Honesty is everything. By not dishonestly getting my sale they have FOREVER gained a customer and we will ALWAYS use Gunter for our pest control needs.

I am very happy to pass the word on to other homeowners who need a good bug guy. I googled for pest control last year (2008) and started using Gunter. I was very happy, so I called them again this year. It seems like every Spring I get those little ants around my kitchen. I also seem to get a lot of silverfish and spiders. Anyway, they came out and did their Diamond Program thing. I think it was around $320, which is reasonable because it is for the whole year. They come back periodically throughout the year and free anytime in between. I was using Terminex before Gunter and I was paying around $600 (for service half as good!). Nice to use a local company. They have been around forever. The little VW Bugs they drive are cute too.

I live in Cedar Creek (West Olathe) and I kept getting ants coming in around my kitchen sink. My daughter lives in Leawood and said she has been using Gunter for several years so I gave them a call. I set them up for 8:00 am and they showed up exactly at 8:00 - good first impression! The guy who came out was named Rick. He said that he worked mostly in the Olathe, South Overland Park and Lawrence areas. Nice guy. Seemed to know what he was doing. He inspected around, then told me that he found the source of the ants coming in from outside. He also saw signs of spiders and silverfish when he went up into my attic. Price was reasonable. Also, since I signed up for the annual program (Diamond Service) he said that any callbacks I needed would be free. Glad I called them. I would recommend Gunter if you need a bug guy. They drive green VW's - what a riot!

I've used this company for over 20 years now. My parents used them when I was a kid (in the 60s). They are easy to spot around town because they drive those green VW BUGS. Not only are they fun to work with, but their techs really know their business. I have an on-going problem with silverfish in my current home. I emailed them (www.gunterpest.com) and they sent over a tech named Steve. He inspected all over and determined that the silverfish were coming down from my attic because I have a wood roof and somehow that retains moisture that serves as a good breeding ground for those little critters. He did one thorough treatment inside and out and said he would be back 3 more times this year to treat outside and that anytime I had any problems in between that it would be free to come back. Great guy! Great company! If you need a pest company, these are the guys to call.

Pros: honest, reasonably priced, locally owned

Cons: none

I was getting little ants in my kitchen and usually I get silverfish and spiders when the weather warms up. I had been using one of the national pest companies, but I got tired of the corporate run-arounds, so I asked my next door neighbor who she was using and she referred me to Gunter. Those are the guys that drive those cute green VW Beetles. The technician (Steve) was great. He showed me potential problem areas. Then he did a treatment that seemed sufficient without making me feel like like I was getting a ton of pesticide. In fact, the spray didn't even have any odor. I went with their Diamond Service where they come out the first time and treat inside and out, then they come back quarterly and do a preventative exterior treatment. So far it has been working really good. I would recommend these guys any time. Great company!
