First of all the pizza-AMAZING! Lets make it known I only go here for the food. With that said, the place is run by 2 ladies (a lady who is nearly 90 years old and her daughter) and sometimes they are the only 2 there so they are waiting

I kept hearing about this place and decided to finally check it out. To begin with, the service was a joke. The food was absolutely disgusting and the restaurant itself was dirty. I will not be a returning customer!

Great authentic Italian food prepared by an Italian grandma and her mother; both immigrants from Italy. As to the service, I am told that Europeans take the time to enjoy their meals, the company and conversation. It??s we Americans who ??perfected?? fast McBurgerQueen food so we can get it over with.
If you want to experience a touch of Italy and have a great dining experience, maybe even have great grandma come out, talk to you (though her English not-a-so good), even give you a hug, if your lucky, then you can??t get any more Italian than Giancarlo??s.

New, professionally trained executive chef, Andy, is already making a difference at this STL landmark Italian restaurant-Salads are great! Best marinara and red sauce and Italian salad in STL! Love it, wanted to bring a quart of it home! It was made fresh by the owners that same afternoon. We brought in a party of 12 for a birthday-The food was Fast, fresh and delicious! Wonderful atmosphere. This isn't a typical chain restaurant-it is the real deal. Recommend the lasagna and cannaloni.

We called on a Thursday to make reservations for a large group of 20 for Friday at 5pm (which is pretty early so you would expect good service). But no. The Bosnian busboy was called into duty to take our orders, which was made more difficult due to his lack of English skills, and somehow the orders never made it to the cook. When the appetizers came the calamari were burnt. It was three hours after I ordered my Deluxe pizza when a sausage and mushroom pizza arrived. I ate it anyway 'cause I was starved. Others in our group had similar extremely slow service. We had a large group and kept ourselves occupied with talking and visiting with out of town family. We amused ourselves by making fun of the restaurant staff. Mama told me (in her very broken English) that she is 92 years old. She looks it.

Again: The service was the worse I have ever seen. They should be embarrassed in their feeble attempt at running a restaurant. I will tell everyone I know to avoid Giancarlo's like the plague.

And the rest is history, we visit at least once a week.
And have never had anything but awesome food!

Nothing pre-made and it totally shows in the foods taste. And the prices are CRAZY 16 inch Giancarlos Sandwich full of meat 6.99 YES I SAID 6.99

Provides very authentic italian food which is amazing, however, the service has been getting progressively worse. Last trip we waiting an hour for cold cut sandwiches and then another half hour for the bill. We ended up having to go up to the counter and pushing for it immediately after an hour and 45 minutes.

I?ve been going to Giancarlo?s for years. The Greek salad is delicious but, Grandmother Nona?s one and only salad dressing is totally to die for! The pastas are excellent. The service is wonderful. At times the service is a little slow but the food more then makes up for it. In a rush, call ahead. This is where we have large family meals, my friends and I go, and yes my employers take us to eat, they love it! Tina is very personable and always comes to our table to greet us and the last time we were there Nona came to our table with Tina.

Be careful those salads can be addicting.

Gian Carlos is the best place I have been to in a while. I know the economy is ruff, but it's too bad people can't get out more to enjoy this great restaurant. The owner is from Italy and she will talk your ear off, but that makes the experience great for everyone. This is a truly authentic Italian Restaurant in St.Louis MO. The sandwiches are under priced!

Great Chicago style stuffed pizza, horrible service though, and that;s just with takeout. Pizza takes about 1 1/4 hour to get and costs alot, but is very good. Never anyone there, I think it's a front for something...

I ordered a sandwich with specifics- 16 inch turkey, cheese, and onions and a large pepproni pizza. I waited over an hour which isn't a big deal but when I got home, my sandwich only had 3 pieces of turkey and the cheese and onion were not there. I drove back to the place and had the owner fix it and she didnt even care that I had to come back. The waitress seemed to be the only one concerned with customer service cause she gave me 5 bucks back for having to come back, and I know that came from her tips. The owner noticed that the girl gave me back some money then started screaming at the girl saying that she's trying to make her look bad. I felt so bad for the waitress I gave her back the money and told her not to worry. I should have given her my card so she could come and work for me. I'm a big supportter of small buisness but this place won't be getting my money ever again.

The food can be good but owner seems very confused. If she makes a mistake it?s always like "so" pay me anyhow. We been going since they opened years ago but have not been there in months. Not worth the effort.

We sat down at 5:15pm, with only one other table in the restaurant. There were 7 adults and two children. We ordered 5 pizzas and 3 entrees. The first 2 pizzas arrived at 5:45. The next two came 5 minutes after that. The last one arrived at 6:20, but by then we were tired of waiting and had it wrapped up to go. We never did get our entrees.

The owner was unympathetic, and even followed us outside to tell us never to come back.

She doesn't have to worry. We won't.

She is a nice woman, who always remembers her customers. Parking is the biggest problem, but normally you can find a spot. Overall, it is a great restaurant.

She is a nice woman, who always remembers her customers. Parking is the biggest problem, but normally you can find a spot. Overall, it is a great restaurant.
