Pros: Excellent customer service

Cons: ...

I see Emily at Headlines, and I am always extremely pleased with her work. She does a wonderful job, and always is completely honest about what she thinks will work. I always completely trust her judgment. I am not very dutiful about going in every 6 weeks for a trim, but when I do see her we are able to pick up our conversation where we last left off. I love going to her! Also, she gives free bangs trims to her regular clients in between visits. It's not something I've taken advantage of, but I think it's worth mentioning.

Pros: consistent great haircuts

Cons: less than enthusiastic receptionists

I travelled to Seattle for vacation in September and I like to get haircuts as souvenirs. I was a walkin and Chastina took care of me. I wanted my haircut to be chic but not too trendy, like Posh's, with taste and style but not too wacky, because I'm working in a co-op (engineering student). Chastina was right on the money when she said it should look great enough for a suit. Back in Houston, even until December people still complimented my hair. It looks like people either have great or terrible experiences; I'd recommend Chastina. I don't know how the others will be. I'm going back to Seattle in March and I hope she can cut it again! (And it was pretty affordable, ~ $50)

Pros: not too much sales pressure, great cut, nice receptionist, recommended good products

I am very happy with this salon. The employees are friendly and helpful. I have seen many stylists here and am proud to say that. This is a very talented group. Emily is my favorite- a TALENTED hair dresser and worth waiting to see. Connie is bubbly, funny, and also does a good job. I recommend this salon above all others.

Pros: Great salon- feels like a cozy, small town salon (friendly, like Steel Magnolias!!)

Every time I get out of this place, I swear NEVER AGAIN I am getting into this convenient trap. The door is opened, ""walkings welcome"", I only have 2 hours before the kids will wake-up, and I am in..again...\r\n \r\nIt has been two days since a bold guy Bill has chopped my hair, turning my head into a shapeless mop. I can't even categorize the cut. Last time it was a different guy, same corner room. I think, they hate the walk-ins, and teach us not to do so, by sending to the very worst. Maybe? \r\n\r\nHopefully, it will help some oneelse to make a better choice. ""World Class Style, Guaranteed Satisfaction"" - NOT!

I love it's super convenient location; I like that I can go shopping, run errands and get my hair done in one stop.\r\n\r\nYoung has been cutting my hair for 2+ years and she's amazing- she absolutely knows what will and will not work for you. My hair has never looked better!

I read the reviews on this sight, and then noticed the dates. All the hair stylists that were frowned upon are no longer with Headlines Salon. I actually checked!! I have been in 3 times- twice for getting my hair done, and once again to buy Bumble and Bumble shampoo and conditioner. Everyone is experienced and knowledgeable, friendly and really good!! I love the fact that it is at University Village. I HIGHLY recommend this salon for cuts, color, style ( I had my hair styled for the holidays- loved it!!) and wares. People there really care about what they do and the people that they serve. Very wonderful experience.

I agree with the last reviewer. Headlines in wonderful. The atmosphere is very pleasant. They sell GREAT products, and the receptionist is extremely helpful. My hair has never looked better. Coming to U. Village is a fun time and you can get so much done. This is the perfect salon location.

I have read these reviews, and completely disagree. Headlines Salon has always been professional and respectful. From the front desk to the stylists- and over the years I have had the pleasure to experience a few of them, i have been thrilled. I have also recommended Headlines to MANY people over the years, and have had no complaints. Please take the complaints for what they are- wrong. Bad perceptions,,,etc. This is a great place.

I decided to treat myself to a haircut this past November. My father had died a month earlier. Run down and having my first day off in a month, I went to U Village to shop, relax, and feel pretty. \r\n\r\nI passed by Headlines Salon and decided to take advantage of the ""$5 off walk-ins special"". I'd tried to do so for a few months, but they were always too booked. Well, today was my lucky day...or so I thought.\r\n\r\nI checked in with reception and was told they could see me in 20 minutes. I picked up some pottery from Paint the Town, came back in, and took a seat. 30 minutes later I was asked if I had an appointment. I had checked in, walked less than 300 feet from the salon, and come back in under 10 minutes...and the receptionist I had scheduled with had no idea who I was. Furthermore, my stylist had gone to lunch. After waiting another 20 minutes, Sunni returned and frowned at my hair.\r\n\r\nI am quite fond of my reverse bob cut and merely wanted it trimmed. It took me years to grow and color just right. I loved the clean line and was growing it out for a wedding next year. He looked at it disdainfully, asked what I wanted done, and balked at the idea of a mere trim. Although he was not aggressively rude, he did make it clear that he thought I looked awful.\r\n\r\nHe took a razor comb to my hair, and cut off over 6 inches from my longest hair in the front. That brought hair line up to my cheekbones. I actually had trouble breathing. He threw tons of product in my hair despite the fact that I asked him not to; my hair felt like something dead. At the end, I was charged the full price...no discount for the walk-in, and left. \r\n\r\nI got into my car and cried.\r\n\r\nSince then I have told a few folks what happened. 2 of my female friends had the same experience with Sunni.\r\n\r\nBottom line: Don't go here. Look at the reviews from this year. Salons change stylists and it has clearly been a bad crop (no pun intended) this year. Save your money and dignity!

Pros: The haircut is not awful.

Cons: Extremely disrespectful, and destroyed all of my work!

I went yesterday to have my hair cut and partial foil. I explained that I style my hair straight, and that I have lots of hair. The stylist (Christine), nodded that she understood, and I let her do the work. When she was done, the color of the foil wasn't what I asked, and at the end, she couldn't even style my hair. First time in my life, I had to do it myself, I did flat iron my hair, while she just stood there next to me, without even trying to help. Oh yeah, I had to pay for the whole service, including styling. Isn't this ironic?\r\n\r\nI have to go back to have the color fixed, but definitely never going back. I haven't felt so mistreated before, as I did in there. I don't recommmed this place, their customer service is terrible!!!

If you have natural curly hair & want to have a stylist who is skilled, comfortable cutting natural curly hair, very attentive, confident, in no hurry, then you must go to Headlines & ask for Holly.I can't not say enough about her as a stylist.I had my hair foiled ( for the first time)& cut yesterday & I am over joyed. Immediately After I left the Salon I went to a store a Lady came up to me & raved about how beautiful my hair was so much I thought Headlines must've hired someone to follow me & to stop me to compliment my hair LOL.My husband is so pleased he can't say enough about how wonderful my hair looks .I made another appt. today for my daughter to get her hair cut.Holly thank you again =)

A stylist named Mandy did a wonderful job on my color correction and hair cut. She seemed very knowledgeable and up-to-date on current hair trends. The location of the salon is unbeatable--what a perfect excuse to spend time at the Village!

I enjoyed Headlines Salon because of the honesty and realness I received from the employees. No one seemed to come off fake nor did they try to scam me into things, like a lot of other salons seem to do. I highly recommend this salon to anyone that wants a relaxing time inbetween a busy day of shopping at the U-Villlage or from a hard day of work!

I am genuinely surprised to see poor reviews for this salon. I've been to just one stylist at Headlines and she does a fantastic job. Her name is Mandy, and she's wonderful. Very professional and on top of what her clients want. I really can't say enough nice things about her. The receptionist is a little strange, but seems nice.

I was in dire need of some shaping up as far as my head was concerned. By chance, I found Headlines. By even greater chance, I found Mandy Sue, the most exquisitely delicious stylist I have ever had handle my hair. All I told her was, ""Make me pretty"" and she cut and sawed my mop into something that I wasn't even sure was me, but I walked out of there feeling like a moviestar and looking every bit as good as one. I told myself, ""no more once a year haircut, I'm gonna make a regular monthly date with Mandy Sue, the prettiest, sexy weilding scissor lady I have ever seen (with a smile that could melt an ice cap and a laugh that sings like a symphony) I hope she never reads this because I would be so embarassed... but I sure look good. Thank you, Mandy Sue!

I went to have my hair colored by Katherine, my hair was light blonde and I wanted it toned to a darker blonde shade. Instead of doing this she used an all over ash brown and added a few highlights. My hair looked grey and I immediately told her I didnt like it. She redid it the next day free and it still looked terrible. Even the other stylists agreed it looked grey and needed brightening up. Her answer was leave it for a few months and get more highlights. 4 months later still grey hair. Horrific salon!

I went to the Headlines salon way back in March and I will never forget my experience. My appointment was booked with Vanessa for a cut. I fully explained to her that I was trying to let my one length hair grow long and only wanted a trim. I watched in horror as she used a razor to take off 5 inches of my one length hair and as my hair was wet I had no idea what it looked like. As she dried my hair I sat in disbelief, my hair stuck out all over. The haircut was very horrific, the stylist thought it looked wonderful. I immediately told her I didnt like what she had done but she said oh it looks so much better, you just need time to get used to it. 6 months later my hair is still destroyed. DONT GO HERE!

Headlines wants you to think that it's a high-class salon--but it's just a low-class salon at a mall. I could have excused the surly countergirls (no eye contact, no ""the robes are over there...""), if only I'd gotten a decent cut. But the ""stylist"" ignored my extremely specific instructions and roughly hacked at my one-length hair leaving me with a choppy shag. I consulted 2 professional stylists later to repair it and both were appalled and baffled at this bizarre and uneven hack job. A call to the manager resulted in the promise of a return call that never came.
