.

We had an antique dining room table (approximately 110 years old) refurbished by R. J. D. . The table had a broken cross-member on one set of legs and had some water damage on the table surface from a leak in our roof a few years back. We contacted R.J.D. and his price was considerably less than most other furniture refurbishing places (one place quoted us a price of $3000 to $4000). We were quoted a price from R.J.D. of $500. It was in September that I first contacted Rick from R.J.D. He informed me that if I had the time, he would be able to do the work, but he was very busy with other projects and would get back with me as soon as he could. He was very apologetic and assured me that he would get back with me once his backlog was caught up. We made contact early this year and I went over to his establishment with one of the "leafs" of the table to show him what needed doing along with a couple of pictures. He told me that he would be able to do the work, but with the weather (unusually cold and wet) it would take longer as the stripping of the old furniture was more conducive to warmer weather. All in all, when our schedules permitted, he picked up the table in mid-March and indicated that he would work on it as quickly as weather would permit, but didn't want to rush the job. I agreed with him, I didn't want him to rush the job either. All in all, it took about 6 weeks to complete the job and deliver it back to us, but the job was done to perfection. My wife was ecstatic over the finished project. It's been in her family for about 110 years and she was very pleased with the outcome. The bottom line, if you want the job done 2nd rate and quick, find someone else to do it (by the way, you'll probably pay a whole lot more going elsewhere as well). If you want the job done correctly and with a high level of craftsmanship and care at a very reasonable cost, this is the place to get it done. It was well worth the wait. Bravo Rick. Thanks!!
